But hasnt that been the news for the past 48 hours now? I think Hunter was the first who posted that on Twitter.

Yep. Thought that this is a new one.

It was written exactly this: Thiago has agreed personal terms with Man United but is still willing to listen to Barcelona. United want deal within next seven days [espn]
Cannot find on espn though.

I'm not senile, I'm just cynical because I've seen all this shit before. It was real with Ozil, real with Sneijder, real with Sanchez, real with Hazard, real with Lucas Moura. We were signing these players, it wasn't just Twitter, it was genuine press, proper ITK's people on talksport and elsewhere with links to the countries the players played in/came from. Genuine interest reported everywhere, deals imminent, terms agreed with players, fees agreed with clubs. All these deals were on, like donkey kong, and cocks were out.

There's quite some differences in each of those transfer stories. We actually were very close to sign Lucas and much of what has been reported was true. Same with Hazard
With Sneijder there was never actually anything concrete. Not as much as now. We showed interest but not more. The other things were just pure muppetry. Özil I can't even remember to be that a big thread tbh.
It's looking very likely we are going to sign this lad imo. It looks like all that's needed is Barca stop beeing cocks.

I think it's you trying to get a lot of attention by trying to be clever and moaning about everything. You remind me a lot of Pogue actually. Not the good one, who was very objective. But the one just before he went.

How many of the above players play for us?

You moan about me posting an opinion because I've already said what I think. How is that different from you saying on multiple occasions that you think it'll happen? In a discussion there are two sides, every update will have people believing and people being cynical and not buying it. Allow me the same right to an opinion that I allow you, and the right to post it in the Thiago transfer discussion thread, and stop being such a child about it.
We had sagas with Kagawa and RVP too last summer as well as Hazard and Lucas, some you win some you lose, every time we lose out on a player doesn't mean it was all made up. In this case it's almost undeniably more than just fabricated rumours.

I cant keep up with the posts in this thread so Im sure this has already been posted. Soccernet reporting we have already come to personal terms with Thiago, tripling his wages, however he and his camp are waiting to hear what Barca have to say about guarantees.

I've never said we aren't interested, we might well be, I'm saying all these updates from Twitter that are posted here as fact, one way or another that have lead to mass wanking, followed by mass Muppet suicides are most likely bollocks and shouldn't be bought, either way.

Yesterday for example, your guy Hunter tweeted something positive and he was ITK, then he tweeted something slightly more negative and that was brushed aside. This thread is full of reports from press and twitter sources which have been known to talk shit, yet they're taken as fact as long as they go with the transfermuppet consensus that this is on.

You're free to believe what you want, and to take whatever sources you want as ITK, genuine or whatever. I haven't told you to stop believing it's happening, I just don't buy it and never buy any transfer rumours until I see something official. Allow me to have a different opinion from you.

Same here, I've had a good look on the ESPN website and found nothing regarding Thiago or United.

There aren't going to be any proper updates regarding this matter until Monday now, as Solius said a while ago. No point bickering among ourselves and getting frustrated at each other until then.

So I'm not allowed an opinion that goes against the consensus of the thread, or I must be seeking attention. Is this North Korea?

No but you're deliberately playing up the part and being the antagonist. It's not big or clever.

This could easily become another Lucas all over again. I can just see some rich club offering him insane money and signing him up on the spot if we drag this on any longer.

If that clubs competes for important trophies and guarantee a lot of play time yes, but fortunately for us, I don't think that such a club exists.

The PM exchange which contained nothing of the sort, you were punished for the language used towards another member, nothing else. I can see you're plainly a fool and seeking attention. This won't go well for you if you carry on.

Barca launch bid to keep Thiago

United close in on Thiago

Thiago Alcantara is believed to be close to sealing a move to the Premier League champions, with the clubs reportedly agreeing to a 17 million-pound deal for the 22-year-old.
Barcelona are making a desperate and concerted last-ditch attempt to keep Thiago Alcantara at Camp Nou and prevent a widely anticipated transfer to Manchester United.
Sources privy to the negotiations have told ESPN that the Catalan club have tried a number of "stalling tactics" with both Old Trafford officials and the player himself, in order to halt any deal and persuade the midfielder to stay. Although United still feel confident of eventually securing the purchase, they are getting "increasingly frustrated" and ideally want to have it tied up within the next seven days - especially with Chelsea and, to a lesser extent, Bayern Munich hovering.
The Premier League champions have agreed personal terms with Thiago and are set to more than treble his wages, but the player’s camp are open to at least weighing up what Barcelona have to say. It is understood that the Catalans were "stunned" at the reality that the playmaker would actually go through with a move, and have been moved into sudden action. One Old Trafford source likened it to United’s reaction at the realisation that Paul Pogba was intent on leaving for Juventus.
Barcelona, however, are now prepared to offer Thiago much greater guarantees and are particularly playing up the idea that he is the successor to a 33-year-old Xavi. The Spanish legend will likely play less next season, simply as a consequence of the accumulation of fixtures over the past five years as well as his age.
Thiago’s main concern at the moment is getting as much football as possible, in order to force his way into Spain’s World Cup squad. As such, Barca will essentially have to come close to matching United’s assurances that the 22-year-old will be a certain starter.
Any prospective transfer is also not quite so simple as the Old Trafford club just triggering his release clause to take Barcelona out of the equation. Even then, a number of terms about any deal still have to be agreed between the clubs. The Catalans have in the meantime attempted to leverage that situation, while also requesting a first-refusal in the event of any transfer.

You need to lighten up. It's all part of the fun being the muppet season where there is no actual football now
I need to lighten up? fecking hell. I've been slaughtered by the transfer muppets for not sharing the faith. I've made a few light hearted comments and have drawn the scorn of irate transfer muppets quick to burn me at the stake. I'm lightened up, if anything Kermit and chums need to stop being so sensitive.

So I'm not allowed an opinion that goes against the consensus of the thread, or I must be seeking attention. Is this North Korea?

Oh c'mon. I've read you posts in here. You don't voice your opinion. You leave snide and sarcastic little remarks everywhere. Probably trying to be funny. You're not. You don't believe it's happening? That's fine. I think everyone in this thread knows it already. No need to tell everyone on every site over and over again trying to wind people up.

I have no issue with how much anyone does or doesn't post in this thread. But don't come in here with a top red rant about people being in here who are never in the youth/reserve threads when you yourself almost never post there. It's shameless hypocrisy, and it's irritating as hell.

I spend as much time in the youth forums as in this thread, so I'm not sure where the hypocrisy is in asking people to do the same, especially when there's clearly nothing going to suggest an unfolding to this story.

Is that any different from playing the part of 'believer'?

Uhm, you'll notice people who WUM on the 'believer' side also get infracted. This is nothing to do with opinion, rather insulting and abusive behaviour, no more or less.

You told me to back away from the thread because I was drawing ire. Why? Because people are too sensitive and can't have someone not sharing their opinion? Why should I leave the thread because I'm in a minority?

Oh ok, your 'antagonist' comment confused me.

It's now widely reported we have agreed personal terms with the player, but his camp wants to hear what Barcelona has to say before committing. And then both clubs will sit down and think of a solution which will satisfy both parties. May take a while yet this

Bit like what I was saying earlier, now that he may actually leave, Barca may start promising him more.

You told me to back away from the thread because I was drawing ire. Why? Because people are too sensitive and can't have someone not sharing their opinion? Why should I leave the thread because I'm in a minority?

I suggested you back away from the thread, which is advice I'll give to you here again because your reaction to the ire and sensitivity is to call them pricks etc. I think it was good and fair advice.

Who could possibly follow such a stream of lies for amusement?
No doubt there are meetings with Barcelona. He's their player after all. But nothing to say there has been United contact.
 The only official word you'll hear is a bid or announcement about a signing. It doesn't make everything else invalid.

I have voiced an opinion, countless times apparently. Where have I wummed? I've said nothing I don't believe. What are these other sites you talk about? I've only been on here.

Irony

Fair enough, seemed like a guarded warning/threat rather than advice, so if that wasn't the case I apologise for my previous statement about not being allowed an opinion.

to be fair, youve been pretty heavily involved in the thread for countless pages now. if you dont believe its happening why not just stay out until you hear some new news? youve stated your opinion countless times. i agree with you that the activity in hear is way over the top for something weve heard nothing official but all the "muppets" are posting in the appropriate place and discussing it with eachother.

So, what's the thiago meter like at the moment? Are we closing in on him, or is he still considering all his options?

TN no one would care if your statements were somewhat accurate. Some of the things I've quickly perused just read as very condescending and few them a bit off. Just lighten up mate. These transfer threads are meant to be fun. There are indications he's coming to us from all that we've seen in fairness. Graham Hunter is close to Thiago's family. If you think what he says about Thiago is bollocks or plain fantasy, then I really dont have much else to say.

I think some of the doom mongers in here are overplaying their skepticism. I have only seen a few actually state something sensible about the whole situation. We all have our assumptions. We'll see what happens in the end. I think it's quite clear from what ACTUAL journalists are saying that we are interested and could very well sign this lad. Not sure how anyone can contend that.

Seems like we are pretty much on the cusp of bringing him to OT, only Barca stand in our way. He still wouldn't get all the first team football he wants right now if he stayed. Barca can only guarantee the future for Thigao. That just may be enough for him to sign for us.

I have voiced an opinion, countless times apparently. Where have I wummed? I've said nothing I don't believe. What are these other sites you talk about? I've only been on here.

Pages I meant. And I can only assume you are trying to wind people up, as I see no other reason for you to post countless times that this won't happen or try to be clever by making snide and sarcastic remarks, as I said.

They're fun as long as you agree that it's on, if you don't you're a cnut and you're soon told to get the feck out.
