I don't like the recent quote by DDG. He couldn't really say anything else, but it still sounds like Barca can convince Thiago to stay.

If he leaves, it'll be because he doesn't play enough at Barcelona. How giving him a new contract is going to convince him that he'll play more than 20 odd games next season, especially as all players who are ahead of him will remain there?

There's literally no reason for Barcelona to offer him a new deal. The €18m clause goes away in a month and a half anyway, it's up to Thiago to decide whether he wants to play for another team because he doesn't believe he'll get time at Barcelona or stay and fight for his place. This move won't be about money at all so a new deal would do nothing.
 
United should sign up De Gea as an agent.

I still think Barcelona are favourites to retain Thiago.

It's games he wants, not money. He knows the money will come eventually if he gets games to show his ability and play at the top level.
 
If Thiago has really told Villanova he wants to leave already, then I cannot see him changing his mind.

Barca already promised him more game time last year, and he played less than his fixed terms in his contract. That surely shows him he was not deemed worth enough when they had him. Now hes threatening to leave they will try and promise him the world, but I think he has realised he needs to be playing week in week out.
 
The Spanish press seem to think that Barcelona have gone as far as they are willing to. It's the third summer when he's needed reassurances, they haven't got anything new to say. Barca have pointed out that he was injured for 10 games and that in an injury free season he would have played more. So an old promise confirmed rather than anything new.

All of the press are saying the same thing - it's up to Thiago now, and he's a very quiet lad off the field so probably very few people around him know anything more, and they aren't talking. They're speculating that blabbermouth Dave may be right, but no one that I've read is claiming anything even vaguely in the know, apart from what we know!

Thiago's own description. "I understand patience, I've been patient. But now I've played at every level for Spain except to the top one. To play for them I need to prove my value by playing football for my club."

And DDGs quotes is obviously just mocking Barca, as he knows it's not a god damn thing they can do about Thiago. He wants to play for Manchester United, and we will grant his wish within the next 11 days.

What negative comments? This is more on than that of Donkey Kong my friend. DDG is doing what Gerard Piqué usually does. It makes a refreshing change.
