Not fat gutted. Hirsuteness of shoulders TBD.
It was a good show, nothing more, nothing less.
GOAT? Absolutely not.

You're one of those rare "it was a good show" people. The Wire usually seems to polarize more. What is your GOAT then?

Dunno really, I don't normally wank about TV shows.
I started about a year back. Absolutely hooked from the 2nd episode on I think and watched the entire thing in few weeks. My routine was : get up and go to work. Return and watch wire till I sleep. Repeat again.I started watching it when it was airing in America because someone on a forum told me about it. I was downloading torrents like crazy and staying up til 3am because it was always "just one more episode before bed". It was like crack.
Yeah I really enjoyed it.I guess many of you will have seen it already, but Show Me a Hero is really, really good.
Directed by David Simon.
It's not trying to be The Wire v.2, and it's not as good, but still very much worth it for people who like his work.
I've STILL not watched this, mainly because I can't be arsed with the hassle of downloading it all...
Is it on Amazon/Netflix? Guessing not, as I've not seen it anywhere...
Depending on your language, subtitles is also a good idea...
It's on HBO Go
Good advice. Don't know how it is for native English speakers (not American ones), but I really struggled to understand what they were saying on the first two seasons. I needed subtitles there.Depending on your language, subtitles is also a good idea...

"Money aint got no owners. Only spenders".
"Weather going this way (warmer). People another yo (colder)."
"Giving a feck when it isn't your turn to give a feck."
"You either play or get played. But you can't lose if you don't play."
One of The Wire's best things is that the show is true to real life in terms of human politics.
Joe had some great lines.Prop Joe had the best delivery:
"Fool, if it wasn't for Sergei here you and your cousin both would be cadaverous motherfeckers."
One of my favourite things about the Wire is the succinctness. It especially does a good job of showing that inner city slang is too easily dismissed as low brow, when in fact it can convey anything you want, just like language in general.
"You either play or get played. But you can't lose if you don't play."
You're right.Think your combining Omar's "the game is out there and it's play or get played." And Daniels' wife saying "the game is rigged but you cannot lose if you do not play"
I need subtitles for Peaky Blinders.Subtitles for Baltimore accents![]()

David Simon did an AMA today:

I didn't have a problem with that, but for me the newsroom angle was very contrived (ex. the grizzled journalist who helps out even after he's let go; the cartoon-villain reporter who relentlessly stretches the truth, etc.) I think David Simon really let his own issues with the Sun colour his story-telling here. However, I thought the season ended on a very strong run of episodes. The worst part of S5 for me is how they bump off Omar. It's very contrived.
