Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Even after reading this thread, and hearing people say its the best game they have played, I have literally no desire to play this game. I'm not really a fan of RPG or the fantasy settings - so I guess this is the sticking point for me - but I feel as though I should be wanting to play it, given it's reviews.

For those who have played and love the game - would you consider yourselves fans of this genre / type of game in general?

I think that's the main problem. I for one have never been a massive RPG fan but I do love fantasy. Do you like Game Of Thrones for example? I reckon The Witcher is similar in its delivery.

Well I liked this and Skyrim. Not Dragon Age at all though. I'd never watch a television show or film in this genre because I can't get over the fantasy crap. In a game I'm way more willing to put it to one side.

Turns out there is such thing as too much content for me.

This game is incredible and my unwavering GOTY, but I'm finding it hard lately to jump back into it because I feel fatigued by all the quests I've got left to do.

As much of a first world problem as you'd expect, but I'm just used to wrapping up single player RPGs by the 60 hour mark.

Yeah, I can only play for 2 hours or so now before having to switch off and play the golf club. A lot of the side quests were awesome to start with, but in the end they seem a bit pointless and don't add much, hate the fecking dandelion shit.

I'd love to just bash through the rest of the main quest line, but I don't think the levelling will be good enough without witcher contracts/side quests.

I probably mucked up by getting too many quests early on and focussing on the story, which then made me collect more quests and it became overwhelming. If I played it again, I'd probably try knocking off more side quests and contracts as I went through.

Funny enough, I'm at the pointless Dandelion Cabaret shit now

I'm going to take a break from it I think and finish the old Batman games before coming back to this.

the biggest problem for me are the contracts and the like. Generally it's
a) go ask villagers
b) use witcher senses for fecking ages
c) kill monster

my main annoyance with the game are the overuse of witcher senses, there are no quests that don't involve them and sometimes it's really annoying having to look around the little nooks and crannies.

 Where are you at in the main storyline? I'm at something to do with an ugly baby I think.

Yeah, they pissed me off so I changed the settings to put the witcher senses on the map, piece of piss now and they're less annoying.

Just about to leave for Skellige, I dread the shit load of content that I'll be bukaked with upon docking.

Didn't know you can just put witcher senses on the map!

There's an option, what it does is when you use your witcher sense, anything close comes up on the map as a little magifying glass, then you just follow to map in general

So just started this game, couple of hours in and I'm actually finding it quite difficult. Anytime I bump into someone/thing level 9 or above I get killed instantly... (I'm level 4 - and levelling up seems to take ages!) Any tips?

Quen is your friend. Just take your time while fighting and dont try rush things. And if you fight something with red bar and a skull then you will die instantly more often than not. Advance in story a bit further to level up quicker and then get back to the side quests.

Stay away from level 9's. Areas are pretty random, especially the ? marks, you won't meet stuff at your level all the time.

Stick to the main quests and the side quests they spawn for now, they give loads of xp.

Ta. My knack for these games is always to avoid the main storyline as much as possible... clearly why I'm going wrong!

You know when you start up the game and you get that bit of story with drawn pictures, you get it during some loading stuff aswell. Anyone know if there is a video of all of those? They're class imo. I could listen to an entire audio book if it was told in that way and style with the same voice

Have you tried doing some other secondary quests and witcher contracts? Also kill any bandits in the area too. Hopefully he'll resurrect.

wasnt there another quest when you travel to skellige with Lambert? Could you not fast travel back there and then swim over to the main part?

Yeah did loads of others but now I'm already overlevelled for the stage I'm at.

Even googling it brings up very little @Solius sounds like a rare one, which could spell trouble for you,

Ive a had a couple of bugs, like one of the side quests showing up as failed even though I passed it. But googling this brings up loads of others who have had the same.

I'm about 40 hours in and still haven't gone to Skellige  I've been meaning to move there soon but there have been too many side quests to complete in Velen plus I need to finish main quests in Novigrad too.

Is this true that there's still more than 50 per cent of content left after you reach Skellige and the isles are at least as big as Velen?

Mmm... I don't know about 50% of the content being after you reach Skellige. There are a buttload of crap hidden treasures in the sea that aren't worth your time, though...

What language to you play the game in

Form me it obviously feels right with the English, Scottish and Irish accents. But I imagine playing it in Polish is like a different game, even though its a polish game etc...

I'm playing it in English at the moment. A lot of my friend have recommended me to switch to Polish but I don't want to change in the middle of game, I will probably re-play it in the future in Polish.

I don't really play games in Polish.

Found this and a couple other threads but that's it.

That Cabaret quest actually gets really good believe it or not! I just got past it the other day. I think I'm in a similar boat to you guys, I still love the game but I've not been playing it much recently. I know that I will eventually play through it all though so I'm glad it's as big as it is, it's just good to have a break from it and play some other stuff for a while.

Just come across a level 48 Archgriffin on a tiny island just north of the main Skellige island. He took me out with one hit.
