Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I've just ordered it in a local store which owner I know, he will keep one for me when I get there 5PM today. When the other one arrives I will just trade it for store credit and buy Batman with it next month. Problem solved. :)
Nice solution :)
Finally received my Witcher 3 download code after I rang Ebuyer and threatened to bring the Wild Hunt to their own offices

Going to be a long afternoon at work!

Ok, I'm lowering the difficulty to normal. Been getting my arse kicked.

Don't be a nancy.

Push it back to hard. Use your quens, watch your enemy's attack patterns and strike accordingly and try to isolate them instead of fighting packs.

I'm still waiting for my game to arrive but I've been considering this myself. Is it very challenging above normal?
Well, it may be that I'm crap at games, but the griffin fight was pissing me off. I almost beat it and could have done it if I stuck with it, but I couldn't be arsed in the end. You can change difficulty on the fly, so I'll give normal a go and I hope it's not too easy.

Already freezing. Should've just went with PS4...
Freezing as in crashing?

Mine's arrived and installing from the disks currently. Have to say even the standard physical version is wonderful for PC. Got a copy of the soundtrack, a cool map, stickers, a compendium and even a digital copy of a Witcher comic which I've just read whilst waiting :D

What's your rig?
GTX 780/i5/8GB. It's just a hard freeze, no crashes yet. I have the newest nvidia driver running with mostly high settings and hair textures on Geralt only. So far I've seen:
  • Set frame rate at unlimited instead of 30 or 60.
  • Set at full screen instead of windowed borderless.
So I'll check that when I get home...

Turn hairworks completely off, its a nice effect but eats up 10-15fps. I'd turn vsynch off too.

You should get a solid 50-60fps on your rig on high settings.

I thought all that stuff was just for the special versions, hopefully the PS4 standard version is similar.

Game looks good, but I expected more (playing on Ultra /w HBAO+ at 1440p). Gameplay? Well, I'm not that far in, but it does seem like a marginal upgrade from Witcher 2.

Pretty damn good thus far. Combat isn't silk smooth but it is pretty good.

Lovely soundtrack. Some classic Polish folk combined with a bit more modern fantasy motives. Play with Polish dubbing plus English subs if you want more essence of Sapkowski's lore. (Or play it like you wish, it's good enough anyway)

This game looks right up my street but can't remember the past game I brought that didn't have multiplayer.

Is Geralt's Polish voice actor just as annoyingly gravelly as the English one?

Played this for a few hours. Seems to be taking a while to get going. Feel like I've basically been on a tutorial and cutscenes the whole time.

The mission called 'Family Matters' has been going on forever. I've been doing it for about two hours or so. Don't even think it's part of the main main quest. Guess that shows just how big the storyline is.

This might sound silly but this game is a little too RPG heavy for my tastes. Games like this tend overwhelm me with information at the start. It's also very cut scene heavy. I'll stick with it though. On the plus side, even on the Xbox one it looks quite nice!

For those asking about difficulty, I had never played a witcher game before, but I started this on the hardest difficulty, as soon as I got my first fight (multiple beasts), I got my arse kicked 3 times then lowered it to the 2nd hardest and it seemed simple enough, I'd suggest learning the combat before going to the highest difficulty, I might just play around on this difficulty, then restart on the hardest over the next couple days.

Funny, most of the reviews I've read said it's brilliant at not overwhelming players from the beginning. I get what you mean though, RPG's aren't for everyone. Especially more casual gamers.

Not at all. Maybe a bit less of the growl but still maintains the level of character's dark nature.

Don't take my word for it though. Some solid dialogue samples at 7:50 mark.

Frame rate sucks on Xbox. Hopefully they patch it soon.

5 minutes in and I already managed to die.

Accidently jumped off the balcony while trying to find to key to the bedroom door.

Frame rate seems fine for me on Xbox. Only issue I had was getting stuck on a rock but thankfully restarting sorted that out. Was worried with auto save it may have been one of those game breaking bugs for a minute.

Annoying judder on PS4 when you slowly pan the camera and/or are on a horse. Hopefully the fix it asap.
The camera moves to quick for me I reckon.

Yeah the camera can be weird, I've had to knock it down from hardest difficulty to 2nd easiest already  Griffin was giving my problems. It's a steep combat learning curve imo, I went off what the glossary said too and it just seemed feckin useless.

I'm pretty fed up of modern games (primarily lengthy RPGs) and this "sense" thing your main character has whereby you've to hold down a specific button all the fecking time if you want to find anything. It's stupid, it's just a way for them to make the game pointlessly longer.

I know your pain.

Hello,

I'm here on an appeal from RedCafe FC, the Caf's premier Fifa Pro Club. We are desperately in need of supplies. We have been hit by devastating earthquakes going by the names of the Destiny DLC and The Witcher. All we ask is that we have our players back so we can survive relegation; players like @DatIrishFella @One Night Only and @Damien. Please, help us stop the madness by abandoning your support of these games and giving us our squad back.

Thank You
