The Trump Presidency - Part 2

Mexico to hit back with tariffs on Sunday. And announcing it at a public event in Mexico City's central square (el Zocalo for those of you who've been there).

Sounds a bit short sighted to me. MAGA hats will not like tens thousands of what they consider "the help" saying nasty things about their Beloved Leader in a huge public gathering.

I'm about to pull the trigger but hoping for some bounce back in the upcoming days. It's looking desperate though.
cnut has now cost me money. The index is dropping at an increased pace now especially over the last few days.

"Illegal protests"? How is that defined in Trumpistan? Protests against him = illegal?
Think he's aiming it at pro-Palestine protests, not that it makes what he says any less dictatorial, they bang on about free speech but are the first to try and censor things that go against their line of thinking.

I was up significantly since I started buying iShares S&P500 ETF last year, it all evaporated in the last two weeks.

Americans can put up with racism. Americans can overlook treason. Americans can turn a blind eye to bullying victims of Russian imperialist aggression.

What Americans cannot and will not stand for is their stock portfolio turning red.

Well, we've seen how thin skinned they (MAGA, Trump and his cronies) are. Mexico just has so much exposure to the USA compared to anyone else, even Canada which is self sufficient in energy.

I completely understand her anger and frustration, but just introduce the countersanctions at your average run of the mill press conference with a boring economy minister instead of a public assembly. When Trump feels it got personal, he'll keep going and do worse.

I can assure you that millions and millions of trumpers do not have stock portfolios

Again, there will be millions who don't even have one.

And? What is your point?

Over half of working Americans do have a 401k and that half is not just those who are already anti Trump.

And as we know, he and the GOP only need to lose a small % of those people to lose in the midterms and the presidency in 2028.

His actions thus far have been nothing but inflationary, so whether you have a 401k or not, people that voted for Trump because they thought he would lower prices and not seeing it.

the only thing i liked about trump was the impact he had on my pension and stocks and shares isa. the useless prick couldn’t even keep that going for long.

Is having another tiny majority that requires some next iteration of Manchin/Sinema to even produce any legislature satisfactory, while Republicans hack away at all the institutions and do most meaningful changes through courts?

That assumes fair elections.

Have they fired the people responsible for overseeing yet?

Its gonna be "fun" if dems have 50 senators in 2028, Fetterman would have a field day.

buy the dip, short the vix, and feck bitcoin. a friend of mine who works in the investment banking industry told me this. I know it sounds basic but actually following this philosophy has done wonders for me. thank you, gus. you sexy basterd.

I guess we'll see if economic theory on tariffs holds.

What do you mean by this? This isn't something that only exists in theory. We can look at historical examples of mercantilist policies and how that affected the nations that implemented them (hint: it didn't lead to economic growth).

I'm no expert, but I don't think jumping in and out of those kind of EFTs based on micro changes is really the way to do it?

So, when Trump, at some point, calls of the trade war, will he again be given credit for ending a crisis he created?

Expectations for this man are so low....
