Result is out.

what a thoroughly undeserved win for me :( and quite a naff game, sorry about that TMH, you did fantastically and based on what happened during the game you should have lifted the trophy... what was your prize money? I got £3.5M

Ah, no worries. I got half of that. 1.75.
Changed tactics a bit for this game than my usual ( which is random) and looks like it worked well..but not from result perspective.

Yeah, you were all over me:

Nice sum you got. Good luck for the rest of the season :)

Hehe ya the cup runs have given me some money which is decent given I don't have much in bank. Final in this and quarters in shield. Given I make losses in away games, this prize money covers 2-3 away games losses :D

Haah. Still a 87 rated player, so if any of the guys in lower division want him for next season, he can be decent there. I guess....Or who knows, I might end up getting relegated :nervous:

Next trophy up for grabs is the League Shield next week. Chelsea against Darlington in the final.

Points of note:
  • a different team has won the League Cup every single season
  • Forest are the first team to win all European trophies
  • United are the first team to win all Domestic trophies
  • Forest's manager has won the most trophies with one club
  • only four teams have won the league and it is likely to remain that way unless Newcastle give my squad food poisoning

Turns out Forest have six top level trophies, not seven (had them down as winning two CS' for some reason).

and now for a history of managers with most trophies:

y8dq8Vp.png

@christy87 is the only manager to win top level trophies with more than one club, while @RedSky is the only manager to have won a specific trophy more than once. In all seasons so far, the league winner has won the charity shield too. If I win the league, I'll most likely be playing Newcastle in the charity shield, so that streak will probably be broken.

If, as expected, United do win the league this season, I'll be the first manager to win the league multiple times.

Updated

Various Division 1 records:

Most points: 82 - Chelsea (Season 3)
Most goals: 99 - Chelsea (Season 4) & Manchester United (Season 5)
Least goals conceded: 32 - Fulham (Season 6)
Best goal difference: 44 - Chelsea (Season 3)
Most home wins: 16 - Manchester City (Season 2)
Most away wins: 14 - Manchester City (Season 4))
Player with most league goals: 43 - Ibrahimovic (Arsenal - Season 7)
Player with most league assists: 24 - Rooney (Arsenal - Season 4)
Player with most MOTM: 14 - Ibrahimovic (Arsenal - Season 6 & Season 7)
Point gap over second: 7 - Chelsea (Season 3)
Point gap over fifth: 22 - Chelsea (Season 3)

With 9 games to go, these are United's stats:

Points: 72 (10 fewer than Chelsea)
Goals scored: 81 (18 fewer than Chelsea)
Goals conceded: 30 (2 fewer than Fulham)
Goal difference: 51 (7 more than Chelsea)
Home wins: 11 (can at most equal City's record... doubt it)
Away wins: 12 (need 2 more to equal City's record with 4 away games left to play)
Player with most goals: 34 - Messi (9 fewer than Ibrahimovic)
Player with most assists: 17 - Messi (7 fewer than Rooney)
Player with most MOTM: 12 - Messi (2 fewer than Ibrahimovic)
Point gap over second: 14 (7 more than Chelsea)
Point gap over fifth: 20 (2 fewer than Chelsea)

Decent chance of getting points record, goal difference and maybe point gap over second... can't see the player with most goals record being obtainable anymore as Messi can't play tonight and is one yellow away from a suspension so realistically at most he can play in seven games.

Hey Andy :) Don't think so unfortunately, the league has undergone a bit of a renaissance of late. 36/100 clubs filled. There are a few division two sides free but don't think the players they have are anything special

@The Stain, my predictions:

United-QPR: 2 (side effect from playing my first team on Tuesday)
City-Forest: X
Spurs-Stoke: X
Reading-Fulham: 2
Newcastle-Darlington: 1
Blackburn-Chelsea: 2
Ipswich-MK Dons: 2
Sunderland-Villa: 1 (Sunderland in good form and Villa likely to field second string team)
Southampton-Palace: 1
Everton-Arsenal: 2

There is no way i'm getting anything from Spurs away, just can't see it.

So, we're even before this round:

United-QPR: 1
City-Forest: X
Spurs-Stoke: 1
Reading-Fulham: 2
Newcastle-Darlington: 1
Blackburn-Chelsea: X
Ipswich-MK Dons: 2
Sunderland-Villa: 1
Southampton-Palace: 1
Everton-Arsenal: 2

Fairly similar.

Defeated villa 5-2. The start was crazy.

1:00 Dani ALVES drills the ball across the box.RODRÍGUEZ smashes a shot at goal.

GOAL!! - The ball deflects in off the keeper legs.
2:00 LAMELA receives the ball on the edge of the penalty area.He gets past his marker and hits the ball into a dangerous area.LUKAKU controls the ball and fires a strike towards the roof of the net.

4:00 Gonzalo HIGUAÍN chests the ball down to RODRÍGUEZ.RODRÍGUEZ smashes a shot at goal.

GOAL!! - It goes under the goalkeeper and in.

Three goals in the opening four minutes

Alcacer continues his amazing run for me, another rating of 10 and an assist. Has an average rating of 8.22 and contributes a goal/assist every game.

5' LACAZETTE plays a pass out wide.SHAW shrugs of the challenges and finds himself with a shooting opportunity. He goes for the bottom corner.
spacer.gif
GOAL!! - It's right in the corner and the keeper has no chance.
23' SHAW whips a vicious cross into the area.ERIKSEN connects well with the header. It's straight at the keeper and he makes the save.
48' SHAW curls a low ball towards the back post from the corner of the penalty area.SON tries his luck at goal with a fancy flick.

GOAL!! - The ball sneaks in.
61' DIGNE spots a run by SHAW plays a long pass along the ground.SHAW takes the ball into the box.He goes for the bottom corner.

GOAL!! - The ball is well placed and creeps just inside the post.
79' DEPAY sees SHAW in space and switches play.SHAW darts towards the by-line.He fires a low strike from a narrow angle.HANDANOVIČ saves with his body.

Two goals, an assist and could have been a heck of a lot more. Shaw has been a revelation.

Beat QPR 5:0 and Newcastle lost. Wasn't expecting that at all.

Nice, congrats. Think you've got a shot at finishing second?

Top four will do for me, although just had a look at newcastle fixtures. With only two point between us, I think I have a chance. The game on the 17th might just be over who finishes second. But would need to maintain my form for that and thats in no way guaranteed

We both play
  • Arsenal
  • Ipswich
  • Crystal Palace
  • Southampton
  • Each Other
These are the clubs we differ in, mine are listed first.
  • Everton vs Chelsea
  • BlackBurn vs Milton Keynes
  • Reading vs Villa
Looking at that I would say I have a slightly easier fixture list, but arsenal, forest, chelsea, milton keynes and city are all in the hunt.

My remaining fixtures

Home -------------- Away
---------------------- Nottingham Forest
Stoke City --------------------
-----------------------
Fulham
Darlington 1883 ------------------
-----------------------
Chelsea
Milton Keynes Dons -----------------
-----------------------
Aston Villa
Crystal Palace -------------------
