The Trump Presidency - Part 2

So Trump is doing a minerals deal with Ukraine. Wouldn't that be amazing for the US and terrible for Europe and Ukraine. Well we still need to wait for the details but not looking great.

This is redcafe posters in a nut shell.

Make a statement about one thing or another being great or shit - then finish the sentence by saying we dont actually have any detail!!

Im exhausted.

I really did not imagine Trump giving Musk this level of access and control over his presidency. Some fools were even speculating how Musk may not even get some kind of access pass to White house.

Because it'll be a tax haven for them, and a de-regulated paradise. It'll be the ideal place for a wealthy person to get even wealthier (at the expense of ordinary folk, but since when has that stopped them).

There are plenty of de-regulated paradises where you don't need to pay 5 millions for starters and surely enough they will not have problems to do business with US precisely because of trump. Each their own, but a person that wants to pay less taxes don't think they considering to pay a "tax" of 5 millions right from the bat

In all fairness, it wasn't speculation as the White House released statements saying he would be given no official power in any decision making and also he wouldn't even be given an office in the White House, but one in the building over the road. Trump had also been all over the place with regards to Musk's role(s) in his administration too.

His role is still being kept deliberately vague since otherwise he would be deemed to require confirmation by the senate. Like the Govt lawyers did not even call him the official administrator of DOGE. Neither did he take seat with other cabinet folks.

But regardless he is wielding the most power in the Govt, after Trump.

If you want to park your money somewhere - then yes absolutely. But if you want to make a lot more money with the money you already have - few places to do it better than here. Especially with all the investment loopholes.

It’s going to be an absolute shit show the next couple of years and there’s going to be huge protests and favourability ratings by independent pollsters will be down in the dumps.

Republicans will comfortably increase their majority in both the house and senate.

Exactly. It’s quite something. With Musk now being World leader and owning Twitter (+Zuckerberg being the weasel he is), I can imagine every story posted on social media in a year’s time will be vetted by AI to suppress any real opposition.

I kind of also think that a real democratic election won’t even be allowed, but that may just be the conspiracy theorist in me.

My inner conspiracy theorist makes me think that Musk’s actual role in this shitshow is simply to act as court jester and attract attention while the people who are really pulling Trump’s strings get on with the job

For what it’s worth I predicted this in 2020.

I’ve done a fair bit of research on Facebook and co and the likes of Cambridge Analytica, Aggregate IQ ect for an ethics module at Uni and when I have a bit more time I’ll put some of it into digestible posts on here but my main take away from it was that all the tech companies are absolutely fine with breaking the law and committing unethical behaviour because the profits and benefits will always dwarf the punishments.

Facebook are going to be doing what CA and AIQ did for Trump in 2016 for all republicans but it’s kept in house this time and imbedded deeply in their black box algorithms. It’s a zero sum game for them because they can make sure their man wins and when he does they are completely shielded from the consequences of their actions.

When it comes to Trump, never say never. Everything is possible.

Now, can they stick together for long? I don’t know, but even few months of them at the helm could cause enough damage. A lot of it is already done.

Just a reminder:

If you look at it through the above prism, the chaos he unleashed right away really starting to makes sense.

Trump vows to slap 25% tariffs on EU and claims bloc was ‘formed to screw US’
Donald Trump has threatened to slap 25% tariffs on the European Union claiming the 27-country bloc was “formed to screw the United States”. The EU is the US’s third largest trading partner alongside China. Trump has said he will impose 25% tariffs on the US’s two largest trading partners, Canada and Mexico, next week.
According to Bloomberg, Trump’s tariffs could hit as much as $29.3bn (€28bn) of the bloc’s exports. The EU has pledged to retaliate immediately if the US imposes tariffs on its member countries’ exports. “The EU sees no justification for the imposition of tariffs on its exports. We will react to protect the interests of European businesses, workers and consumers from unjustified measures,” the bloc’s executive body said earlier this month.

No one will ever convince me that there isnt a Trump pee pee tape held in the vaults of the Kremin.

He has bowed down to Russia in a way that it very hard to explain. It has to be more than Putin just saying nice words about him.

Especially given that one would think he would want to distance himself from Russia after all of the election interference alligations and investigation post the 2016 election.

This is all going to implode eventually. Anyone with more than 3 brain cells can see that.
The problem will be that the average yank won’t realise who caused the problem due to the ridiculous spin on or downright misinformation about what is actually communicated.

Reddit post, so always doubt. However, a VA worker is suggesting there is an uptick in veterans blaming the staff for slower turnaround times (due to the DOGE cuts), but instead of sympathising, the vets are doubling down and saying even more cuts will get them healthcare faster.

He's been compromised and all those who didn't vote for him knew that a long time ago. All his voters yelling America didn't realize they voted for someone who is willing to sellout America for his own personal gains. How patriotic.

@Eboue surely this is a step too far? You can feel he wants to slaughter him but knows how popular he is.

Btw, the greatest hockey player I've ever seen. I know many say Lemieux, but for me, Steve was the best.

Justice doesn't exist, no wonder people want to see these people murdered in the street

Justice doesn't exist, no wonder people want to see these people murdered in the street

The ASMR deportation video and now the AI Trump Gaza clip have really taken things to the next level. The worst tendencies of mankind on full display and being celebrated instead of getting the disgust it deserves. I really hope the people directly effected manage to find some sort of peaceful way and not resort to the things you speak of. Like JFK said though “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."
