Wakefield did that all on his own in the late 90's with, his now withdrawn, article in The LancetThe lawyer who paid Wakefield to come up with the hoax is still a lawyer. He never faced disciplinary processes.
Which was paid for by Richard Barr, who recruited Wakefield to write that article so he could present it as 'evidence' in a lawsuit against the vaccine manufacturers. He got over 450k of legal aid, taxpayers money, as a start.Wakefield did that all on his own in the late 90's with, his now withdrawn, article in The Lancet
No doubt that Barr encouraged him, but he'd already started his 'research' before he ever met him, he was ex[ecting to make $43 million from his 'new single vaccine'Which was paid for by Richard Barr, who recruited Wakefield to write that article so he could present it as 'evidence' in a lawsuit against the vaccine manufacturers. Good people on both sides.I just know that the right wing will say that these people are Antifa.
One of the cruel ironies is the oxygen Private Eye - of all organs, gave to this now international inferno, when it was mere kindling. The lawyer who paid Wakefield to come up with the hoax is still a lawyer. He never faced disciplinary processes.
Beef tallow FTW.
I really hope people selling goods don't incorporate tariff increases on the base product prices but instead add a labeled "Trump Tariff Fee" line to products to show where the price increase is coming from (kind of like we do for sales tax). Trump had no problem adding his name to stimulus checks so this should be fine as well.
That's a very cool claim to fame if I'm honestNo doubt that Barr encouraged him, but he'd already started his 'research' before he ever met him, he was ex[ecting to make $43 million from his 'new single vaccine'
Richard Horton, Lancet EiC held a meeting with the entire Lancet staff in 2010 and explained what had happened, I worked there then, can't remember all the details though I did publish the actual retraction notice on the website
Democrats think the average person is smarter than they are.I don't understand why the Dems didn't just call it import tax from the get go and say Trump is planning to increase it. Even idiots know what tax is. The richest man in the world aka the new da Vinci doesn't even know what a tariff is apparently.
I worked on The Lancet directly for more than a decade, they have a pretty impressive history, it's been published weekly since 1823 and has never ever missed an issue, the EiC would be a CAF favourite, he's definitely on the left side of politics, he's caused a few of us a lot of work over the years with his statements, especially in regard to Palestinian matters, Borsi and Trump, I still work for the same parent company just on a different group of medical journals nowThat's a very cool claim to fame if I'm honest
They did do that. The called it the "Trump sales tax"... it didn't matter.I don't understand why the Dems didn't just call it import tax from the get go and say Trump is planning to increase it. Trump's most important cabinet nomination is the Treasury Secretary. Our reserve currency is on the line, and regardless of who gets the nod, President Trump will need a brilliant person to execute his policy vision given the complexity of our current debt situation ($36T and rising).
The stakes are pretty simple: the next Treasury Secretary's main job will be selling bonds. It might sound simple, but managing the debt smoothly - without spiking interest rates or causing market chaos - is crucial. How well they handle this will determine if the Trump team manages a soft landing or stumbles into a debt and currency crisis that derails its momentum and long-term economic goals. Right now, under Janet Yellen, we’re piling up short-term, high-interest debt to fund record spending. The spike in 10-year Treasury rates this fall shows that our bond issuances are overwhelming global demand. Restoring confidence in our creditworthiness requires serious spending reform. If demand stays weak, we’ll end up “monetizing” the debt with Fed bond purchases (QE), which would reignite inflation.
For months, markets anticipated Scott Bessent's nomination as Treasury Secretary, with Polymarket giving him a 90% chance earlier last week. Bessent, former Chief Investment Officer of Soros' Quantum Fund and a colleague of Stan Druckenmiller, is seen as a seasoned and steady choice. Now Howard Lutnick is trying to "Cheney" his way in, lobbying Trump, Don Jr., Elon, RFK Jr., and everyone at Mar-a-Lago, and it seems that he is now in the driving seat. NYT reported last night that Trump's annoyed with Lutnick and has asked to expand the number of options by interviewing Kevin Warsh and Marc Rowan.
Trump has totally botched his cabinet picks so far—if he screws this one up, his agenda is dead on arrival.
If he's a Soros guy then count me in.
For context - he heft his post as George Soros’ Chief Investment Officer a decade ago, in part over political differences. He backed Trump’s 2016 campaign, and was the top fundraiser for Trump early this year before Elon and the technobros piled on.
He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Each Department which will be led by a Trump appointed secretary will manage their own portfolios. Elon and Vivek will probably be given fake jobs until Trump gets bored of them. Vivek almost certainly wont have the power to do what he’s saying.
If this tweet is correct, DOGE is DOA.
Most of the federal government (about 80%) is tied to defense, national security, and law enforcement.
With Trump and the GOP pushing for a stronger military and stricter border policies, those areas are more likely to grow, not shrink.
So, since most of the government is off-limits for cuts, initiatives like DOGE won’t do much for overall efficiency.
Elon + Vivek = Harold + Kumar
It's a glorified 'consulting' gig anyways....

There is something wrong with the graph, quickly scanning it, there are 2M people there, but there are over 3 million people working for the federal government.
A thawing of the Cold War
Trump and co are clearly on a bit of a charm offensive before the term to make it easier for people to swallow the madness that is already happening. Watch it all go by the way side not long after he is sworn in.These people are so pathetic Didn’t Trump tweet something utterly disgusting about this woman?

US President Donald Trump has launched an extraordinary attack on a female news anchor's alleged plastic surgery.
He said MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski was "bleeding badly from a face-lift" during a visit to his Florida golf resort Mar-a-Lago.
In a Twitter salvo, Mr Trump also assailed Brzezinski's MSNBC co-presenter Joe Scarborough.
They are both his occasional sparring partners and she this week accused him of developing a "dictatorship".
"I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don't watch anymore)," Mr Trump tweeted on Thursday morning.
He also accused "low I.Q. Crazy Mika" and "Psycho Joe" of "insisting on joining me" at Mar-a-Lago over three days at New Year's Eve.
"She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!" he added
