I'm not sure it's actually possible to 'choke' against Federer, if you're even close to him you're usually having the game of your life, and the closer you get to taking anything off him, the better he gets

Fed was class after saving that second break point. Djokovic had no chance in that tie break.

Novak's lost it mentally, don't think he believes he can win it now.
Shame really, Fed hasn't been as good as he was against Roddick and Novak should have won atleast one.

I am being unfair, but missing 7 set points, kin hell.

You have to give credit to Federer as well for keeping his cool in those long rallies and i think in terms of unforced errors neither player has done too badly but Federer has the mental edge which can only have come from playing so many important finals like these.

Still a big gap between these two players. Federer is mentally so much stronger, just compare the body language between the two.

I reckon Federer's going to remembered as one of the greatest sportsmen of all time, let alone the best in his field if he continues like this.

I doubt its going to be smooth sailing for him now, the competition around him is heating up.

Sharapova sat in his box, chanting "Novak, Novak, Novak." He's well-known for being good looking and a nice guy.

Question is...

Is he knobbing that stunning Russian beauty?

i just wanna punch federer's gf's face. she's just got that kind of face

Roger's the man. At the business end of the tournament, he won his last 3 matches against the world numbers 3, 4 and 5 in straight sets. Phenomenal. The harder they push him, the more he raises his game.

Djokovic is now a serious rival to Nadal for the number 2 spot.

Rusedski saying now on Sky Sports that Roger will find it very difficult to win another Grand Slam, though, because he's now 26. And obviously you can't win a Slam once you're 26, because Sampras didn't win another five.

And let's be honest, when he was 26, Sampras had won ten titles. Federer has won twelve. I think he's on his way to beating the record, but I think the one thing that gets him is he's never won the French Open. I reckon he'd sacrifice all other three Slams one year just to win at Roland Garros. But at the same time I think he'll figure out Nadal on clay before Nadal or Djokovic figure him out on grass and hardcourt.

How did everyone's predictions work out?

Mine were 100% wrong for matches involving Chakvetadze and 100% right for matches not involving Chakvetadze. I've probably missed out on a champions league spot because of her.

To be fair he didn't quite say that, he said he'd start to find it harder, but would still go on to break Sampras' all time Grand Slam winning record. Which is probably a fairly accurate statement. Bar the whole finding it harder aspect of course, because he's far too good to let something silly like age get in his path!

It is the mark of a true champion that Fed can win when not playing his best. He looked like he was perhaps a bit tight through most of the match and made a lot of errors but when the chips were really down he came through. Remarkable. I also think he will find it hard to win 3 slams a year from now on but I can see him still winning Wimbledon a couple more times and the odd Oz open or U.S. Hope he wins the French but as long as Nadal is fit that will be hard; although he is getting closer. I think he will beat Sampras' record.

Wow, what a brave bet. And just because you say "I hope this helps", it doesn't make you some kind of a genius and the rest of us as some kind of idiots.

No offence.

I am going for my money? And you? :D

The amazing thing is that Federer hasn't been up to his best this year and has managed to win 3 grand slams. But it'll be interesting to see how he reacts to the increased competition. I wouldn't be surprised if he just raises his game to a new level as well.

The guy is just too good. As much as I don't like him, he is probably going to be the best ever. He is already ahead of Pistol Pete for me and the only comparision I see is with regards to Borg who retired way too early.

For me he his already the best ever. It´s frightening how good this Swiss is. He is the most complete player ever. And you don´t have to be his fan to admit that. You can even hate him but you can´t deny that he is very special.

Some guy is Federer. When you watch him you think to yourself this is the type of guy that could be good at anything. How come some people do not like him? Seems like a nice guy to me or has he done something i have not read about yet?

I was so pissed last night when Djokovic didn't convert 5 set points in the first set and then 2 set points in the second set. You can see that Djokovics time has come and that he will win one grand slam pretty soon. I look forward to see him in more grand slam finals to come. 3-0 was a bit to brutal and so said Federer the game was much closer than that. Great to see that Djokovic handled the loss pretty good in the end and he seemed quite happy. And for some unknown reason I have started to like Sharapova now :D

As for Federer, not only that he plays good and probably has one of the greatest serves in the history of the game(which many fail to see) he has to be the luckiest tennis player ever. If Sampras or Agassi had played like Federer played last night they would have lost the game. But as they say, a fantastic tennis player has luck on his side.

And did any of you guys see that Robert De Niro was sitting in Novaks supporter box. That is respect :)

He consistently beats players I like into submission without breaking a sweat. Its quite annoying!!

What a player though. has elevated tennis to another level.

Ahh, of course he did have a bit of luck. Like Agassi had against Medvedev at RG for example, like Sampras had many times... I think you are just trying to "find something" on Federer.

to be fair he gave him more than a sniff
