The UEFA Euro Fantasy Draft

FECK OFF. FECK OFF. FECK OFF. You get the picture.

We are going to have to wait for Theon to come online as he hasn't beeon on since yesterday and I'm not the manager. Just discussing players with him.
boooo.. once again proving that having AM is absolutely useless

I'm just a guy he talks to about his team. Nothing more. If I had time, I'd play. I actually have argued a lot with him about his picks

More of a prick who is arguing with him than his AM.

You're just a pussay, NM.

That's good, that's exactly what @Theon needs :D

Netto AND Shesternyov? Ffs, guys, you can't even read about them, all information is on Russian

And here I was before the draft, thinking how to fit 3 Russians in one side

he let me down in the newbie draft :D
if he was at his best at tournament he would go in the first round im sure....

Well he was at his usual best. People are going to say he wasnt because he didnt go to Euro 92' when they won it.

In 84' he played all the games for the team that got beat on penalties in the semi's.
In 88' Denmark were disappointed but he stood out scroing against Spain.
In 96' he captained them and played all matches. They were unlucky to go out after drawing with Portugal and beating Turkey.

He was a great player in an average team.

Starting to get a bit interesting now - and will become increasingly interesting these next couple of rounds. Impossible to get a proper feel for any side yet, given it's just a load of legends so far.

Good call on structuring the thing this way, @Balu - I like it. Bit boring to begin with, everyone just getting their GOATs in - and then the proper challenge begins.

Oh, and grand move there with Big Doncwirk, @ctp - almost got away with it too.

@Theon are you going to pick soon since you're back, mate? Or I shouldn't wait?

Desailly. That's the one I mentioned earlier about best CB (and could be a DM) that's still left.

Great pick. For the 2 tournaments he was part of team of the tournament i'm pretty sure he played exclusively central defense. Beckenbauer would arguably be considered the best cd the EURO's has ever seen.

That's true.

Not sure if he can be a DM in this draft. Surely one of the best central defenders though, I'd say that he is better defensively than Beckenbauer and some others. Should've been picked sooner, imo.

You guys in the thread know the pick before me :(

I think you should have picked him. He would have freed up a German spot which gives you more options.
That's true. But it came down to the fact I rate Kohler higher as a centre-half and in 1992 he was at his absolute peak. Not that Desailly isn't a great pick, especially in the fourth round, and has two solid Euros to back it up.

Also with Kohler you can partner him with anyone and he makes them stronger whereas Desailly with a weak partner doesn't give off that same vibe of security at the back.

This does say he played in the DM position although it is Wiki.

EDIT: http://www.rsssf.com/tables/96e-f.html

A more reliable source on that match, under semi-finals it does place Desailly in the midfield. So Theon can use him there if he wishes but why would he with a great midfield in place already.
True but he was better at the other tournaments so if used as DM you'd have to base his "ability" based on EURO 96', right? But like you say, why would he :)
