Television The Wire

It doesn't matter how many times I rewatch this show, this scene still makes me laugh every time.

Finished watching the series a few week ago with it being on my watch list for a while. I'm amazed that I'd never watched this show when it was aired, perhaps because I was younger but they never aired it on tv over here. It's definitely without a doubt one of my favourite shows ever now. Love the outro theme at the end of the episodes too.

I think it was shown late-night on BBC2 (yes I know unbelievable) a few years ago...i saw a random episode on FX - now Fox - from Series 1 and got into it that way.

3 episodes left in Season 4 for me. Show is great.

:eek::eek::eek:

Bloody hell. Just read her Wiki and she's had quite the interesting life. Not too far from the character she played!

I am on my 3rd time watching it. I seem to enjoy it more even and I thought it was the best tv series even back in the days.

I'm sure the guy who played the priest is a former prominent drug dealer too.

I thought that the guy playing the priest was who Avon Barksdale was based on.

Yea the Deacon was a kingpin back in the day.

Also the real Jay Landsman actually plays Lt Mello.

Not to mention the real Omar helping Omar out in the pokey

Holy crap. The snoshberries taste like snoshberries.

Finished.

Probably going to rewatch it by the end of the year, as it's just that good. Kinda annoyed at myself for taking so long to get around to it, but it's no doubt in HBO's top 3 with Curb & The Sopranos for me.

Only character I didn't love was Brother Mouzone. Just felt a tad... OTT.

Its modern-day Shakespeare. Rewatchable anytime.

Yeah, I think most people felt that he was very out of place on this show.

Yeah everyone I've spoken to said the same once I mentioned it to them. Still, he's not a bad character - Just not up to par with the others. That moment where...

He & Omar meet in the alley

... Is great.

Yeah it's a brilliant scene. I do love how Omar is sometimes tagged as the other "unrealistic" character, then you find out the real guy did even crazier shit

Gus Haynes might be the only character who is always right. Even other "good" characters have their obvious flaws and moments where they do something we don't agree with. In some ways Gus is just as unrealistic as Mouzone.

That's an interesting pov. We never get to see an elaborate arc to the Gus Haynes character, so we never know what his flaws really are. Although the character might sometimes come across as preachy, I would never put him in the same ranks as Mouzone.

I really need to start watching this.
Mate, I started watching a long time ago and then stopped (God knows why). Then I recently started watching again. The first few episodes are bit slow then my God it gets good. I understand why it is called the best show ever to be made.

Although I will say, pay attention in the first few episodes- it would do you a world of good.

Just watching this again for the second time and loving it just as much as I did before. Season 1 is still my favourite just because the ambience is perfect and it captures so many things I can associate with. It's just a fantastic show, and sometimes it's more like watching a documentary than a tv show. It's just amazing. Love it!

Watching season 5 of it on Sky Box sets... once I am done, can't wait to read through this thread.
