I don't think such protection exist, nobody is exempt from lawsuit no matter what they made you sign in the first place.

Plus you can't make anyone going into your hospital signs "I won't sue if shit happens because you're being managed by private ryan and not a doctor"
They are putting in place legislation to protect employers if an employee gets covid i think (republican condition to allow extra covid relief funding)

He may have some degree of residual support if the likes of Hannity continue to support him, but if the election unfolds as it appears it may, the GOP will in four years have gone from control of the WH and both houses of Congress to having squandered it all back to the Dems. If Trump loses, his cult status will be severely undermined among a lot of traditional Republicans and the party will be forced to move on with out him, especially if he gets into legal trouble after no longer having the Presidency to shield him from his corruption.

The last time they surrendered the presidency and legislative branches to Democrats, it birthed the tea party movement. The next time they surrendered the presidency in 2012, Ryan and Preibus drew up prospectus at the GOP convention to diversify the outreach to college educated, high earning, socially liberal yet fiscally conservative minorities and it all ended with the party embracing Trump.

You're being a bit generous when there really isn't a place for them to pivot than going back to their core and stop shouting the silent stuff loudly or exposing their corruption so brazenly as they are doing under Trump's protection.

That's a good point, but I somehow don't see there being enough support for another Tea Party movement or a perfect storm of events that gave rise to Trumpism. Enough people have left the party over the past four years (GOP base is now something like 28% from 33% pre-Trump), to where the party will need to moderate away from cultish demagoguery to be a player during future elections. In many ways, the rise and fall of Trump is a necessary step to permanently banish far right politics away from the political mainstream.

If that happens, the margins between the two parties could become even slimmer unless it forces the Democrats to embrace a further leftward shift. I keep imagining the GOP progressing enough to embrace a fiscally lean conservative ideology paired with a hardline interpretation of the constitution while shedding the racism, religion and corruption, the make up of the current supreme court is a firm chance for it.

You're forgetting one thing.

Biden (if he wins) will inherit a messy divided America, a pandemic torn country which by then would be too widespread, a tanking economic, the trade war, Russia, an alienated Europe, a pissed off world. On top of that he'll still have to deal with the 32% something of Trump supporter that exists in the government, senate, and house. Even if they're majority you really can't outright instruct them GOP senators to do as they wish.

All the GOP needs to do is point the finger at Biden not delivering and the gullible Americans will be back to voting Republican

I for one don't think blame the Democrat president is going to work out well as a strategy for the GOP when it is an old white dude.

Doesn't matter, he's from the enemy party.

I agree that I don't necessarily see hardline conservative populism disappear after Trump. It won't be as batshit crazy, but dominant right-wing media anyway push a lot of the same hardcore narratives that Trumpists like, and a lot of what was once Tea Party extremism has now become pretty mainstream on the right. I don't see them quickly swivelling back to a more reasonable conservatism.

Also, the GOP already concluded after recent elections that they need to change course and start appealing to Hispanic and black voters to stand a chance in the future, and instead their voters went against their establishment, got Trump in, and won the election with a full majority (I mean House, Senate, presidency). So the GOP won't necessarily think a change of course is required; they might just go looking for a Trump without the obvious narcissism and more general unpredictability and idiocy.

That's such a Russian bot thing to say
but but but she sarcastically clapped Trump that one time, and that one time President Pelosi trended on Twitter
#resist

Most people that are Anti-Trump should also be Anti-Pelosi. She’s also a ghoul. She just plays politics better.

The strategy he as now, is clearly not working. Maybe he will need to bite the bullet and act like a traditional politician.

Even if Trump leaves, I can't see Trumpism fully collapsing when he still enjoys a comfortably solid support in the GOP.

The scandals and people caught up in them might suffer the most but these kinds of hardline right wing people are still going to maintain a strong foothold in the party.

For all his ideological faults, Cotton is scandal free and he didn't exactly wedge his tongue up Trump's crack like Graham so he is less tainted. His brand of hardline conservative ideology will still thrive as long as there is a cold war with China, which is very much likely to dictate American political discourse even under a Biden presidency.
He sent a letter to the Iranians telling them the deal they made with the Obama administration would not be honored the moment he was out of office. If this guy got a chunk of power he would happily run a shadow government and wouldn't give a feck.

It work against Clinton , doesn't even take much more than a harmless email and lockerup chant
The Clinton's had a whole right wing multi million dollar industry set up against them for the last 30 years and we had a black man with a foreign Muslim name. Easy pickings for the idiots. Biden not so much. He's a dizzy cnut but the other is a malicious dizzy cnut. It's an easy way out for them that they don't deserve.

The sooner her and Schumer are benched the better. Mid terms are just as important and both of them need to step aside and let someone with a pulse fight the good fight. But if they win the Senate and all those house bills sitting there get voted on and passed then I don't see the Democrats telling either of them to step aside.

Trump is addicted to Twitter like he is to fast food. He just can't help himself.

It's not the first time he's said he'll give Twitter a rest. Think he mentioned this as he took up the Presidency but look how that went.

Trump says he hasn’t seen his recently Covid diagnosed National Security Advisor lately. And doesn’t seem to see why this is a problem..

Even if those numbers are accurate, they'd be for the general population rather than the voting population. Unfortunately, the GOP can probably sustain that drop without much loss in election possibilities with the arcane electoral college/senate plus voter suppression and special interest money shifting the undecideds.

Yes. It's probably all he as left. Not going to work, but you know how MSM falls for this kind of thing.

It's not going to happen. Donald Trump simply doesn't have it in him to be "Presidential" for more than a day or two. He's also incredibly thin-skinned, so it's a guarantee that at some point someone will say something about him, and he'll be literally unable to stop himself from responding.

Watching them try to process the fact a white person was holding the sign. It was like they had been betrayed

Sad indication of that area though

Apparently he made up the Yankees first pitch invite and then declined it himself all because Fauci got invited to throw the first pitch at the Nationals game. I've seen 8 year olds with better coping mechanisms.
