Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Skyrim has far better gameplay than The Witcher 2 did. It's the story that was poor in comparison. The Witcher 2 had really piss poor combat.

We'll have to disagree. Three big fantasy RPGs came out in 2011, and in terms of combat, I'd list them.

Dark Souls >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Witcher 2 >> Skyrim.

Witcher 2 is passable. Skyrim is terrible.

Correct. Skyrim's combat is terribly bland. Witcher 2's is fine, not the most polished but keeps you on your toes.

Right, I'm off to bed. Alarm set for 23:45!

Managed to get tomorrow off work :D

Not quite a midnight release for me though as I've ordered the physical PC version.

I tried to wangle the rest of the week off work, however, one lad is on holiday, one has quit, my supervisor did his back in so isn't in this week either. I somehow think they're all getting the witcher 3

Can't decide whether to get it on PS4 or PC.

My laptop is probably more than powerful enough(and the PC version is 15 euro cheaper), but I'd prefer it on console.

You'll be expected to dodge a lot in combat, so I'd go with the controller.

There's also a fair bit of horse-riding and ship-sailing which might also be easier to maneuver on a controller.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Almost everyone who's tried it seems to say that the combat simply plays better with a controller.

We'll know in a few hours! Rested and ready to go, come on!

Haha, I tried to get Wednesday as well but for similar reasons to your own I didn't manage to. Instead I've booked next Tuesday off as well so I can have a long bank holiday weekend to play!

It's doing some sort of countdown for me now on Steam. Ready to play in about 5m30s it says now! I wasn't planning to stay up for this but feck that now.

Just played for a bit, absolutely stunning. Combat feels a little clumsy with mouse/kb so far, but that's probably because I haven't gotten a feel for it yet. Might switch to a controller to see if the targetting works better though. Can't wait to see more of the world but it's already 2am here and I've got work tomorrow. That's going to hurt.

Doesn't feel too much better with a controller really, although you can probably put some of that down to me being completely useless with one. Went "back" to keyboard and mouse about an hour in

If there weren't a feck load of people on holidays and out sick at work I'd take Friday off and play this all day, but it's looking like it'd be a dick move. Maybe I am a dick though.

If I hadn't just moved jobs, I would have taken the week off

But none of that matters since the cnuts at Ebuyer STILL haven't delivered my download code

Gotta love the shop I've ordered it from, they couldn't send me a copy yesterday and they're delaying it today as well. If it's not on its way by 4 PM today I'm going to pick it up in a local store and just sell the copy I get via mail when I get it, I'll probably lose a little money but two additional days of playing this are worth it.

Can't you just return the copy you've ordered? When I bought a phone some years ago the first place I ordered it from was dicking around and didn't respond to my emails, so I ordered it from a different place, wrote the first place an email telling them to go feck themselves (after they transferred my money back to my account, obviously) and told the postman I wasn't accepting the packet when he arrived.
Just starting up. Is it true that normal difficultly is too easy?
If you're decent at games like this I imagine it would be. I've died a few times to random enemies, but that was mainly because I was trying to convince myself that I wasn't completely hopeless with a controller. If you're good at using your signs, dodging etc. it seems fairly easy to avoid taking damage from regular enemies. Normal is fine to me though - I'm not going to bother redoing a ton of stuff just for the sake of being more challenged, as I mainly play games like this for the story anyway. :)

I don't think it's "too easy" though. To me, normal should be something that almost everyone can complete and any easier levels are for kids and people who are plain awful at games.

Place I ordered from is doing the same thing. It's bizarre that they don't understand the meaning of pre-order.

You're a Polish gamer and you don't have TW3 on release day. You have shamed your compatriots.

Exactly. I'd paid three weeks before and the intention was that I don't have to go to store, stay in a queue and risk not getting a game because they're short of supply (like it was with Bloodborne). As things stand every single store nearby has it and the one I'd ordered it from are yet to send mine according to system.

I paid in advance and they don't accept returns. I will just sell it, I will probably lose 40 PLN but that's about the worst I can do. I will do credit card so I won't even have to take money out of my account.

Mine has arrived, looking forward to delving head first into it later.

I opened it, patched and installed it to save me the time later. Love that the game comes with all the old school stuff like a map, an actual game manual (haven't seen on for years), characters book, soundtrack, stickers.

Ah, I suppose customer rights is a bit different in Poland. Up here any vendor is forced to accept returns.

I've just ordered it in a local store which owner I know, he will keep one for me when I get there 5PM today. When the other one arrives I will just trade it for store credit and buy Batman with it next month. Problem solved. :)

Finally received my Witcher 3 download code after I rang Ebuyer and threatened to bring the Wild Hunt to their own offices

Going to be a long afternoon at work!
