No chance that this whole thing has been about money.

The papers/journos/everyone have discussed how he wants playing time and to be at the world cup next year. He has a clause in his contract that is regarding playing time that they failed to meet. I think it's safe to say that his issue is with playing time, unless it's just one massive coincidence that he just happened not to play a sufficient amount of games.

Money could quite easily be a factor in it though. It's obviously going to be more than that, but if Barcelona come back with a very good contract offer that we aren't willing to match, then it'd surely play a part in him deciding to stay or go.

Right sorry I've been in a car for the past 9 hours with very little internet. Am I right in saying that people are still crying due to his instagram post saying "I love Barcelona"? If so, then I'm still calm.

Pretty sure Hernandez loves Guadalajara, but that doesn't mean he's moving there is he? Be cool lads. Only reason this isn't officially wrapped up is because Moyes hasn't took charge yet and the piss-taking media/ITK has just clocked that so they're not wasting their time with "Signs by the end of the week".

I have no ITK knowledge whatsoever, but I'm certain we'll unveil someone on Friday with Moyes. Be it Thiago, Strootman or a 20 year old from Tahiti - we'll sign someone. We're known to make our signings nice and early, but we haven't been able to do that with no one officially at the helm.

And why would Barca do that? They have a lot of midfielders, and Thiago's contract will run for a few more years. If anything, Barca are more pissed about the price they'll be getting for him..

We can all dream.

He had the 5th highest release clause in football before it dropped to €18m. What a bollock for Barça to drop, unless it was intentional.
Before we even got dragged into the saga, the initial reports from Spain were that Barcelona wanted to sell him. I can't help think there was something in that.

Why couldn't Ronaldo go to Chelsea or City out of interest? Simply because he's "Loyal" to us?

Because they're nouveau riche. He could go to Bayern or Barceona I suppose, but they've got galacticos in place already. When he's 30, he can go wherever he wants, he's allowed to take the last-job-before-retirement pay day option.

Yep, the whole Thiago business started with strong reports that Barca had made it known that he was on the market and that we were head of the queue straight away. The release clause came about later on and Barca began to back track around that point. I think they hoped to sell him for big money to fund other signings.

Isn't he rich enough-- from a footballer's point of view-- to not stoop to that level. I mean Nesta plays for less than million dollars a year. Surely, one of the greatest footballers of our generation will exit the game gracefully.

Surely they are not that much of a shambles that they planned to sell him but forgot about the release clause, more likely they just thought that he would not want to leave and they might be proved correct in the end, we don't know yet.

We've already signed a player in Moyes' absence.

Did the font change half way through this post because you copied and pasted Guadalajara?

Good catch

One tip: Spanish words are spelt exactly as they sound.

Second tip: Ctrl+Shift+V removes formatting of copied text.

Yeah, well, Guadalajara is probably the very worst example for that. At least it'd never occur to me, as a non-Spanish speaker, to write it with "j" if I didn't know how to spell it.

Javier Hernández; Guadalajara.

J is spelled like "H" in Spanish. It's Havier Hernandez... Guadalahara... Or a sofr "r" as in Juan, sounds like Ruan.

There's only tweet in English though, isn't there? Is "I <3 Barcelona" English specifically, as the heart is a symbol and Barcelona is the same either way?

Yo <3 Barcelona!?

There is a another recent English tweet where he talks about an Island.

Tbh I wouldnt look into the tweeting language too much. While I dont have many Spanish friends I have a few Swedish and Austrian and they all write the odd status in English for no apparent reason.

Watching Xavi tonight makes me think Thiago will be in with a shout soon if he stays at Barca. Not quite as effective as he once was.

Even with Xavi's career slowing down, with Neymar coming in, that will keep Iniesta off the left and back into the middle more frequently, so will they possibly line up like this?

Busquets
Iniesta Fabregas
Pedro --------------- Neymar
Messi

Anyone thinking Neymar might not get a warm welcome to Barca?

Nah, he'll be welcomed with open arms.
Sure look at the Barcelona and Madrid players, they go for each others throats when they play each other yet when they play with each other for Spain they're best buds.
