It appears his injury missed games at Barca counted towards his clause being triggered, but you'd assume that was an omission on their part that we'd surely safeguard ourselves against.

If any of it is true, of course.

Didn't he miss by playing a game or two less. Surely Barcelona played a couple of dead games in UCL Earlier rounds and La Liga after they won it? Seems more like a Barcelona feck up.

I'm assuming nothing, it's an unknown. Only known is that the clause exists and that injuries did not void the terms, not whether it was an omission or someone cocked up
Well, let's assume it wasn't an omission because Barca are the bestest ever, but that we'll negotiate it so that injuries don't count. Mkay?

I think they didn't play him in dead rubber league games at the end of the season as well, which could have impacted.

So I've read.

I think that was the original thought, that he needed 60% of games and played in 58%, but most people seemed to think after a while it was 60% of minutes and he was nowhere close since loads of those games were substitute appearances.

It's a private contract between two parties. Neither side had to agree to it.

Of course but it doesn't translate to it being an omission or some error. Player contracts for many players include some odd clauses and accelerators for bonuses & fees. It's the price of doing business in today's football. And it's this sort of business that perhaps has left the club playing hardball, even if they end up losing out on the player

Exactly!

I read that Tevez's contract mentioned he'd start 70(or was it 80%) of game he's available for. We could have a similar clause on Alcantara's contract.

If that above is true and Neymar has took Thiago's number? Then get the feck out of there Thiago and come where you'll be loved.

From what I read that it was only based on the games he was fit to appear in.

Reports coming in that his insistence on a testimonial is jepardizing any potential transfer. Greedy cnut.

 what!?! a testimonial at Barca? thats got to be a joke surely

How many minutes were that in all of the 36 games if that is true? I can't see why we are able activate that clause of signing him for 17m then?

it had to total to 60% of all games for it to go up to €90m, as I recall, he wasn't that far off, probably 50% or something, so he didn't "barely play" any.

Barring injuries if he doesn't play enough games it proves he's not worth keeping. Not sure why anyone should worry about a release clause on that principle.

Listen to uncle Sult's.

Not sure how I feel about this clause business. I would be over the moon if we sign Thiago, but I'd like him to come here for the right reasons and not just because we are the only club that will guarantee him games. I also respected our previous stance on this type of bullshit with player power and them making these demands.

Exactly uncle!

I couldn't give a feck if we give hm a release clause based on appearances. It'll be at least what we paid for him and if he doesn't play then it's no loss.
