The Trump Presidency - Part 2

I just saw a podcast with Mel Gibson (Rogan). One of the only interesting podcasts I've seen in a while. Good pick (because Gibson, not for his anti-semite stuff which has gone away with his drunkenness largely resolved, has been somewhat of an outsider in Hollywood ever since he began self-funding stuff- by his own word). He's on the path to making the Resurrection of the Christ apparently. The man can direct great films.

CNN chief executive Mark Thompson reportedly suggested moving anchor Jim Acosta’s morning show to midnight as part of a planned shakeup at the network.

Former CNN senior media reporter Oliver Darcy reported in his Status newsletter on Thursday that Acosta “received a peculiar telephone call from CNN chief Mark Thompson” the night before.

One unnamed source told Darcy that the move may be part of an effort to appeal to President-elect Donald Trump,

“They want to get rid of Acosta to throw a bone to Trump,” the source claimed. “Midnight is not a serious offer when his ratings are among the best on the network.”

Pretty funny crypto gambling will seemingly be a key part of his administration. Wonder if it'll all crash and burn or not.

That's what usually happens eventually.

Yeah, that’s where he said that his friend had received a secret cure for cancer… ivermectin

Meh. I don't know about that. I never used it. But it was apparently patented for human anti-viral usage and the guy who invented it won a noble prize. Does it help with curing cancer? No idea. Not something that bothers me. People went mental about this stuff during Covid and I just ignored it because I knew the drug before that and it was crazy at both ends of the rhetorical spectrum.

It was a good podcast either way imo.

Was it?

I thought it was very good. I don't focus upon the vaccination stuff. More interested in his life story and future film plans (as well as stories about old films).

Who am I to say that he doesn't have friends who took these drugs and for whatever reason (perhaps placebo entirely) it worked for them. Just not something I'm that interested in.

You get guests on shows that have weird ideas about all kinds of things. If you can disagree with those ideas and are interested in the rest or some of it you might get something out of it. I did.

You apparently didn’t “know about it before that”. It was first developed in the 70’s for veterinary use and not cleared for humans til the late 80’s. Cleared for use in parasites.

I did but no point in being semantic about it.

The list of stuff used for veterinary which is also used (sometimes tweaked) for humans runs to the hundreds if not the thousands. I don't see the problem. I'm not defending any claims here nor do I particularly care about people who despise a drug or something.

Also, I said it was patented for use on humans, not that it began that way. If I did then I stand corrected.

Yeah stage 4 cancer has often been known to be cured by placebo effect

It may be the same effect as going to a holy shrine. Call it what you want, I'm not saying it works. Nor is that my takeaway from a two hour podcast.

Because I don't give a shit about the drug or the claim. I just understand the claim in relation to personal lived experiences which may not be exactly scientific. It's a tiny issue I don't get obsessed over.

As an anti-parasitic.
And, (this will be my last reply, nothing personal, I just know how these bandwagon things go - not directed at anyone just not replying to many), as an antiviral confirmed by various studies. I just had to look that up on scholarly sites to put this issue to bed. No idea how common its prescription as anti-viral is, but it has been investigated and has been prescribed that way in various parts of the world (nor do I say this is the consensus, etc.).

The Lancet on its anti-viral properties apropos Covid. A whole different political minefield.

Ahh ok you mean “complete bullshit”, why didn’t you say so?

Joe Rogan is such a fecking moron, it's literally hard to believe. He has a childlike understanding of things.
Yup. Very precise description. His brain works like a clever 13 year old edgelord kid who thinks he's smarter than everyone in the room.

If you have stage 4 cancer and go to a shrine or whatever and are cured (for whatever reason quite frankly) I wouldn't say that person would, usually, call it complete bullshit. Even if everyone else around them does. It's just an analogy. He might well know these people who had cancer drugs and also took whatever he said in that clip and were cured. I don't see a motive to lie. It's not unheard of to come back from stage 4 cancer but it is exceedingly rare statistically speaking. I wouldn't shit on anyone who did whatever their reasons. I'd suspend my own judgment out of respect.

The 'motive' is seeing conspiracies everywhere, and a desire to appear smarter than everyone else.

You first claimed it was patented as an anti-viral (it wasn’t), now you’re claiming it has been recently proven to have anti-viral uses (it hasn’t).

I don’t have a thing against ivermectin. I have a thing against people going on podcasts saying that ivermectin cured cancer, cures viruses, etc.

Mel’s episode with Joe is now going to lead to a bunch of gullible people going out and getting ivermectin thinking it’s going to cure their cancer, or a loved one’s cancer, for no fecking reason other than a brain rotted, has been, former movie star said so.

That's not what the placebo effect is or does, so the 2nd bold part is clear. The stuff he is spewing is dangerous and kills people.
