This is a lie. USSS advises on security but the President makes the final call. He chose to skip the memorial.

Well, it's not exactly breaking news that he gives orders to his security detail and not the other way around, but do you honestly want to blame him for following their advice?

Don't know if already posted but I just couldn't ignore this.

Just imagine being in their shoes listening to this fecking idiot going on about Yugoslavia. Seriously.

Given that there’s probably about a 95% chance the whole thing is completely made up by him, yes I do blame him.

Hey everybody look at this completely out of the norm thing that is happening here. A staff member is leaving and it’s shocking because Melania is the one who requested the sacking. Why the feck would she have any opinion or input on this subject? This makes no sense and we should absolutely be focusing on and talking about this! Stop looking over there look over here!

Oiiii over here damn it! Totally what we should be discussing this week!

Anti bullying queen. "You're fecking fired!"

I thought it was against the rules that Trump could delete his tweets with misspellings n all but so far he's done it like 3 times in a day

If this was a movie it would have to be a comedy. But it isn’t, so it’s really not funny.

I’m at a loss to understand why everyone in America isn’t embarrassed.

Further to that, programme on french TV today, reporters on site showing weather was slight breeze and slight drizzle, also loads of American secret service already at the memorial who left the site rather sheepishly.

He misspelled Russia.

How?

It was the Western Allies who liberated France, not the Soviet Union. I'm sure the latter would have got there eventually, but being under Soviet control would hardly have been that much better than living under the Nazis.

I was jesting on Trumps level. I should have added white text.

 Fair, sorry I shouldn't have taken it seriously.

It really boggles my mind how after remembrance week we could have a president try to use the war as a way to score petty nationalist points like a 13 year old boy on reddit. Like, that tweet wouldn't be out of place coming from some American kid after you kill him on call of duty.

It would be a black comedy.

I can see the final scene now - the toad is all by himself is looking angry, desperate and sweaty as his fist slams down on to the big red button.

He falls back into his chair. 'It's done now, they won't laugh at me anymore,' he says to himself as a look of relief washes over his face.

Then in an instant he remembered he had to do one last thing. As quickly as his fat slimy fingers would allow he pulled out his phone from his suit jacket pocket, and started furiously typing away... Just one more tweet... "I'M THE BOMB."

Next you see a young kid looking out his window as the rockets take flight. Fade to black.

Didn't one of them do an infomercial with the fecking brochure of the jet he wanted.

Yeah pretty sure that was the second one I was talking about there. The utter audacity is unbelievable... But if they didn't have moron followers who send them money they wouldn't be in this position.

I'd say there's a good chance Armando Iannucci makes a "The Death of Stalin"-esque film about this entire process in a few years

Fingers crossed.

honestly who cares if he went to the memorial

When you claim to be someone who loves and respects the military and the service they provide, not going to a memorial because it rained is going to make people care a little bit.

Also, French didn't just finance the Revolution .. they fought it. At the Siege of Yorktown and other battles a large portion of the forces were French troops, they also provided tremendous naval support and helped train the U.S militias.

I mean, none of it was out of the goodness of their own heart (weren't the biggest fans of Britain) but still, absolutely no chance of the revolution succeeding without them. It was actually pretty stupid of France to aid them because it bankrupted the nation.

And without the British taking New France from France, the USA as it is wouldn't exist. Verhofstadt makes a tedious point (as usual), whereas Trump despite the child-like way he expresses himself has a point - a Europe wide army has a lot of question marks around it (regarding funding, size, who controls it).

BREAKING: Donald Trump is a hypocrite

Sure it's nothing new, but even for him it's pretty stupid as a guy who is meant to appeal to the right wing, who obviously view the military as a sacred institution.

In fairness though, at this point it seems they'd vote for him regardless of his actions.

It wouldn't work at all. There wouldn't be the appetite for it in a country like Germany who benefit hugely from their low military spending, and without them the E.U has no major military power other than France. And yeah, there are far too many nations with very distinct cultures etc, you would have to have individual commanders for each nations own force .. chaotic.

Also, with the U.K gone you have lost arguably Europe's greatest military power .. no way you compete with the U.S/China minus that.

They've shown they're willing to compromise on any supposed love for the military before though in voting for him. He's a draft dodger, insulted a revered war veteran in McCain, and insulted a dead Muslim soldier during his campaign as well. Like most American values they claim to want to uphold their supposed military support is just a smokescreen. And that's before getting onto the hypocrisy concerning the lack of support for veterans etc.

Or they were accountable to the IRS.

This ^.
He’s been consistent, and if the US military isn’t taking note then they’re stupid. Which explains a lot, come to think of it.
