Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

@DatIrishFella
Lol at Lambert. Bastard spent all his pre-battle time bitching about Yen but ends up becoming Keira's lapdog. Letho's dialogue during the battle is brilliant too. 'We gonna take him [Imlerith] on?' ''Nah, too risky.' 'Pansy.' :D

Yeah, Letho is awesome. And Lambert, he was dying for his hole! Getting drunk with him and Eskel was one of the best moments in the game, oul Lambert had the fine idea to call up the Lodge of Sorceress and invite them to Kaer Morhen for drinks.

Not only call them up, but dress in Yen's clothes.

Gwent really is genius. I don't just mean the game itself but more how it enhances the overall experience of the game and how it gets you more interested in all the characters.

Some guy drops a 10 pointer hero card of some dood I'd never heard of and I'm immediately wondering who he is and why he merits such a good card.

I've had Ves in my deck since my first game, average card, nothing special, but I've just seen her for the first time in game and I'm now looking forward to learning about her, hearing her story, etc.

Immersion baby!

You have the option to bang her in TW2. The more you know.

Just completed it. I think I got the worst ending possible.

One of the best games I've ever played, was hooked from start to finish to both the story, and the world itself. Might play on death march in a month or so to see if I can improve the ending!

This game is not compatible with full time work and a girlfriend.

Something has to go.

I'm making little inroads into the main story quests in Velen because I keep getting distracted by other things.

Given I don't have loads of time to play and I'm coming into a busy period of weekend, reckon I'll not finish this for weeks, maybe months.

so, im level 23, about 3 and a half days playtime in, and just starting the "ugly baby" quest, how far in am i for anyone whose completed the game?

Bought this last night.

Can't wait to get home and start it up!

Anyone got any useful pointers for early on in the game?

Just explore and take your time to learn in the first area, if you see anything with a high level then its probably best to run and come back later when you've progressed abit.

Also learn gwent when you get the chance.

How much does it take away from the game if you don't play Gwent? I'm sure I'd like it if I tried, but the game is so massive that it just feels like it would take up way too much time playing it.

My slight OCD about looting absolutely everything is bothering me too. Any new village I visit I have to go into every house to take everything or I'm afraid I'll miss something. This adds on more time that takes away from actually questing. Is it just me or do 99% of items looted just go to waste? There's just not enough to craft for the amount of items looted. I know you can just sell anything you don't need, but there just seems to be way too many different items for the sake of it.

These are tiny downsides by the way. It's still easily one of the best games I've played so far.

Gwent is just a mini-game really but one that is done brilliantly. I'm not finished the game, I haven't even reached Skellige yet but I don't think you'll miss out on a whole lot if you don't play Gwent.

So, i'm not very far into the game only at level 4 and just into Velen. Found a sidequest to find out where this guys wife has gone. Anyway, turns out
she's dead and been killed by a werewolf, i then had to track the werewolf back to it's lair and fight it. The cnut regens health way faster than i can do damage to it though. I am using igni and the silver sword too. Is it just a case of i'm too low level? Oh, i don't have a werewolf entry in my bestiary either so i don't know what things really work that well on them

It's no biggie really though, i was just gonna leave it for now and do other bits but if anyone can set me straight there that'd be cool.

You need to find/buy a diagram for Moon Dust. It's a bomb that stops monster health regen for a certain amount of time.

Werewolves are pretty tricky when your a low level. Moon Dust has been suggested and Cursed Oil on your sword will help you out as well.

You're too low of a level for that quest. I remember I had the same problem with it. Level up a bit and return to it later on, shouldn't be that much of a problem then.

I did that yesterday at level 5. Check your inventory to see if you can craft any better silver swords. I crafted a great one for my level and found the werewolf simple enough. Don't know where I got the plan though. I found using Quen helped too, lets you be a bit reckless with attacks to get more damage in. If you get hit, move away, recast and go again.

Thanks for the suggestions, i'll give them all a go!

Gwent gwent gwent, it is shite and overrated. It gets uncomfortable seeing grown hairy male football supporters carrying beerbellies rave about a simple little ripoff card game like this.

You're the worst type of person.

I fecking love the trolls in this game
"Tala sit.. sit arsedown! Tala suckcock shoeses make!"

I haven't played Gwent since the tutorial game at the start.

This game saps most of my free time already without getting involved in a card mini game.

Same here. I only get to play it in the evening/nights during the week because of work. It's times like this game when you wish you were unemployed.

Found my first minor problem ive encountered with the game, im heading into what can only be called the final act, a "point of no return" so to speak, at level 25, i have no side quests left to do and i need another level before i can craft my next set of upgraded witcher gear i would want for the final portion of the game, i have absolutely no way of getting the experience i can see.

I'm level 18, did the quest
with the serial killer for Dandelion last night, seriously fecking grim stuff, but brilliant. I was full sure the Dandelion plot was done after building his theater and then I get this great almost 2 hour long side quest that could've been a plot in itself. That's why the game is so good.

Anyway, end game players, how long do I have left? I've some minor things to do in Novigrad at my level and I plan on going to Skellge soon.

That quest actually annoyed me a bit when I did it - maybe I did some other quests similar to it right around it or something, but ...
that whole "everything that could possibly go wrong, will go wrong" go a bit tedious I thought. A bit too much Murphy's Law. When Priscilla said "I'm just going home to change" I immediately thought "well, now I'm going to have to rescue her from something in a few minutes".

It also annoyed me a bit that he taunts you with the fact that you didn't react to him being very old but not looking like it (I don't remember the line, but something like "a good witcher would've picked up on this sooner". When he was talking about him being that old doctor's professor I thought something was off, but I didn't really see a way to react to that in the game.

But yeah, it was a solid side-quest in general - like many of the others in the game.

Haven't had much time to play this week but I've finally moved on to Novigrad, I intend to get back to Velen after I sort some quests here because there's very little left for my level in Velen that I haven't already completed. Once you go to Skellige getting back to Velen is impossible for a while, right? As for the game, once I leave Velen will I have about the same amount of time of play in Skellige, and is Skellige comparable in size with Velen?

I'd guess I still have about 30-40 side quests that I haven't discovered and haven't completed yet in Velen so I expect to stay there for another 10-15 hours easily. Besides I'm only level 12, not quite ready to advance my trip.

Currently looking for Dandelion. I actually enjoyed the lasses concert in the bar, I liked the song.

Out of interest, are you playing it in English or Polish?

I've decided to go with English. It was a big dilemma though, I just reckon they've probably put more effort into English dialogues - don't know why though, probably because quite often Polish translations tend to be underwhelming. I've heard good things about Polish dialogues in this, I might play it over again in Polish.
