The UEFA Euro Fantasy Draft

Are you going to sound out your disappointment every time a GOAT is taken?. Come on, there was no way Maldini and Matthäus were going to be available for your second pick which is 28 picks away from your first pick. You make is sound like you just missed them by one or two picks. If this is a ploy to annoy the draft master Balu, then by all means go for it, for the drama :p.

Annoying draft masters is a talent I keep developing recently  I'm more pissed on Maldini. He's been my first pick quite number of drafts. Would love to have had him if not for the 66 rule. Matthaus was more a reaction to crw who wanted him.

It's his performance that's being judged though, not his ability. That's if I understand it correctly.
Yes. It says so in big letters right at the top of the op:

All players shall be judged only on their performances at the tournaments, not on what they did throughout their career.

Well, Cristiano got picked already, why not Cryuff?

TBF Cristiano had a cracking Euro 2004.. and he was decent in Euro 2012. Much better than he has been in world cups. First round pick as a number 2.. not sure about that however.

Ronaldo had a good tournament in 2004 and was alright in 2008 and 2012. He wasn't a good pick at that stage, granted, but he is a much better choice than Cruyff.

Fair enough and I'll take your word for it. Tbh I'd rather people voice out their concerns about players positions etc in the main thread itself and get it sorted out instead of waiting for the matches to happen and then pinpointing them out which would be quite harsh imo, as the managers can't do anything about it. Btw I'm not a fan of that rule myself but do appreciate its purpose.

I think this kind of takes away the entire purpose of the matches, which are already more dull than the drafting, reinforcements and general discussion.

Plenty of match threads are already too deserted or a bit drained from previous discussions in the main thread. After all the entire point of the draft matches is to have one managers(and AM's) ideas and team up against another managers ideas and teams.

@PedroMendez
:(

I don't suppose that there was a chance for me to pick him up later though.

Cracking pick. Had he survived back to me (Hoping against hope), he would have been my next pick. Sorry Joga

But then, he played as Inside Forward for Spain at the Euro's not the midfield playmaker as at Inter. Just confusing you for the lols mate, as like Rijkaard he is good at both.

i was sure he was playing as a playmaker....even found some short footage against the soviets where he looked like he is playing in the middle...

edit: feck you :D

Just didn't want the match discussions to be derailed with the he can't play there, that isn't his role etc which he played in the Euro etc. Think they would make discussions even more tedious and further away from the informative and fun ones they were meant to be.

Hehe white text.

Spot on, he was more of a playmaker than he was an inside forward for Barca. Great pick btw.

Either way, I honestly wouldn't mind you using him as a creative inside forward of sorts in this draft as whilst he reinvented his game to become more of a cultured deeper playmaker at Inter and in the mid sixities, he was equally capable of great inside left play which were reminiscent of his Barca days. Contrary to popular belief, he didn't just morph into a ****, losing all his incisiveness and his penchant for mazy runs.

Some of the goals are fantastic with the 4th one being my personal favourite.

Yup. Think he won his Balon d'Or as Inside Forward too. Gives great flexibility in formations.

Unpicked players @Joga Bonito . Let him morph into wonderwoman for all I care, but not into an unpicked player ;)

It backfired in the WC draft. I remember team with Rijkard and Platini losing. Puskas is the only one who skated through.

Look, for example. The second team is a clear winner from a "scanvoter's" perspective (hence 7 votes :wenger:), yet I still won by a fair margin. The fact that Annah almost conceded the defeat before the starting whistle helped a little though. Don't underestimate the voters, really.
