For the 1,000,000th time in this thread, Barcelona do NOT have a choice. If we match their release clause he is free to leave if he wishes.

Big Dave "IF" those quotes are true, is just saying what any normal professional would say. He would enjoy playing with him but he is tied up to Barcelona. If we break his contract with the release clause its fair game.

Just like other clubs Barcelona can still promise more game time in the future, and a better financial package. Basically Thiago decides his future.

Of course Barca have a choice: give him a big deal, and the increase in seniority that implies. Simple.

Of course, but they did that last year already. This is his last chance to leave Barcelona for competitive first team football otherwise he is tied there for 3 more years. Iniesta / Busquets / Xavi / Fabregas are going nowhere quick. Will he be a regular starter ahead of that quad?.

I can honestly see him wanting to leave. He has won trophies at Barca already, so first team football is now the importance to him.

What about the fact that we've held meetings with his father/agent?

Don't know if we can really trust that tbh.. I remember when the press were reporting that David Gill had travelled to Italy to conclude the deal to sign Alexis Sanchez.. which seems to have been completely fabricated if I´m not mistaken.

When people say Barca will not let him go they know he has a release clase what they mean is they will give him a offer that makes him stay. We willl find out if it is about money or playing time one way or another.

Sure they can make him a new offer of a contract, but from all accounts his problem was never money in the first place, its the lack of first team opportunity. Realistically he is not going to break into that midfield any time soon, he will always be a second choice.

From his quotes he clearly realizes its going to be an uphill struggle, and would be better off moving to another top team to play regular football and get better. Only that way can he force himself into the Spain team.

Mundo Deportivo were the first source to say that Thiago is available this summer. From what I've read, they're well connected with Barca.

They're fecking journos looking to get some clicks from muppets like you! They're about as ITK as the MEN.

It makes me happy that Thiago has not come out and commented on the speculation regarding a transfer. Always a good thing.

A big increase in wages shows your seniority in the squad and indicates how much the club thinks of you. The more they pay you the more chance they will then want to play you to justify that. Its all about money. And he just needs to play hardball for as long as possible to get the best deal. If it needs his agent to link him with other clubs in the press then thats all part of it.

He'll sign for United 100%. Don't let the cnuts drag you down guys. Print off a piccy of him and put it in your wallet. Make a poster of it and stick it proudly on the door of your toilet. It's just a matter of time.

Do we really want to sign someone who's not even good enough to get in the Barcelona team.

You think Barca are going to offer him big wages? They won't.

Excuse me if I don't listen to someone who believes everything he reads for the inside track on Barcelona's boardroom.

Correct.

Especially when you compare it to Cesc who has come out and ruled out any possible transfer, you really start to get a feeling this is on.

he's behind Xavi, Iniesta and Fabregas. personally I would pick Thiago over Fabregas. I like his style more, and I think he has a bigger potential, but Fabregas seems to be mroe in the frame as he is a popular figure and they spent years trying to get him, so it'd be daft if he didn't play. I don't think being behind Xavi, Iniesta and Fabregas is a bad thing.

Who would be infront of those 3 and is available?

If the lads 21/22 then you can understand his frustration. I think he wants to leave and United must be a temptation. He'll be thinking, he could play 40+ games next season and he could at United. He'll have seem our games vs Real Madrid and thought he could have made a difference. The knock on effect (if he does leave) will be interesting but I'd think it's pretty logical to think we're be a great destination.

I think Thiago is more popular with the Barca fans though isn't he?

Any Barca fan I've talked to is disgusted about the whole situation and the fact that Xavi wasn't rested more in order to give Thiago more games, and he was stuck behind Fabregas in the pecking order so much. He's very highly rated there.

Is he? I didn't realise that if so. I always thought Fabregas was one of their posterboys, and the one who they were so desperate to "bring home" or whatever. The fans certainly do seem cheesed off that Thiago may be leaving, but it's going to be difficult for any team to have 4 utterly world class midfielders and keep them all happy.

He just seems a hybrid of them all, Iniesta, Xavi, Fabregas. He's not got blistering pace but his brain is the same as theirs, he's just on that wavelength. Technique wise he looks better than Fabregas but I would not take him over Fabregas though. Fabregas is a much more proven player and would slot into the PL again seamlessly.

Thiago is basically seen as their best youngster since Xavi/Iniesta, it's a massive deal for them if they do lose him, especially for such a small fee.

EDIT: Best Spanish youngster, before someone mentions Messi :)

I don't buy the arguments

1) If he signs, he will leave us to return to Barca.
2) Can he play in a two man midfield
3) He is angling for more money

In fact I know he's already signed Saint David told me in my dreams.
