The Trump Presidency - Part 2

This is a good thing and it's something the Pentagon has been asking for and it's why the multi-year guaranteed buys have become a thing since FY23.

seems to me it's one step closet to skynet being under pentagon control or under musk/thiel control or under it's own control, and i guess for people who like the pentagon and musk/thiel, that's a good thing!

I have no idea of what you're referring to. This is a procurement efficiency issue.

apparently he is after buying Greenland.
A poll conducted two years later also suggested that 69 per cent of Greenlanders supported closer cooperation with the US. That same poll also revealed that 68 per cent of people were in support of greater cooperation with Denmark.

Charters Cities Institute states that given the public's support for independence, it is unlikely that Greenlanders would support America purchasing the island.

However, the organization suggested that a significant payout that put money in the pockets of each citizen 'might change some minds'.

Analysts, proposing a hypothetical offer, suggested a $500billion purchase split evenly amongst all Greenlanders - which would provide each citizen with a roughly $8.7million check - might be enough to sweeten the deal.

Fair take, but Biden’s more like the first actual puppet—everyone else was just a politician with bad PR
Biden has accomplished far more than any other president since Roosevelt. Silly to call Biden a puppet.

Great idea, let's wind up the Country that owns and controls one of the busiest and most important shipping lanes in the world and proclaim it as 'ours'

If he continues this is one fight he didn't need to start and one that could make him look extremely stupid. It could possibly have huge financial implications for US citizens and businesses too.

He's just out to bully everyone and show how big and strong he is. fecking pathetic, and theres just no need for it at all.

What would actually happen if he goes there and takes it?

I think nothing...

Well that's a different story. I was thinking more along the lines of him being a prick and imposing sanctions on Panama or extra tarrifs on Panamanian goods etc... If he went that route it would backfire seriously on the US consumers. But you're right, he probably could just go and take it without much resistance or reprisal, but surely that wouldn't go down well on the world stage?

Would it force Panama to reopen its relationship with China? Feck knows, just seems so utterly pointless and is extremely hypocritical when the US was so against Russia retaking Crimea and invading Ukraine. It's far from the same scenario, but the optics are the same.

I do wonder how he would plan to "take" the canal... Naval blockade? Send in Marine raiders? Send in JSOC operators?

It would be interesting to see how his simpleton mindset works in such scenario. And knowing JCS/CJCS and the political apparatus would be telling him this is fecking dumb and suicidal geopolitically. But he can't handle another leader standing up to him because in his mind his dick size just got called out in public.

Biden has accomplished far more than any other president since Roosevelt. Silly to call Biden a puppet.

Seriously? Claiming Biden has accomplished more than any president since Roosevelt is a joke. Even his own staff spent his entire term managing around his cognitive decline. The Wall Street Journal laid it all out—meetings kept short, advisers doing the heavy lifting, and every public appearance micromanaged to avoid embarrassing gaffes.

During big moments like the Afghanistan withdrawal, even top Democrats couldn’t get through to him. Instead, decisions were filtered through handlers while Biden stayed insulated from bad news, tough questions, or even accurate polling data. And let’s not forget that disastrous debate where he could barely string a sentence together, forcing his own party to replace him.

If that’s not the definition of a 'puppet presidency,' I don’t know what is. Whatever 'accomplishments' he has, it’s clear someone else was pulling the strings.

It’s really concerning that he thinks he can just trample on another country’s sovereignty and do whatever he wants. Usually, U.S. presidents at least go through the motions—letting the three letter agencies handle the dirty work behind the scenes.

But Trump? He doesn’t even bother with the 'proper' regime change playbook. It’s reckless, brazen, and completely unfiltered. Fooking hell!

President-elect Donald Trump said he would rename North America's tallest mountain, reversing a change made by former President Obama while he was in office. Speaking at a conservative TurningPoints USA conference in Phoenix, the 78-year-old said he would rename Alaska's Mount Denali to Mount McKinley after the 25th president.

The next 4 years are going to be a shit show for US politics

Is there a problem with that?

In my country whenever a leader comes in they name the hospitals, cities, all social schemes after their or their kids names. So I am surprised Trump hasn't named it Mount Ivanka.

Doesn't want a reminder that these days he's unable to mount Ivanka, even with the help of a few little blue friends.

bla bla bla

The list of accomplishments is impressive, with many records broken. He‘s an old man and somehow accomplished more than anyone else since Roosevelt.

And he did that while having rabid opposition from the Republicans.

But “inflation”…
Sadly people vote out of short term self interest. Offer (even if it’s a lie) Americans a 50% price cut with the trade off being ruined international relations, the majority would go for it. Plus it’s not like either side has been doing itself favors on the international stage

Can’t believe the dems didn’t have a better plan going into this election… this should have been a slam dunk

But “inflation”…
“But her emails..” was an appropriate way to mock.

Using inflation in the same sense, I’m not so sure. We all now know that inflation was real. Dems had no clear counter to any of the populist statements Trump made. The voters voted against the existing government and to punish the party in power, which given the way American politics is set up, only meant Donald Trump could be president again.

This is one of the most bizarre takes on Biden I've seen in a while:

It's so bizarre that you've got me agreeing with Sudesi on certain things which is no small achievement.

I live in the US, what is bizarre is he got so little credit for it. The media hasn‘t touted economic accomplishments and helped elect Trump.

Where Biden disappointed me is his support for Israel no matter what.
