He basically bitch slapped the corporate press.

Some of you talk about the mainstream media as if it's the evil part of some otherwise altruistic entity (alternate media can be just as problematic).... Media can and has been laden with agendas and propaganda for a long fcuking time, it's not a recent occurrence. This rush to blame everything on them when the only things that have changed are the public's outlook and the Republican candidate -soon to be president- smacks of misdirection.
I've always been critical of the media and tbh you should always be critical of the stories your fed. Whether they align with your opinions or not. But let's not let the politicians, corporations, and the real agenda setters of the hook.

Well, exactly. Ultimately, they are the eyes and voice of everyone this wanker will soon be taking charge of. The American public. The people who don't get a chance to interact with him directly and rely on the media to question him on their behalf. The disrespect he shows the media is direct disrespect for the electorate. The corporations Own the media. The politicians are picked by these corporations. In the case of Trump, the corporate media inadvertently picked someone their masters did not want by following the simple business policy of going for ratings.

No one is blaming EVERYTHING on the media.
But, there can be no doubt, Trump got more than a helping hand from the media (that they got brilliant ratings by doing it of course meant, they continued to do so....). I'm not saying there was an ulterior motive - but they created this monster. They let him off the hook time and time again. He actually got away without releasing his tax returns. 1st president in decades. Channels on a daily basis had Trump call in for a segment - this happened with what other candidate?
They gave him a pass with the Russian stuff (Paul Manafort and co) and not to mention the zillion and one conflicts of interest issues. He brushed them aside and they let it go....So, I have zero sympathy for them when President Elect Trump gives them the middle finger and they scream about 'decency', 'decorum', 'right' etc etc

That press conference was fairly alarming. He'd become a tyrant given less than half a chance.

Bingo, mainstream media is an abstract term since it differs from person to person, people pick and choose which bits of news to accept and from which sources... If you choose to believe unsubstantiated news then you have no-one to blame but yourself, whatever the source.
I'd like them to be more accountable but come on, that ship sailed years ago. Treat all news with the same level of scepticism until you are satisfactorily convinced of is authenticity.
