I believe Falk said he wants a new challenge and to play in England. Also that he feels like the icing on the cake at Bayern but he knows they're fine without him & he wants to be more of a catalyst leads a team to glory. He would have transformed Liverpool's average midfield and taken them up a few levels but if they've pulled out maybe the chance to take us back to the top is enticing enough?
In fairness Liverpool have got to 2 CL finals in 3 years winning one of them and stormed the league last year. They’re fine without him and he isn’t going to be a catalyst for success with them either so if that’s true we’d make far more sense surely?

We don't press anywhere like Bayern do. In fact I'm sure no club does this, it's a weird tactic but it works. And obviously Thiago will be more exposed in that system than anywhere else. To draw parallels from there, where he plays a holding role despite this supposed weakness, and try and claim it wouldn't work here is a bit lazy.

Put it this way, he's better than Matic as a defensive midfielder. So it makes obvious sense.

just remember that he only played the holding role because Pavard was injured and Kimmich had to play as RB. He was fantastic in the final, but you can't draw much conclusions from that, because its a special game and bayern play very different anyway.

What you say is true but he'd still stand out as a star because of the gaping difference in his quality compared to the rest of their midfield. For Bayern they have ridiculous midfield strength and depth.

We’re signing VDB and Mctominay also plays as a CM. There is no way Fred is staying if we sign both Thiago and VDB. He’d then arguably be 3rd choice in the DM role and possibly 4th in the Pogba role. He was a 50m signing. He’d have to be moved on.
They're a similar sort of price, right? £30-35 million. Both adaptable midfielders. Perhaps we're not after both: one is the fall-back option.

We need an AMC as cover for Bruno regardless of if we sign Thiago. Thiago doesn’t bring that. If we bring Thiago in Fred will be sold. I’m absolutely convinced of that. I don’t think we’re signing Thiago though.
Don’t mind either way. I just think if Thiago can be done he has to be the priority in midfield

We have left our DM exposed this season and paid for it. He's not a dm, he's a deep lying play maker and there is a huge difference. He's closer to pirlo than a proper DM. He had a great setup in Bayern with hard working players around him, he will not get that with the suggested lineup.

He is a great player and brings a lot of what we need, but we need to properly balance our midfield with him.
I do not agree that a significant proportion of our goals are due to Matic being exposed.

A significant proportion is down to our inability to play out from deeper areas and coincidentally this is Thiagos biggest strength.

If this is "in addition to" donny van De Beek then it sounds like it's even more fitting given the latter's energy. Besides I've also addressed Thiago does indeed have workers next to him in Bruno, who despite being higher up the pitch is known to track back relentlessly at times.

He did not just play this role for the final though? He's "filled in" long enough to extrapolate worth in a similar role for us.

How or why would a Norweigan journalist know? Because Ole is from the same country?

It's been said that his knowledge of all things United have increased exponentially ever since Ole joined. Like early lineups and so on.

So either he gets it directly from Ole or through a common friend.

So... Maybe de Gea had it right all along?

Only for us to sign Fellaini in the last hours of the window, paying more than his buyout clause was. Absolute trainwreck of a window that was. How Ed survived it I'll never know.

Dont they usually play Kimmich at DM? Thiago was dropping deep because Kimmich was playing at RB due to Pavard being out.

DM is not Thiago‘s position by nature’s never has been not got a clue why people think it is.

They didn't cough up €50m for Werner so maybe they're actually just broke.

Their owners are rich enough and in last 4/5 years their net spend was not much either.

so it feels bit odd to see they cant spend 50M on Werner or 30M on Thiago.

"Why spend when we are already winning"

Their wage bill is a bit of an issue. Their owners also don’t exactly invest a lot of money

Of course we are interested in him. For the rumoured asking price every club should be interested. It depends on what he wants though. Liverpool are in better shape than we are.

Probably the agent texting stuff, but why would he risk a single thing by contacting the media. People are crap at keeping secrets though, at the same time they love to be important.. could be him.

And please let us disregard Fjørtoft, he knows nothing and acts like he’s some bigtime former player. He played for Swindon for god’s sake, he’s an absolute nobody and he’s behaving like a stunt reporter outside of a Justin Bieber-concert.

Him and VDB instead of Sancho. Maybe lineup like this:

VDB-Thiago-Pogba
----------Bruno----------
--Rashford-Martial--

Doubtful though especially that we don't have the fullbacks for it to work.

Not everyone needs to start

He can certainly be a holder with a more combative, defensively great b2b. In fact, that is his ideal position imo.

Thiago - b2b - Pogba (Bruno)

I don't feel Thiago - Pogba - Bruno can work though.

I've got no idea how we deploy the likes of Pogba, Bruno and Thiago without some masterclass of a tactical approach to accommodate all the players. Especially with no anchor between them. Our performances have been far more balanced with Matic sitting in front of the defence. We would surely have to go with 3 at the back to leverage the space in midfield ?

Especially considering they've probably earned more prize money in the last 3 seasons than any other team in the world. Very strange.

Exactly. Reminds me of 2009 and makes me feel physically sick. Win the 3rd PL in a row & come runners up in the CL & what did we do? Invested £0 of all our prize money and TV money, sold Ronaldo for £85m, brought Valencia for £15m from bloody Wigan & took on half-retired Michael Owen as a free transfer when not even Newcastle would keep him then we pocketed that cool £70m transfer profit.

Don't do this to yourselves. He wants to move to Liverpool. Klopp wants him. He costs very little. If the Liverpool board can't sanction a deal like this for a manager who has made them relevant again, then they've given up. It will happen.

That’s why Fred played about 2 games at DM in 2 years.

Seems like you’ve got your head fixed on the idea that he’s just a creative petite Spanish player. He single handedly played DM without support for many games and his style is more suited to the Premier League more than many others.

With Liverpool issue probably is more to do with the wage than transfer fee. He will be such a dream signing. We will have the best midfield in the league with his addition.

He should be someone we’re looking at considering how light we are on creative options in the centre. Don’t really understand how we can’t be interested.

Oh, please. Bayern are leaking this to get Liverpool moving with their bid. We’re everyone’s favorite club to use in these situations. I’m not falling for it. And Rummenigge can get fecked.

Sorry for being the cynical bastard but, come on.
