Television The Walking Dead

That might just save the group, seeing as the Priest has tried to stitch them up and they're about to tell the leader that her son is dead. If both the original villagers had died, it might have "confirmed" what the Priest was saying.

 Saved them from what? They can take that place any time they want to.

Well, confrontations etc. Having their hands forced.
They are still heavily outnumbered despite being far more skilled, so they wouldn't necessarily come out of it unscathed.

Suppose that might have looked the case, but with Noah also not coming back/girl seriously injured being apart of their group and not the villagers it doesn't look like the ideal set up to just kill off their people.

It all depends on how it was interpreted and if Glen's story was believed etc.

I think the guy he let live might try and lie to save his own skin yet, he's been set up as a dick from the get go.

Thought it was another good one. Really upped the stakes in terms of gore this week, which was no harm.

It's leading to a good finale hopefully. The Senator woman has been shown so far to have too much sense than to be swayed by Carver's speech, but you can tell she is a little wary of how strong Rick's group are becoming in Alexandria. Her son's death will surely make her question their intentions seriously, especially if the Aiden fella decides to spin a yarn. It'll be his word vs Eugene and Glenn's and if she's already wary of them she mightn't believe them.

Best episode in a very long time that. Actually paid attention to it the whole time and wasn't just watching it in the background while I do other shit. Last couple of episodes should be good.

I still can't work out why they decided to go to town on the long, gory, drawn out death scenes in that episode. Not a criticism, just strikes me as unusual. Are they trying to remind people that zombies are still there and still scary or something?

I gave up watching this about 5 episodes back but one of my mates told me it actually went pretty good again. I've caught up with it over the past few days and it actually has gone entertaining again. I just wish the whole season was like this, or just one slow episode every now and then instead of there being like 5 slow pointless episodes in a row.

It's to keep the key demographic happy. Plenty of people who watch it have absolutely no interest in minutiae like plot or character development (evidenced by the huge support season 2 had among the hardcore fans, despite being some of the worst television in the history of television, ever) so the writers/producers have to keep the splatter count high. And, of course, as the show goes on, they have to keep coming up with new, unique and more twisted ways to satisfy that audience.

I get that. It just seemed quite a sudden time to decide to ramp up the gorey death sequences. Why the sudden need to start shocking people with blood and death and screaming in agony etc on that episode? Just seemed out of character for the show is all.

I suppose considering they are so terrible at both plot and character development, going to zombie b-movie mode is far more interesting than listening to yet another uninspired speech from a character soon to die.

Without trying to say too much...spoilered just in case.

I think a key part of it was for Glen to see that in person and how it will effect him going forward.

Yeah that may well be right. Glenn certainly isn't going to come out of that encounter completely normal. I do think that they're trying to get the viewers a bit more subconsciously 'scared' of the walkers though too. A lot of the big plot up to that point has focused on humans becoming the main issue (Governer, Hunters, Terminus etc) and the walkers had become kind of secondary to that. I reckon now they're safer than they've been for a long while, they've decided to amp up the scariness. Just to remind viewers what walkers are capable of?

I agree with that. I think the show still mostly focuses on the aspect of seeing how people deal with all this...and the last few seasons seemed to have really geared it more towards other groups of people being the biggest threat. Something like this just reminds everyone that at any time, the walkers can still tear someone apart if given the chance. I won't say much more about Glenn, because I know this is about the show, rather than TWD in general. Don't want to say too much :)

I'm sure most of you have maybe seen this video and maybe it's probably been posted somewhere among the 100+ pages of this thread but if you like walking dead as I'm sure you do then please watch this, it had me literally in stitches. The guv'nor's part at the end is hilarious.

Just watch the lips rather than the captions as you can easily make out what they say

Its great. I think theres a second part of that as well. Both have catchy songs.

Pretty tame episode until the end....is Grimsey going to be kicked out? Hes going off the deep end again but he was right in what he was saying. I find it odd they havent discussed the "W" yet or havent asked the townsfolk if they have any idea what that is all about.

Btw Carl er Chandler Riggs is on Talking Dead tonight....hair looks just as bad as in RL....but he seems like a decent kid.

After death of his wife, Rick's mental health was decreasing through the series but in the same time it kept him alive. Choice between drunken wife beater and heavily traumatised survivor should be quite easy in so called 'civilized' society.

Go figure.

I don't think Rick is mental enough. After everything they've survived, I'd have sacked that town the moment I walked through the gates.

I love mental Rick, average episode though too pointless many side stories, I don't care about sasha, I don't care about Glenn and the other guy, i don't care about Carl and his little ho.

Rick just went full Shane. You never go full Shane.

Rictatorship returns.

Ending made that episode, but tbf, I dont mind episodes like this if we its one in three and we get two or three like the previous ones. Given its a season finale next week, its fine and sets up whats going to happen to Rick vs rest of his group vs town.
Should be interesting.

It's always better when Rick goes berserk.

I don't like the people in this town, except for the wife, slaughter them all.
