Television The Walking Dead

That was the filler episode of all filler episodes, I even fell asleep!

I feel that the zombie survival formula has its limitations. After a while, it becomes difficult to come up with interesting twists and new ideas. TWD is turning into the TV equivalent of an RPG. It's basically the same thing over and over again, but with slightly tougher opponents and higher stakes as time progresses. If you're a sucker for the genre/lore, then you're likely to enjoy it even if you can see its weaknesses. If not, then you're either gonna drop it quickly(like a sensible person), or become like some of the miserable people in this thread who should have dropped it a looooong time ago.

As for the episode, I actually like Ezekiel. He's charismatic and interesting without taking it too far. I wonder if he's a competent figher, though..

Lost so much interest while watching this episode. Next week's looks so much better though.

Game Of Thrones does filler perfectly. The Walking Dead needs to take notes.

It was fine, not sure who else they could introduce the new town and characters...so it was also going to have the feel of a filler

I actually ended up quite liking the king character. He is a good actor too

Meh bit boring but not too bad, I like Ezekiel though he's an interesting character. Wasn't the worst filler episode they've done.

imo I have a feeling at season end the groups will team up and take on Negan's group but all roads are leading to Ezekiel's tiger killing Negan in another gruesome death that'd be pretty cool.

My god, what a boring episode. I swear, TWD really doesn't know how to handle fillers.

By the way, the plot is pretty much writing itself now isn't it?
The Knights, Hilltop and Rick's group defeat the Saviors.

I think people are going overboard too. It was ok, but yeah of course you can see a union coming.
The tiger was overly CGT, mind.

They should have a full episode solo to camera piece with Carole masturbating.

The King's people look like a bunch of shitc**ts. How are they going to take on Negan's bastards and win? Peach cobbler eating, laundry-doing, tomato-tending, shit-singing shitc**ts

Was that episode a joke? What a waste of an hour.

They had to introduce the new group in some way though. It can't really be zombie slaying and gore and blood 100% of the time because then you'd struggle to get character development and progress the plot.

I don't know why people constantly don't get this.

Was ok. I was wondering wtf they were doing with a Skyrim Jarl character but he turned out pretty cool. Did find myself doing other things while it was on though.

They've always struggled with this "fillers" when Rick and his crew were in settlements for long periods of time.

When they were on the road, moving from place to place and discovering new places, the show's been at it's best.

Probably the show with the biggest discrepancy between its "top level" (best episodes") and its bottom level.

Nothing fillerish about this episode at all. It was introducing you to some more characters in a bigger world. If all people want is pure high spots and action then you are all in for disappointment. There is plenty to come, but they need to be able to introduce things and let them build or no one would care. If you want pure action like that, watch Ash vs Evil dead, which is fecking ace and more action packed and gorier in a single episode than entire series of walking dead. I watched an episode of it before the walking dead season opener with negans victims and found the bludgeoning tame in comparison to Ash's Delta ripping of the face of its victim.

It's not filler if it's introducing new things and moving a plot forward, guys.

The problem for me is, do these filler episode always have to focus on only 2 characters? Couldn't they have showed some scenes of Rick's group and then switch back to Morgan/Carol again?

Yeah. Was cool to watch that he immediately sees the truth about Carol and Morgan.

I enjoyed tis episode. Interesting new characters, and believable plot (past of the King, how he get the tiger, relationship with the saviours, state of carols mind)

Bet you will still watch at the earliest chance again next week though

I will never get how people can watch a show they do not enjoy
I know right?
I have no problem with slow building but a lot of the earlier eps this season were just awful with pointless moments and terrible acting and a few real terrible story lines

I know right?
I give GoT Equal amounts of praise and love

And for the first 5 few seasons I rarely had a bad word to say about it. IT was only the recent two seasons where I thought it went downhill

you are one of the highest posters in this thread for a show you hate

Me and the missus no longer watch this shite, it was depressing giving up early into season 6 but enough was enough. It wasn't because of the stuff they expected us to believe, after all it's a zombie apocalypse, but the fact they kept trying to make the show something they clearly weren't capable of writing for. However, I still find myself reading this thread for the real fun

I particularly love the guys desperately trying to still like this shite making excuses for it. Much better than the writers who get paid shitloads!

Its my favourite show on TV right now :(

Because it's a great show, maybe? Doesn't mean you don't call shit episodes shit, which you have.

I've often praised TWD for its good episodes, the first episode of this season was enjoyable, for example, doesn't mean I can't call the shit episodes shit, and there are a lot of shit ones.

I always find it funny when people moan about others being critical of a show, as if it's a personal insult to them.

I don't 'hate' TWD, by the way, I'd say it's like 75% nonsense with some good episodes and some enjoyably terrible ones, too. That was a legitimately fecking awful episode, though.

calm down buddy

I says what I sees

You like what you like, I've always respected that and you've never quite got that my criticisms of stuff isn't directly down to peoples tastes, more the shite put out that we have to accept as norm. In fact sometimes I envy that, take the latest Doom for example, I really wish I could be as excited playing it as you clearly were :(

These are the worst kind of people. It's like they don't get what a fecking message board/forum is for! Somehow though, it's become the normal thinking to argue with people pointing out the shit stuff in their opinion, rather than caring about the shit stuff they are being fed. But hey, as I always say, if it's shiny or gory and very simplistic, the suckers will love it! ;)

So do I. It's like you're calling them an idiot or something. It's perfectly fine to like enjoy shite. Look at Pauldy & Schwein go in the movie review thread for instance.

This is still a passable watch to me. Much better than it was a few seasons back where I literally stopped and missed out a whole chunk of it. But like I said this weeks episode was a classic mobile phone one in that it didn't require me to pay any real attention to it.

The problem this show has is that it's difficult to give a shit about any of the characters. Characters too who don't really develop but just seem to reset themselves every couple of seasons. It would be a must watch if the character development matched the scenario. As it is, I'm more invested in the hosts from Westworld after the first 4 episodes than I've ever been in anyone in this.

Shame you dont like DOOM, thought it was great fun. Got the platinum for it too
