The Trump Presidency - Part 2

I‘m also in the US. You can buy food without crap in it. I read labels and avoid many things.

Processed food has stuff in it designed to repress your body signals telling you you ate enough, so you eat more.

There is more sugar in things, that‘s true.

Sweeteners aren‘t the answer either. They are toxic and mess up your metabolism.

It‘s best to skip sugar, substitute it with things like honey or maple syrup, or use very moderate amounts.

Lifestyle for me here is different than in Europe, with more driving and less opportunity for exercise.
I highly recommend the book Salt, Sugar, Fat for a fantastic overview on the science of keeping us obese and addicted to shit food.

Been flipping through youtube videos today on Trump's comments about taxation, tariffs and spending cuts. I don't know how many people are focusing on it, but he genuinely wants to do something crazy on taxation. He's riffing about tariffs replacing all taxation. He's talking about cuts in the 3-4 trillion range continuously. He's talking about this as seriously as the Greenland stuff. I don't know when he'll do it, and it could be nothing more than getting some congressional members to sacrifice themselves to the cult by introducing some crazy bill, but something is coming in relation to taxation that is going to just eat up the whole two years to the mid-terms.

The wealthy love the idea of no income tax and a huge sales tax, because the poor spend all their income each year, while the wealthy spend very little, percentage wise. It would be a gigantic tax break for the wealthy and a giant raise for everyone else. Tariffs add to that of course.

The idea is enough people are too dumb to realize all this, and it’s more popular than a gigantic income tax hike for everyone but the wealthy, and a huge cut for them.

That's the only reason why I'm actually for RFK, if he can hold off on the batshit reasoning of Vaccines (amongst other things) he does have very good thoughts on chemicals like red 40 that are prevalent in American foods, since I've lived here for the past 10 years I've got fatter (I'm now on Ozempic lolz so 170lb from 220) but specific eggs here make me itchy, I definitely can't eat any form of meat so I'm vegetarian which would be okay if they didn't spray chemical galores on thing so I have to be weirdly organic specifical on what I do buy - luckily I know a farmer who does his own crops

So basically if he actually does the things and takes on "Big Food" then this *could* be a good appointment, obviously being a Trump croonie it'll go tits up

how is Kennedy going to do change anything?

he's a brain-dead idiot who only got the position because of the Kennedy name and he won enough of the loony vote gave him leverage with Trump at the election. He has zero leverage left now so will get jettisoned at the first sign of trouble

He is batshit crazy. Hopefully most of it won't happen as he gets distracted by the next batshit crazy brain fart he has - and last time he was really really bad but nowhere near as bad as if he didn't have the attention span of a toddler on red cordial. The stressful bit is you never know what will and won't happen.

Hopefully sacked by mid-year assuming he gets in in the first place.

After being away for a while, I'm struggling to catch up with all the crazy stuff that he has already done. Its going to be a roller-coaster watching it all unfold.

The keeping us obese is true but imo secondary to just selling stuff with lots of sugar and salt etc because they are cheap ways to make rubbish tastier, which equated to a larger profit margin.

Trump Looks To Assign Blame For Midair Crash: ‘Why Didn’t the Control Tower Tell the Helicopter What to Do?’

The airplane was on a perfect and routine line of approach to the airport. The helicopter was going straight at the airplane for an extended period of time. It is a CLEAR NIGHT, the lights on the plane were blazing, why didn’t the helicopter go up or down, or turn. Why didn’t the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the plane. This is a bad situation that looks like it should have been prevented. NOT GOOD!!!

I just started reading this yesterday, which is along the same lines. 1 chapter in and I'm already grossed out by xantham gum.

So, how's the 'it can't be worse than Biden' crowd feeling?

That's an interesting poll, especially taking into consideration that Biden had the 3rd highest disapproval rating in between Trumps two terms.

It just shows how divided opinion is in the modern world, where moderate stances can't be taken and you've got to pin your colours to one flag or the other.

Biden started with a huge credit of confidence but it began to dwindle around the Afghanistan fiasco imo.

10 days in... ask them again in a year ;) It will get worse and worse.
Can't help but wonder what would've happened without the pandemic. It really put the breaks on both Trump and the Boris/Cummings desire to completely dismantle the civil service. It doesn't look like the institutions that held in the US last time round will make it this time, scary stuff.

He's such a rancid cnut of a man. Stoking panic, confusion and immediately looking to assign blame.

Just do what every regular, boring politician would do; release a statement mourning the loss of life and mention that the incident is being investigated.

It's all about him. It's always just been about him. The only positive from all this is that some Americans are not weak minded and didn't vote for him. There's still hope because some still see him for the monster he is. He's antagonizing so many countries with his immigration "reform". The backlash on Americans when they visit some of these countries will be an eye opener. The innocent will have to suffer the consequences of all his actions.

Besides the cruelty, I feel like the defining characteristic of this Trump administration will be the rank incompetence.

I believe he's seriously trying to be the anti-FDR. FDR set up social safety net programs that became embedded into the US government for almost a century despite the GOP hating them, they could never get rid of them.

Trump seems to be the culmination of the right's efforts for decades to change the fundamental nature of US government by choking them of any oxygen. Trying to get rid of millions of career civil servants to be replaced by political loyalists, all his mercantilist tariff and policies, that government efficiency smokescreen for cutting programs and benefits, it's all an attempt to make it impossible for the next milquetoast Democrat administration to undo these types of changes.

Absolutely, I saw a comment on r/Conservative that said "this is what happens when the adults are in the room, stuff gets done" and it took all my willpower to not reply with some along the lines of "so when are they arriving?"

He is describing the accident and looking for reasons at the junior-high level. Why is anyone surprised by this? I don't even think he's intending to blame ATC, it's more like your moron friend asking "why didnt he warn them?" before being told why not and nodding quietly.

behaving the way he is after a pretty horrific disaster, he is a fecking moron. and shame on all the ones around him enabling his childlish, batshit crazy nonsense.
All the UK politicians that want to bend the knee to him, should be made to at least acknowledge his bufoonery.

So early into his second presidency and already an event where he has to pretend to have empathy for people, I'll bet he's livid.
