As in, players we didn't sign?

Hazard and Moura both signed for their respective clubs very early on too. I think the Caf just prolongs transfers really, you log in here expecting updates every day and it makes you impatient. The fact is though, as soon as you get embroiled in a bidding war with another club, the transfer will take longer to go through (assuming it does), that's not just us, that's pretty much every club.

Cina you are probably to a certain extent, you do tend to get engrossed in the big transfers and expect hourly updates or confirmation that a deal has been concluded.

On a slightly different note, one of the issue is that United, in particularly Fergie would be cryptic when talking about transfers so that added to the frustration for us United fans.

It's so true. Hazard felt like ages and that thread was >200 pages yet it was concluded in May :wenger:

And there's a very valid reason for that, if you make transfers public, then it can spur the other club into increasing the transfer fee.

Deary, deary me. That's my credibility rating down from 1 out of 10 to around 0.01 then

In other news - there isn't any. The Spanish press seem to think he's leaving, they think he likes United's offer and is close to signing. They think we've offered him a lot of money and told him he'll start the season in the first XI (not that he's guaranteed a place - but basically that he's been bought for that job).

Now they've decided he's leaving and that it's not to Madrid (or a toy club like Monaco) they seem to have lost interest in the details. In the stages of mourning I'd say they're reached acceptance.

Has there been any more from the Twitter folk who were reporting this deal yesterday? I can't get on Twitter at work to be able to constantly scour and refresh, or I probably wouldn't get a whole lot done.

It's been a while since I've been so utterly excited about a move. Even the RvP deal, it felt like a luxury rather than a necessity. Thiago's style of play seems like he is the missing piece, something we have lacked since Scholes' age restricted him from playing every game. If it falls through, is there even anyone of a similar style and stature to Thiago available, and for that price? Seems highly unlikely. I really hope the deal is concluded quickly.

Do you really think so? If negotiations are under way or a bid made a club will know that United (or whoever else) is interested so I dont see how that could inflate the fee. Clubs will probebaly know long before a manager comments on anything whether there has been interest.

Marvellous. Hopefully he doesn't gets his head turned by other clubs at this point.

I kinda agree, but if you look at the Sneijder saga it was obvious that we were after him, the player was desperate to join but we continued to deny it, but anyhow we are going off topic.

This is probably the only time ever we are actually really lucky that we one of the few top clubs in Europe with such a gash midfield. Chelsea could still pull something out the hat though but I'm hoping the Mourinho - Madrid connection puts him off.

I don't think he would go to Chelsea... he would be directly competing with Ramires for a spot in CM. Not to mention Lampard too.

Like you said, very lucky none of the top teams really desperately need him like we do. The biggest danger is him remaining at Barcelona. If he were to move, I think we have a fantastic chance.

Hopefully he's got his head screwed on, and can see that out of all the top clubs who are possibly interested in, United are the ones who have seemingly neglected the central midfield position for a long time, and he can slot right in, and probably play every game that he's fit for. He seems desperate to play (if he wasn't, he would definitely not be leaving Barca, obviously) and he'd have a tough job to break into the starting line ups of Bayern, Real, City and even Chelsea. Realistically, I believe we are the best option for him, and I don't think I'm saying that just because I want to see him play for United so bad. I think we are the ones who need him most and can give him the minutes he craves whilst not necessarily having to drop down a level to get it.

for what it's worth, I've known for a long time that jojojo is a lady. I hope some of you lot are just pretending that you don't know.
But what happened with Paul Dyson UK? Wasn't he the likable big fella?

People kept reading his name as Pauldy Son, and thought that is what it meant until they found out it really was Paul Dyson.

I've always read that name as pauldy son.

I feel so thick
Don't worry everyone has.

It's why I revel so much in writing it out as Paul Dyson.

It is a revelation to us all.
That's nothing, I had him down as Paddy's One. feck knows how. Imagine... finding out you're dyslexic at 35.:(

I've had better feels.

Still think the dream of Thiago is far better than what he will actually add to your team.

Not sure why, he's clearly class and we've been crying out for a midfielder despite competing/winning on most fronts. I'm not saying he'd have as much an impact as someone like Ronaldo but I'd say if you put him in our team in immediately becomes significantly stronger.

It had to pay off eventually

feck sake, haven't been here for 2 days and there are about 70 pages. Is anything new about the transfer except the signing of the shirt and the possibility that in the ball he was keeping there was written something about him coming to Manchester?

no

Spanish journos/reporters who seem usually reliable seem to be saying that personal terms have been agreed, but the deal between the club is still to be finalised, or something along those lines. Now a German outlet are claiming we are hijacking the Isco bid too, which seems hugely unlikely. Bonkers anyway.

Yes, Graham Hunter said we have agreed personal terms.

I'll believe this is happening when the deal is signed and sealed...the tabloids have a gift for making everyone believe its a done deal when all we've probably done is inquire if he is available or not and theres every chance barca have no interest to sell in the hope of convincing him to sign a long term contract further down the line......but if it happens then you'd have to say that we've just signed the best young player on the planet in a position that we have badly needed sorting out for a long time

Release clause, your argument is invalid.

Graham Hunter who is close to Thiago's family stated yesterday we essentially agreed terms with the player. We have been tracking this lad for 3 years and with our weakened midfield, he is most likely to get more playing time than at any of the other interested clubs. Barca don't have interest to sell but the kid has a release clause. If you choose to retain your view out of cynicism, then fair enough.

At this point, I find such views intriguing because they lack substance. We have the ball and the interview with a fan who got told by de Gea thiago is coming. What else do you need before official confirmation?

It's amazing that people seem to forget this vital piece of info.

ffs! then people moan that we keep repeating the same thing but every page presents someone who needs a release clause explaining.

I don't think it's that we want more clues and hourly updates from journos and reporters. I think we all just want the official confirmation so much that we're getting antsy. I certainly am.
