The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

America is a joke. The fact the Trump administration believes it is the opposite is also a joke.

God help us all. Idiocracy at it's finest.

Kanye is clearly showing signs of hypomania. Borderline mania to be honest as he seems to express delusions of grandeur. From a psychiatric point of view, he's not well. The fact that he was allowed to rant for 10 minutes infront of the US president is concerning, this will only fuel the delusions.

People laugh and joke about his presidency run. However, the same was done to Trump, and look where we are. This should not be taken lightly and every attempt he makes to garner support in politics should be stifled at every opportunity.

I am definitely not ruling out Kanye getting elected at this point. Hell, even Kim K has a (money) shot.

Kanye’s not well. Loads of textbook signs of mania/hypomania in that rant. Possible he’s just off his tits on coke but my money’s on a mood disorder.

He has bipolar disorder doesn't he?

He definitely does not look well and I agree, he does show signs of mania there.

This is all just so messed up.

Nothing new there as it was widely known the feds were confined to investigating very narrow subject matter.

I thought Kanye would be bad after reading comments, tweets, etc but holy shit.

Made it all the more frustrating that it was turned into a joke by Trump and everyone laughing at him rather than addressing the problem. Everyone is complicit in making Kanye worse and I think Trump is treating him like a plaything and a child and the media on all sides are seeing dollar signs.

Frustrating and demeaning as someone both struggling with mental health and also hoping to become a professional practioner in the field, it’s all so, so fecked up and wrong. Can feel the anger bubbling up in me whilst listening to it and watching everyone’s reactions.

I don’t like him at all but I couldn’t help but feel for him. Definitely on the hypomanic side of his bipolar disorder (even if he says he’s misdiagnosed). He sounded exactly as bad as my nan does. Horrible.

He gets to chat genuine lunacy and delusion unchecked for 10 minutes and all anyone can do in that room is laugh about it. And in the Oval Office banging on the Resolute Desk too, absolutely shameful.

Even if Kanye happened to make complete sense and had great political insights to share, the sad fact remains that Trump is only having him there because of three reasons:

1. Kanye is famous, and Trump has always shamelessly courted celebrities.
2. Trump is fuelled by praise from others, particularly public praise.
3. Kanye liking Trump apparently equates to all black people liking Trump.

I can't find the Kavenaugh thread so putting it here. Disgusting behaviour but unsurprising.

I will never, ever understand how a government in a first world country, nevermind the selv-proclaimed leaders of the free world, can just basically shut down an investigation like that. Or tell the the investigators what not to look for. It’s borderline dictatorship, imo.

I think it's a little bit like Conkers to him. If Trump gets a "popular" figure onside, in his head he also gets their followers.

He specifically said he was misdiagnosed with bipolar and he was actually just suffering from sleep deprivation.

I Can't Believe It's Not Hitler!

I don't have the mental stamina to keep up with Mr Trump, just feels like a non running saga but my god that interview with Kanye made me cringe.

I stopped watching after 15mins or so and he really looked uncomfortable with that question about his comments on George bush way back.

Everytime I look at Trump in that video its as if he's humming we're in the money in his head to himself. Is this just not PR at it's finest?

That's only because of the type of investigation it was

I’m probably not completely up to speed, but the investigation was to find out if Kavanaugh had done something wrong, right? And apparently it didn’t suit the White House, so they made sure nothing would be found.

It's called the "Devil's Triangle" defence.

It simply states that no-one giving testimony under oath has to tell the truth if their wife is sitting right behind them :wenger:

Yup, the investigation was severely limited in scope by order of the White House. Yet again I cannot see how this was allowed or is legal. Many people who had evidence were denied the chance to present it to the FBI or they were just put right ignored. Since then we have found out that Kavenaugh had over a dozen complaints made against him while he was a Judge and those complaints were kept back from being presented to the judicial committee until AFTER he was confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice.

Yet again I reiterate, ad nauseam, HOW THE feck CAN THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS?

Surely it takes more than just the President to be complicit to arrange cover ups like this?

One thing is for sure, the USA needs some serious amendments to its system with a massive overhaul and some serious checks and balances put in place to prevent this type of mass corruption ever happening again after Trump. If not, it is doomed!

Yeah well, that’s exactly my point. That the White House is able to dictate how an investigation of a potential SC judge should proceed just to ensure his nomination is absolute bonkers.

I recently watched the Roe v Wade documentary on Netflix and just then realized how important these judges actually are.

It wasn't an FBI investigation, it was a supplementary background check. Two very different things.

The former is open-ended where agents follow evidence wherever it leads. The latter is limited in scope to parameters set by the requestor.

That's why it was both allowed and legal. Was it appropriate and just given the accusations against Kavanaugh and the position he was nominated for? Different question and obvious answer.

Get the impression this story is far bigger than just the death of one person

They are basically goading America at this point first with the Qatar blockade, then the civilian casualties in the Yemen war, the Canada dispute and now this. It sucks that the secretary of state is limp dick Pompeo and the point man to the Saudis is the amazing person I admire Kushner who are both already aiding and abetting the Yemen shit-show for MbS.

the right: Taylor Swift should keep out of politics. Stick to the singing
the left: Wooooo Taylor Swift is voting Democrats. Thank You Taylor Swift

Also the right: Wow Kanye West is meeting President Trump. This is great
Also the left: Kanye West shouldn't be meeting Trump. He should the to rapping. Disgrace, sell out

I get what you are saying here and there are differing opinions about whether celebrities should use their platform for politics. The difference is that Swift urged people to use their democratic rights and vote, West (regardless of his political stance) is an ignorant, narcissistic areshole

So obvious that Swift and Kanye planned a lot of this nonsense. Timing is too coincidental.

Mate. The fact that it seems like very few people seem to give a fcuk about this anymore and it was only several days ago leaves me with very little confidence in them doing anything about it.

I expect things to get much worse before they get any better. Of course someone will come along now and post that I'm exaggerating and that I don't know what I'm talking about....

It all warranted investigation and there wasn't much of one. Instead the guy got a lifetime appointment to the highest court, and most people shrugged and moved on...

I've never gotten this line of thinking. You don't stop being a person, a citizen the moment you become celebrity. Anybody else can air their opinions, influence, lie, inspire, etc... Why not them?

correct. the media are complicit in all of this

The media are worse than Trump. Sounds like Hyperbole but it's factually correct for me. He is a better president than they are journalists.

It's so easy to hold him to account. You've got to wonder why they don't.

Could it possibly be that he's a cash cow for politically driven written content that makes fcukloads of money?

As a juvenile false equivalence... when 15 years old at school we heard that our 35-40 years old French teacher was dating our History teacher of the same age. 15 of us decided that we would find out during our next class. The poor teacher tried to teach. Every time she stopped we asked "Miss, are you dating Mr...". We must have asked 50-100 times in an hours class. She broke and admitted it before the bell rang.

How the fcuk can the entire might of the non-right multi-billion dollar media industry not get a senile old man to answer one question to a point of satisfaction? It's not difficult.

1. Ask question.
2. Is it answered?
2a) Yes - ask next question
2b) No - ask same question again
[repeat until all questions are answered]

The members of this forum could replace the entire white house journalist pool and deliver more accurate, more authentic, more impactful and more important content.

America. Is. Fcuked.

Eh? Two people talked politics barely a month from an election?
Grnted, I've got no evidence but the history between those two is hard to ignore. Wouldn't be the first time they colluded to create controversy.

It really is. Both, who have some sort of stupid pop singer feud for years, come out in the same week with different political viewpoints. One of them never having been even slightly political previously. The masses lap up the stupid coverage and the real, menacing stuff continues to be done under their noses.

You're right. What I don't get is why anyone would care one iota about what Kanye West or Taylor Swift have to say regarding politics (or anything really).

Don't know much about Taylor but yes, Kanye chats shite.

Kuntye didn't suddenly become a Trumper in the last week. He's been on that bandwagon for ages.
