Dave is bascially saying "Yeah, I want Thiago to play for us. He wants to play for us. I dont think Barca wants to let him go though. But they have no say in this, so it's fecking on! Hi mom!"

Atleast that is what I got from his comments.

Would be an incredible signing and for that reason I'll take it with a pinch of salt. If he leaves, which he probably wont, I fully expect Bayern to somehow crush our dreams even if they have more than enough quality midfielders

"Spain U21s were too much, Thiago wants the ball under pressure, he demands it anywhere. We need to produce that kind of mentality in our kids."

That one?

feck all of ya'll saying that he wont leave. He wants to leave due to lack of gametime ahead of the WC. Barca havent been able to give him enough gametime for the previous 3 seasons, and are not able to promise him more gametime now. Surely with the arrival of Neymar, Thiago would play even less as Iniesta would be played more often in midfield again?

Thiago wants to leave, and he has a release clause that makes Barca unable to refuse any interest from any club that is willing to fork out the ridiculous low amount needed to buy a world class talent. Basically any other team would give him more gametime (perhaps bar Bayern), and he seems like a sensible enough lad to realise this. Dave is his best friend, and has been whispering words in his ears this entire tournament. He has a ball with the word "Manchester" on it, and his agent is either the agent or Rio or Welbeck (this is abit unclear).

This
Is
100%
Without a doubt
ON.

So stop being negative about this.

We'll probably not get him though.

I think you have just answered your own concern there. You have to remember that Thiago wants first team football, otherwise he wouldn't even contemplate moving from barca. bayern currently have Javi Martínez and Bastian Schweinsteiger. He could well be in the same position that he is at barca if he moves there, so I wouldn't see the point tbh.

The Spanish press seem to think that Barcelona have gone as far as they are willing to. It's the third summer when he's needed reassurances, they haven't got anything new to say. Barca have pointed out that he was injured for 10 games and that in an injury free season he would have played more. So an old promise confirmed rather than anything new.

All of the press are saying the same thing - it's up to Thiago now, and he's a very quiet lad off the field so probably very few people around him know anything more, and they aren't talking. They're speculating that blabbermouth Dave may be right, but no one that I've read is claiming anything even vaguely in the know, apart from what we know!

Thiago's own description. "I understand patience, I've been patient. But now I've played at every level for Spain except to the top one. To play for them I need to prove my value by playing football for my club."

So we might sign him ... and in 3 years time after we turn him into a world star, he'll get "Fabregas-itus' and want to return to his alma mater to fulfil his destiny.

Im not saying that is a good reason not to sign him, that if that happens, its WIN WIN because his development in talent would have contributed to our betterment and we'd make a huge profit on a transfer back to Barcelona.

But we should sign him in full knowledge that he would be leaving Barcelona like a jilted lover in this instance.

Not at all. Footballers often make choices rather on what they are told and promises that are made rather than what the football fan can see. If Guardiola tells him he'll play him lots and be a first choice he could easily make that move. Whether it'll even turn out to be true, or if it'd see the likes of Kroos get little playing time and be unhappy, nobody could know.

Kroos and Gustavo played a part in 46 matches between them in the league alone last season let alone all the other competitions Bayern played in, plus Guardiola has played central midfielders "wide" before so who knows what ideas he could potentially have for a player like Thiago. Stocking up on quality CMs and building a formation about it is, if anything, right up Guardiola's street

Well, my personal Spanish translator says it looks like "Let's go to Manchester" rather than see you there etc.,

I need fuel for my fire. where are the rumours? the press is too silent for my liking. The english.

Don't think we'll hear anything about this til at least mid-next week.

It'll be very hard to keep up this activity in this thread. The muppet in us, has been spent during the last 24 hours. This level can be reached only by sightings at Manchester airport.

I have to go to Scotland next week for brother's graduation so I'll be practically busy for a whole week. If I miss out on this next week, I'll be pissed.

Let it happen this week, or in two weeks please

The guy who made the original tweet actually admitted to having video editing skills when explaining how he was quick to spot it.

It's very unlikely it is edited... but it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

We're just delaying the announcement because we want to present Thiago and Ronaldo at the same time. So obvious.

The actual article has already been linked and pasted, do keep up pocco.

barcastuff (@barcastuff) tweeted at 9:01 AM on Thu, Jun 20, 2013:
Barcelona midfielder Thiago (22) is close to joining Man United. His father and agent Mazinho already met with the English club. [md]

Dear God, please be true! Does anyone know how credible that account is?

Does Thiago even exist? This could be some illusion to making us believe we're signing a midfielder.
