Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

You're going to find it hard going back to it after this. The quests and characters are so bland in comparison. The world feels so much less alive too.
Witcher 3 is exceptional in that aspect. As I've said, you can be running from point A to point B and encounter three different quests that will draw you in and you won't be able to resist completing them. The fact that you tend to stockpile them when you're at a lower level because you cannot approach everything early into the game makes it even better as you always have it on the back of your mind that you need to get back to something. I don't think this game can be completed and fully explored in 100 hours.

Spent the past two hours making the mastercrafted Griffin & Feline Armours ..... :/ I shan't ever be doing that again! Only need one more component for the Ursine armour thankfully.

About 15 hours in and I only find out now that you can swipe up on the touchpad to access the map and hold the touchpad to access the inventory.

Feck sake.

Novigrad - holy space balls, the size and atmosphere of the place.

On a different note anyone tried playing Dragon Age inquisition after this? I went back curiously and couldn't believe how much poorer it felt - in quests, locations and general atmosphere. And this was a game I really rated.

I was thinking about this the other day. I really didn't care for most of the characters in DA:I since they're all either ridiculously annoying or bland (maybe Cass or Varric get a pass but everyone else was just meh). The Baron alone is by far more interesting than any character I've encountered in DA:I. I really hope they don't feck up the next Mass Effect's story and characters like they did with that game.

Late game major spoilers.

Just did the battle of Kaer Morhen, and WOAH! that was fantastic, felt like applauding afterwards  Uncle Vesimer though, those feels at his funeral. :( also had a snowball fight with Ciri and we're off to kill Imilreth now at a Witches sabbath
Did you save Lambert? He died on mine too.

I got so used to playing with the shitty frame rate on Xbox that now it is patched it feels like I am playing in fast forward.

Nah, although it would be no great loss, he's such a prick, felt he turned a corner after the druken shenanigans, dressing up in Yen's clothes etc but nope. Me, him & Letho kicked some Aen Elle arse. Tbh I still feel a bit OP even on Blood & Broken Bones, I'm dreading and reveling in the thought of playing through it on Death March, especially with making different choices etc.

I have one question for you, right now I'm on the Final Preperation questline, you help Ciri in Novigrad, talk to Yen in Crippled Kate's, Avallac'h & Triss in Dandelions but you mentioned something about the resolution of Radovid's assassination, I did a side quest earlier with Djikstra & Roach and completed it, is that resolved in game or in the epilogue/ending?

I think - I think - you might have missed it. It opens up when you start recruiting people, apparently to Kaer Mohren. I also did the first part, helping some guy with a cart pretending to be a merchant right? But I never saw the option for continuation. Plus, doing it changes the end game in a way I didn't want. I'll tell you about that when you complete the game. Yeah, I didn't care much for Lambert either. If you have Keira there he gets saved no matter what I believe. Vesemir's death was moving though.

Also, when on the map, if you press L3 (or equivalent) it will direct you straight to your quest point. I didn't realise this until now, level 35 and all.

I am blotto nplaying this and i k own tomoorow that I won't remember a thing is there a hournal way that keeps me updated on whatb\ I did?

Pisses me off the way Geralt sometimes dodges towards the f*cking thing I'm trying to avoid, even though I'm holding another direction.

I have that trouble at times. Bit of a pain in the arse.

Right, so I've just started playing this and was wondering whether anyone had any advise on what I should be using my skill points on. So far I've put two points into the fast attack and one into the general skill which regenerates your health during the day.

Should I be concentrating on making oils and bombs?

The game is amazing but my one criticism is that the menu's are a little overwhelming to begin with and you are kind of left feeling like you don't know what you're doing.

I only found out yesterday that you can change signs on the fly by holding L2/LT whilst fighting and using left and right on the d-pad. SO much better than constantly bringing up the wheel.

I wouldn't. Oils and bombs aren't anywhere near as important as last game. Go for fast build combat and the signs - mainly Quen and Igni.

Axii - Delusion & Puppet Master, max them out if you want to influence dialogue options and take control of enemies. Quen, exploding shield and active shield, Yrden, having two traps at the same time is vital.

They're the most important imo. Throw the rest into fast and strong attack, maybe one or two into deflect arrows as bandit camps can become a pain in the arse when they have a few archers.

Had a funny moment earlier where I picked up a quest from an old woman who wanted her home cleared of monsters. Had a dialogue option to say I've done it already. Cool that you can complete quests before you've even got them.

Yeah I've picked up a few quest items before finding the actual quests.

Finally on my way to Novigrad for the first time. Had the game a week

Thank you very much.

Never mind. I got sidetracked and I'm now almost as far away from Novigrad as I could possibly be while in Velen.

Just completed the game. I think later on I am going to start a new game.

I want to but I still feel so exhausted I'll have to wait a little while.
Which ending did you get? Ciri became a witcher on mine. I didn't want her to become empress, especially under the reign of Philippa. I, err, sort of bonked both Yen and Triss so I ended alone, and Radovid ended up conquering. I didn't like the Emperor and as much as I liked both Djikstra and Roche if you let one rule they'd kill the other.

I got the exact same

Great minds think alike I guess.

On my next play through I am going to try and do everything on my first play through different.

Yeah, same. Different skill build, armour etc... Should be good.

A full on Alchemy build would be fun for a second playthrough. I've heard you have to approach things very differently but that it is a treat once you get the hang of it and you can eventually do some crazy stuff.

I haven't been this hooked to a game since Oblivion. Not even Skyrim had as much of a hold.

Playing this makes me realise, in my opinion, how hollow Skyrim was.

Quests like collect "Collect 5 Bear hides" or "Collect 10 Nirnroot" and all the copy paste dungeons look fairly crap now.

feck sake, my game now crashes to desktop whenever I try to load a save. Hopefully a reinstall will fix it.

@DWelbz19

I found out how to initiate the Radovid assassination misson. When you go with Triss to find Phillpa, you tell Djikstra the Emepror's plans to abdicate the thrown and give it to Ciri, thus with Radovid out of the way, she might end the war on her own.

I'm going to do it, because Radovid is proper psycho. Don't spoil the outcome please!

Ah, fair enough.

Considering how much I still play and enjoy Dragon Age Inquisition...Witcher 3 must be something else. I've seen some screenshots of Witcher and it's artstyle looks a bit bland to me. Although I've only seen 2/3 screenshots as I've tried to avoid looking at stuff.
