Music The Ultimate Metal thread.

They were better when I was doing vocals :) nah they are good lads, I will send you a link of some other new stuff that my new band is doing if you like that you should like my new one as well.

That was the Summer Jam show ? Or was it the Tattoo Convention that Amongst Carrion played ?

Yeah summerjam, i didn't catch all the bands but mainly the friday/saturday ones. Yeah on you go, i would like to hear them!

Heard this song yesterday. Classified as desert rock, so not really metal but it really verges on being so. Think you'd enjoy it if you're into bands like Red Fang.

Benton's a bit of a tool though, can't even play the bass - the Deicide drummer has had to record all the bass parts in their albums

R.I.P Mitch of Suicide Silence. fecking amazing band and vocals. Only 28, died in a motorcycle accident.

I'm suddenly in a big Kreator mood. Here's one of my favs and it's probably off their best album as well.

Going to see Testament in a couple of weeks. Haven't listen to them in ages, I remember them only from the early 90s and back then I thought it's pretty decent trash metal. Needless to say The Legacy was one of the hottest song of that time. Should be fun.

Would like to go see Steve Vai in December but it's too expensive and only seating.

Friend of mine went to see Motorhead and Anthrax last week, I think in Nottingham, said it was crap. Anthrax played too short and Lemmy talked too much.

Why do people reckon the cad seems to have such an low amount of metal lovers? Seems to be a lot of interest in hip hop and indie but its very bare on our front

I reckon there are simply more people that listen to indie and hip hop and the caf reflects that statistic. Also, when you listen to metal it's not the only thing you listen to. I listen to some indie stuff as well but I don't listen to hip hop at all really. So the mellower rock will always have a bigger following.

People are often afraid of metal or afraid to give it a shot. There's so much variety in it yet one black metal song is enough to put them off all of it. It's also one of the least commercial genres. Despite what the metal elitist say, more bands like Korn and Avenged Sevenfold and stuff like that are needed if the metal wants a bigger crowd. But I don't see it as a problem as such. They are a more loyal bunch as a whole and frequently buy old albums as well as merc.

This is also and Irish site with a big Irish population. I don't think the metal scene is huge in Ireland. Much bigger in some states in the US or Scandinavia.

I cant really keep up with all the new bands, the majority of which suck major balls imo. I hate bands that just want to be faster, louder and more vulgar than the rest. I love metal that creates atmosphere when you're listening, not just endless blastbeats and solos.

Is orgasmic to me

I notice I'm spending less and less time listening to new metal bands as well. But maybe I should try this a bit more because I've learnt to know some pretty great things that came out the last few years.

Summoning is working on a new album as well - finally. Will be six years now or something since their last album came out.

Both of those bands are brilliant, didn't take you for a metal fan PL.

I really enjoyed their latest album, even if it was just more of the same

I like all genres of Music, but I really enjoy following metal bands. Here is "My Happy Ending", version metal by Machine gun Smith. I think you will enjoy his twin-double pedals when you hear them:

This guy is a metal fan too.

I haven't checked out Carbon-Based Anatomy. Will do that now. I discovered them in my search for some new trash metal material. I started out in metal via the big 4 in thrash and it's a genre that I really like. Focus is a highly rated album so no wonder I came upon them. But I must say, I like Traced in Air more. Don't know why but I really love that album. Just something about it. I'm a sucker for bands that switch up clean vocals and growling.
Mercenary is a band that does that well and Killswitch Engage do it excellently as well as they've been blessed with two great vocalists. They're however more of a feel good band with a few great songs. I don't know many metalcore bands.

I'm currently going through my metal playlist in iTunes. Trying to listen to stuff that I've barely listened too. I've got a lot of cd's, both downloaded and purchased, that I simply haven't listened to yet.

That's brilliant  tbh she has always been a guilty pleasure too!

The best double kick I've heard is probably by the drummer hell hammer in dimmu borgir's 'a chosen legacy'. At about 3:40 it's too fast to comprehend.

If you like thrash metal then I recommend Vektor and Evile. Both are relatively new and excellent bands.

Who of you have heard of/like the Danish band Mercenary? They play melodic death metal with hints of thrash and power metal here and there. Wasn't so familiar with their history until recently despite having listened to them for years. First 5 albums are all consistent despite radical line-up changes through the years. I'll post one song from each album in a timely order.

Not as familiar with the first album as I started to listen to them via the 2nd album. The first, First Breath, is more brutal and doesn't have clean vocals or keyboards.

Title track of the 2nd album and introduction of one of the best clean/harsh vocal duet I've heard in metal

Opening of the 3rd album (11 Dreams), well, besides the intro. This album has more power metal influences and the songs vary more in style than on the previous albums.

4th album is The Hours that Remain and it's also my favorite album of theirs, Everblack is a close second. The vocals are simply great. The bands know it and utilize them a lot. Didn't want to choose the opening or title track this time for some variety. Here's the cracking opening of Year of the Plague.

5th album, Architecht of Lies. A very solid throughout. As per usual the first tracks steal the show a bit whilst the others song grow more on you each time. The main vocalist gives some of his best performances here.

Their latest album came out last year. Can't say I've listened to it that much and it's not as good for obvious reasons (new vocals, keyboards and drums :( ). Also the reason I didn't take the opportunity whilst in Denmark to try and see them live. It's a metalcore album really.
I'm basically picking a random song.
