If I were an American, I'd be scared. Raffensperger refused to steal the election for Trump, when asked personally, and no doubt many others have as well. But he's not a Trumpian Republican. We've already seen how many state representatives and even members of Congress who are willing to question the legality of the election, and there's a new crop of GOP politicians and functionaries coming up who are more like those than Raffensperger. That this has failed - is failing - isn't proof that America's democracy is strong. If anything it's proof that it's weak, because of
how it failed. Admittedly it would still have to pass courts, but you've got federal judges out there who are Trumpian too, and if it comes to that the Supreme Court has
no capability to enforce a ruling anyway.
A coup in the US isn't going to come by tanks in the streets of DC. It's going to come by the gradual erosion of Democratic norms, and that's already well underway. Not enough for Trump to steal this election, but you've got to wonder what things are like in 8 or 12 years. I'm not as optimistic as for example
