I knew a guy reminds me a bit of Trump. He had a terrible time in school and was kicked out early. I think he might have been abused. He was an alpha male type character. In school (before he was expelled) he had gangs following him. He always impressed outsiders; they became his devoted bully boys.

He was possessed of extraordinary cunning. People in authority always underestimated him. In a social setting he was thoughtful and very funny and entertaining. He was a talented individual that didn’t fit the system- the opposite to the charmless leaders and teachers most of us knew.

But at a deeper level it was all about power for him or his lack of it. He was a bully. He played the victim when it suited him. He put himself and others in dangerous situations. He spent an awful lot of his time plotting and planning against perceived enemies. One given with him: what others built up, he wanted to tear down. Even his own initiatives, he always undermined them in the end. Self-destructive, addictive, morose. His ending was dark.

Sounds like a very narrow, inward view of life, if they succeed. Won't they end up replacing anxiety with cnuntiness and bitterness?

I think there are very few things any of us can control, but we fret about all sorts of stuff because of our humanity, empathy, etc.

I've no idea where the cnutishness and bitterness comes into it.

Once you are happy and content you are better placed to display empathy, compassion and to help others.

You can't do much of that if you're a ball of anxiety, constantly worrying about what-ifs. As I said, this is advice for people who are struggling to cope with stress/anxiety.

You don't necessarily get bitter or cnutish by focusing on the flowers growing in your window sill. Focusing on factors in your life within your reach is adamant to any success. What size of reach you're able to deal with while keeping your sanity, now that is extremely variable. To get anywhere, those who've gotten off their track need to train and experience some resemblance of success. Step by step goes a long way...

I admit I didn't read the whole article @utdalltheway linked as I gave up after a few paragraphs, so I don't know if it referred to treating anxiety, which I also haven't a clue about. I assumed it was self-help for any mundane worries. I have read it now, and some bits I agree with.

If this were the blurb on the back of a book, I'd buy it.

I’m hooked! So don’t leave us hanging, what happened to the cnut?

All said and done. Most people would want to trade their live with trump.

Never had a day of having no money.

And at 70 becomes POTUS

Love him or hate him that's one hell of a life compared to most 9-5 joes

If the stories about him shitting himself and wearing diapers for the last 20-30 years because of drug abuse is true I think I'd have second thoughts.

Most people born with a conscience would struggle to go to sleep with half the despicable shit he had done in his life.

Massively indebted
Married to a woman who hates him
Infamous
At 70 became arguably the worst president of all time

If fame is something really important to someone then they probably would trade, I think most others would probably be happy with a life surrounded by family and friends who love them and living in relative obscurity.

Yes, a black man reaching unprecedented levels of unanimous praise worldwide had to be brought down. So they bought into the birther thing and all the other crap Trump et al were conjuring.

Obama had his flaws just like any candidate, and his ling term solutions to the misery of America's poor were easy targets for false promises of immediate "greatification" and cheap socialism-bashing of Obama policies.

Sadly, the have not's killed their own chance to get something. But hey, at least they got to replace a melanin rich president with one sprinkled with Cheeto-coating!
Obama bombed many weddings and innocent people with drones. That can hardly be called just a flaw.
Trump would have done the same but Trump doesn't care about anyone. Obama pretended to care.

Genuinely would rather be remembered for being a good guy to those who know me. Honest to heart

Yes he’s a picture of health and happiness. A true example of a fantastic life that all of us can but aspire to.

Reads like a prologue. I read a second time in Morgan Freeman voice-over.

The fact that people think like that is everything is wrong with the world.

A desire to be famous above all else, even if it meant being an orange beanbag full of rice pudding with the IQ of a gnat.

We've been on the run
Driving in the sun
Looking out for number one
California here we come
Right back where we started from

Hustlers grab your guns
Your shadow weighs a ton
Driving down the 101
California here we come
Right back where we started from

California!
Here we come!

Hmm. We might be looking at a significantly delayed Impeachment trial.

Don't know if that's a good thing if Trump can somehow weasel him way back into the good graces of the R Senators, or if this allows for more clear/documented evidence to be gathered of Trump being responsible for the Insurrection.

The process is a several month process no matter who is in charge or the surrounding circumstances. Whatever keeps Trump from getting his pension, his travel budget (read that it’s a million / year til his death), his SS protection, & his ability to run in any further federal elections, as well as most closely ensuring a victory in the Senate, is the correct path.

Plus he's supposed to be a billionaire who can afford a million a year in travel in his tawdry 727, his own security people etc. I can see some support for this among Republicans in the Senate since a number of them want to run in 24 and would love to see him out of the way.
