Do you think this is the first time the USA do so? In 1991 the USA allowed Saddam helicopters to fly directly after the Safwan tent agreement to eradicate the Iraqi revolution against Saddam. Only hours after operation desert storm ended. Even after the late ISIS takeover of Northern and west Iraq, the left the Iraqi army with no airpower and withheld 20 f16 fighters for many years that the iraqies desperatly needed despite them already paying for them, which led to the iraqies going to Russia and urgently buying Russian fighters to fight ISIS back. It is not a specific Trump thing, it is more a US thing. They sure made it known now that being an ally of America, in this case against ISIS, doesn’t really matter to Americans in the long term.
Countries in the future will think twice before joining up with them in a conflict considering how Trump just threw the Kurds under the bus.
I wouldn't count on that. Especially not without any sort of charismatic leader of their own.Pence featuring as the functioning adult more and more prominently these days, feels like the Christian Right is heading towards ending their devils bargain with Trump.
Every time you think he's peaked, he proves you wrong. You just know his end game was to get a photo with both sets of parents and then tell the world how he reconciled four good people.
I wouldn't count on that. Especially not without any sort of charismatic leader of their own.
Apologies, I thought you were taking a different argument!?
I thought it was quite self explanatory, i was arguing the US being there wasn't as critical as he was making out.
It's like if Hitler said he's saving all the Jews by not gunning them down in the streets and instead moving them to a camp.
No worries!Apologies, I thought you were taking a different argument!
Oh please, stop this nonsense. It's actually quite disrespectful to those who perished in the Holocaust.
Oh really? Because the people who actually survived the Holocaust have some pretty strong feelings about standing by while innocent people get slaughtered by states because of their ethnicity.
When they say ‘never forget’ that’s supposed to be in order to ensure it never happens again, not just out of respect for the Jewish dead.
When Turkey invaded they were pulling innocent people out of cars and summarily executing them in the street. That’s EXACTLY the kind of sick shit that we’re supposed to stand up against if we want to show respect for the Holocaust dead.
You really haven't a fecking clue do youOh please, stop this nonsense. It's actually quite disrespectful to those who perished in the Holocaust.
By any chance, do you really know the demographics of the area? You really haven't a fecking clue do you
Maybe. But definitely more than you atleast, some of the things you have said over the last few pages are frankly quite ridiculous. You really haven't a fecking clue do you
Isn't "-istan" a Farsi term though? How can anyone support the kurds? 80% of the territory they occupy is predominantly Arab Syrians, but hey let's not let the facts stand in the way of sympathising with the poor Kurds, I'm sure the west would hate the idea of a new Israel in the area. Actually there's like 2 million Arabs in the US, why don't they give us the territory and we call it Arabstan? Oh it's different because US is your country and you actually care?
By any chance, do you really know the demographics of the area?
As far as I was aware the bulk of Kurds have historically lived along the northern border and made up more than half of the locals there. I know that they've struck out at surrounding areas, using the fight against IS as a justification for linking regions and now control a greater number of non-kurdish provinces going down towards the Euphrates, but it's precisely the northern regions (where they form a majority) that Turkey wants them removed from.
Is that understanding incorrect?
Well first of all, the kurds overtook areas way deep into Syria and made sure to take over Der Ezzour which is an all arabs area because it's rich in oil, and that's probably why the US started supporting them in the first place, second of all they make a good portion of the border but definitely less than 50% and it's more like north eastern. As far as I was aware the bulk of Kurds have historically lived along the northern border and made up more than half of the locals there. Of course you think desert, you're an American after all when you think desert think more gulf Arabs rather than Sham arabs.Isn't "-istan" a Farsi term though?
Anyway, I think it'll be great as we have plenty of desert land over here so it'll be just like over there. You guys can have a piece of Arizona for yourselves.
Just trying to think of wide open space where no one will bother yall. But since you drive a hard bargain, you can have part of Oklahoma.Well first of all, the kurds overtook areas way deep into Syria and made sure to take over Der Ezzour which is an all arabs area because it's rich in oil, and that's probably why the US started supporting them in the first place, second of all they make a good portion of the border but definitely less than 50% and it's more like north eastern.

What does Syria have to do with that? Maybe they should not invade territory that not theirs then?Anfal, Halabja, etc.
I’ll allow it. Just help turn Texas blue. Oh and get a couple of guns while you’re out there in case any crazies feel like acting out a manifesto.I want the oil rich part of texas, just like the kurds want the oil rich part of syria that they have no right to.

Shame billy big boy Mattis didn't speak up during his time being employed in the Govt, it's all well and good jabbing Trump and stooping to his level (which i guess, at this point anything goes in the new West Wing Series) but not saying anything and toeing the party line sucking his toes just shows what kind of a guy he is.
Oh wow, its confirmed he said that?
