The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

This forum is so leftsided in the old days we actually had debates and had several conservative and liberal posters now it's all about trashing trump and the USA.

I can't attest to what it was like in the old days but the forum is definitely very left-sided. Both this and the Brexit thread are ample evidence of that.

And in case someone mistakes that observation for an endorsement...I'm someone who thinks that Brexit is seriously concerning for Britain.

Most if you have no idea what is happening in the states and equate trump with white supremacists is inane.

I don't because I don't live there, so I'm reluctant to delve too deeply into it.

I wish he cared of the demographic replacement of Europeans people in the states but he doesn't.

There is no American race so I'm not sure why the decline of the European peoples, as you put it, should be a concern. If you're suggesting that they are the REAL Americans, then you're opening a massive can of worms there.

In any case, the demographic decline you speak of is self-inflicted.

Jesus the Dems colluded and broke several laws spying in him and the media looked the other way. Hlllary and her staff should be in prison. Most who know me from the past know I'm a liberal. The Dems aren't the same party they have lurched so for left. Still most be believe the established media as gospel. They aren't.

I'm in some agreement with you here. The most blatant example of this is in politics and media alike is the motif of foreign influence in domestic affairs, i.e blame it on Russia.

The Russians are involved in this sort of thing in many countries, so the "motif" would be accurate.

The use of this motif is to push the narrative that the recent dissent from political norms (whether in the US, Britain or across Europe) is foreign in origin and hence artificial. Therefore, it doesn't really have to be contended with.

The idea that Russia, a country with an economy smaller than Canada, is at the heart of it all is a nonsense. And a dangerous nonsense at that.

The Russians are getting the scrutiny they deserve because they've been doing it in many countries over the past 15 years. The size of their economy is irrelevant since the barriers to entry for cyber hacking and troll farm operations are very low.

It's not the only existential crisis though. If something about Russia happens, literally every program on CNN from early morning to late night talks about it over and over again. Meanwhile we have a floating plastic island larger than Texas in the Pacific. Where's Blitzer, Jones, Cuomo and their panel of aspiring TV show hosts to have a discussion about it? But that would require CNN actually giving a shit.

Estonia is a hub for cyber attacks too and they're no powerhouse economy.

CNN are obviously milking it just like Fox are generally underplaying it. The important bit is it happened and since Trump isn't willing to take steps to stop it, it will likely happen again, which is a pretty big story.

The hyperfocus on Russian is a big mistake. I won't even talk about Fox as they're hopeless and were rotten from the very start.

Of course Russia should be scrutinised.

The notion that it is responsible for Brexit, Trump and so on is ridiculous however.

There were many many factors but they played their part. Couldn't have done it without tons of people going poor, sick, disillusioned by spineless politicians, and the general lack of critical thinking.

The focus is actually on Trump and his inability to admit the Russians were involved in activities that helped him win, whether it was micro targeting social media posts in the rust belt or using their military intelligence arm to funnel hacked emails to Wikileaks to weaken Trump's opponent. These were all massive, once in a lifetime stories that warranted extraordinary coverage. People are tired of hearing about Russia at this stage, and understandably so given the 3 years of saturation, but when this is reviewed in a generation or two from now, the coverage will be looked back as entirely appropriate given the circumstances.

And those same future generations would be disappointed by the lack of coverage on the other existential issues. It's 24 hour news coverage, so they can surely cover a wider spectrum of topics. What makes the declining ecosystems around the world less important than the President being a corrupt shill? That's all I'm saying.

Russia's at it again. Typical Trump, just a puppet of Putin!

Well to be fair to Trump... He did say the new York Times article that exposed this new measure was fake a d treasonous. New York Times article also said that they didn't tell trump about it in fear of him pulling the plug.

“Do you believe that the Failing New York Times just did a story stating that the United States is substantially increasing Cyber Attacks on Russia. This is a virtual act of Treason by a once great paper so desperate for a story, any story, even if bad for our Country,” - D. J. Trump

I mean it doesn't prove he's a puppet but that article doesn't prove he's not

There were many many factors but they played their part.

Whatever about Russian involvement, the main reason Trump won is because he was up against quite possibly the only person in the Western hemisphere who could've lost to him.

When a party chooses a candidate who attracts as much dislike as Hillary Clinton does, then that party invites defeat. The only conclusion to take from the whole affair is that the degree of stupidity in the Democrat party is high indeed.

If I were an American citizen I would've either spoiled my vote or not voted.

Couldn't have done it without tons of people going poor, sick, disillusioned by spineless politicians, and the general lack of critical thinking.

We're living in age when common sense seems esoteric.

And you think US is not involved in this sort of things (+ historical coups in many other countries)?

You don't have to be a leftie to realize that Trump is a dangerous, idiotic sociopath. You just have to not be an idiot yourself.

The polls don't shown me doing well so they are wrong, but when they are showing me doing well they are right

Fox News attacks too. He's hilarious.

And tags Aussie ABC

Are Republicans not genuinely embarrassed?

They don't possess the capacity for feeling embarrassed. Just like they don't give a shit when they're shown to be completely hypocritical and there's videos of them adamantly stating contradictory positions depending what side of the fight they are on (see Turtle McConnell on filling a SC vacancy in the 4th year of a Presidency).

They don't care, because they know there's no repercussions. They're all just playing a game and they don't give a feck about the reality of how people's lives are impacted, it's just about power and money.

Hope Hicks testifies on Friday. I’m not expecting it to be particularly dramatic or anything but the media is likely to flood with all sorts of Trump distractions in the near future, such as immigration policy, health care, Iran etc. All the type of stuff that will cause outrage among Dems and distract from other things he doesn’t want in the news. Better they take their focus away from his crimes. It also distracts his base and gives them something to get excited about.

He does it every time he suspects something negative about him is about to unfold and it works every time too. Don’t let him distract you.

I don't think we've become more left leaning, I just think the right in the US has become un supportable.

When I was at university I leaned GOP, particularly on trade and fiscal policy. But those are now the dems position, whereas the GOPs position is whatever their mentally challenged leader believes on that particular day. Following them is insane.

I can't believe this is even a realistic expectation! Do you really expect him to admit that. No politician in same situation would admit that.

This is about as unreasonable as expecting Sarah Sanders to condemn Trump. She's his mouthpiece ffs!

dont be distracted by things that actually affect your life like healthcare and whether or not we are going to start an imperialist war of aggression, instead focus on a former aide being evasive and saying nothing of value in a congressional hearing that half the senators wont bother to attend.

Not entirely related to Trump, but what happened to that Santi_mesut dude. I really miss his profound insights on Trump. Was he banned?
