The Trump Presidency - Part 2

Never say never when it comes to Trump.
With all what is happening around us, I'm baffled when people say that "that will not happen"

The world and specially the USA are changing at breakneck speed and I don't rule anything out anymore. Including the Republicans changing the constitution to their benefit.

Absolutely. These people are now in power, and they want to stay there no matter what it takes. With the possible exception of directly organizing violence (and do note, I am not ruling out subtle nods to the Proud Boys etc.), I don't think there is anything they won't do.

I think Trump would win at this stage. Michelle obama on the other hand @WI_Red

Agreed.

10 years ago no one (or not many) thought that someone like Trump could win the presidency of the United States. He did.

More recently, not many thought that a twice-impeached president could win again, especially after January 6. He did.

Some thought that a convicted felon won’t be elected. Well,…

I learned a simple lesson: with Trump, everything is possible. It’s just the reality.

I think that there is that faith in the system. A faith that the system will not let us down, that constitutional norms will hold, that the Supreme Court will be there if we need it. It’s based on two centuries of practice, and that was mostly true. I had that faith too.

But America post June 2015 is not the same place. I have no faith in Congress, nor in the highest court in the land. Not anymore. I can hope that they will do their job when the moment comes, but I no longer trust them to do it.

No one who watched the past 10 years should ignore or deny the possibility of Trump staying in power past January 2028 (if he’s healthy).

Why did americans fall for this again? It's 4 years since the last time ffs

Congratulations... you played yourselves....

And Pelosi

gerontocracy
Dianne Feinstein died in office at 90. Ruth Bader-Ginsburg died in office at 87. At least Pelosi seems relatively lucid, which is good I guess.

It's insane. Does this shit happen in any other Western democracy?

I don't know other countries but Spain, since Franco, the oldest PM at retirement was 62 years old and the others I don't think they reached 55 and usually the ministers are younger than the PM with exceptions. Average of congress is around 50 I believe. So is not that bad.

In US, the same generation had been ruling the last since 1993 and till 2028 with the exception of Obama that had Biden as VP

Bill Clinton is the youngest living President other than Obama. Obama is 63 years old and is older than an entire fecking island. There hasn’t even been a Generation X president yet, and the oldest of that generation are 61. The youngest are 44 or 45.

careful, you might be part of that shit-hole on a hill soon...... :(

Woah, I'd like to confidently say that it's never going to happen but sadly, you just can't rule anything out after Trump getting reelected, Brexit and the way the new US government and justice system are shaping up.

I am confident in saying that if it did happen, Dwazza would either go full Canadian Rambo and go down fighting. Or he would just move to another country. He'd be welcome here but our gun laws would be a deal breaker. I reckon he'd go for Guatemala or Switzerland.

Give the Doc a Culver’s franchise and he’ll swap the Leaf for the Stars in about 10 seconds.

I'm not so sure mate. Offer him the Freedom of Kellyanne Conway key and he might. Otherwise there's no way he's swapping Canadian bacon for the shite you lot dish up. Anyway, I'm just guessing, he can speak for himself, ay!

As a Dane, I’m not particularly freaked out, but I don’t doubt the politicians are. They are stuck in a 00’s mindset where we join their stupid wars to convince them we are good allies. Doesn’t work like anymore. Trump wants to use and dominate Europe, and they can’t get it through their skull. Start punching back or get walked all over.

Trump is just being a fecking bully and a cnut for the sake of it.

I'm no expert, so please someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but from what I have read, listened to and heard. The majority of the people of Greenland don't want to be under Danish rule, and they don't want to be Danish and certainly hold lots of animosity towards Denmark for their treatment over the years. They also don't want to be under US rule and definitely don't want to be Americans.

They want a referendum to be declared independent and want to be their own people. However, due to Denmark's control it's not as simple as just holding a referendum.

The Prime Minister of Greenland has however come out and stated all this on numerous occasions but what he also did say was he was absolutely open to discussions regarding to the sale of mineral rights, drilling and mining rights to the USA and IS companies as long as it ensured that they would receive a fair price and share of the profits and that it also included a promise of jobs for Greenlander's and not just give jobs to people coming in to the country.

He also said that the US once had 12 military bases around the island and thousands of US military personnel based there. Now there is only one operational base and only 200 US servicemen and women. He said he would happily discuss the prospect of once again allowing the US to have more bases and strategic defence positions allowing thousands of US military personnel to be based there again.

I honestly don't see what could be fairer than that? It's like the USA gets its cake and eats it. Gets all the natural resources and is allowed to become a large and important military region and the locals who actually fecking live there get to benefit as well as the possibility of having their own independence. All that could be gained through talks and cooperation. But no.... Trump and many Americans instead want to just fecking bully them and buy it or threaten to just take it (and them) by force and by doing so upsetting yet more countries and people around the world.

I fully understand it's not quite as simple as I've made it sound due to complexities between Denmark and Greenland etc but the interview I watched with the Greenland PM pretty much said they were open to discussions. A footnote also said though that there's no reason why z China or Russia or anywhere else couldn't try to negotiate the same.

But yet again instead of discussions we get the we can take what we want and have what we want attitude because we are the USA attitude and it really fecking pisses me off.

Full Greenlandic independence is a dream. They need some kind of financial, governmental/administrative support and defensive partnerships. Now if they want to declare independence from Denmark and become a US territory, that would be fine. I think it’s a mistake for the people, but if they vote for that, so be it.

What the Trump administration is doing I just disgusting though. Threatening with tariffs is one thing, but the stunt Don Jr. pulled was bordering on an act of aggression. They are low-lifes and need to be called out for it.

Amid a flurry of actions curtailing Biden’s environmental policies, the administration of newly inaugurated President Donald Trump this week withdrew a plan to set limits on toxic PFAS chemicals in industrial wastewater.

The draft rule, which the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sent to the White House for review in June, was seen as a precedent-setting move by reducing allowable discharges of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), a class of chemicals that have been linked to an array of health problems.

People are making jokes about red states being fecked without FEMA. They are thinking way too small. He doesn't want oversight of money. You get rid of FEMA and federal funds go to the states, but he will decide, or force congress to accept his strings, the amounts of money will increase for red states with no requirements, blue states will get barely anything and be forced into XYZ.

This is 4 years of favours, revenge and decimation of enemies.

Absolutely this. And this is the point people are missing and the point that is so fecking scary. Even worse is people are still spreading the liies and misinformation that Biden didn't help North Carolina so using that as a defence for Trump and a weapon to beat away accusations of him non funding the current crisis in LA with.

This is yet another huge issue that is going to come back and bite Dems on the ass.

Seems to be a common opinion. I really hope the penny drops before its too late.

80+ year olds holding onto "Regan republican" ideas are going to be eaten alive by this guy. AOC seems to the one of the only small handful that seem to get it.

Sorry, worded poorly, he's being a nasty vindictive cnut as revenge. The added cuntishness is just because he can.

But like a tumbleweed, he's on a fecking roll!

Doesn't seem to be much interest in those ice raids what do you guys think? Hearing about some of those people was frankly ridiculous, this one guy had previously been deported and had already been convicted for rape while holding a gun in this girls mouth and he was just let back out in to public because it was a sanctuary city.

I really wouldn't be surprised if it was this kind of shit that got him elected, illegal immigration is already seen in a bad light and these practices are essentially favoring that paradigm while corrupting public safety for what is ultimately an arbitrary moral reason.

Thom Tillis voted to confirm Hegseth after McConnell voted no.

Can somebody delete my Caf post history so I can run for Senate in NC?
