Gaming The SM RedCafe League

This week is going to be a pain. A few players I've had my eye on have already got bids but the players I want to get rid of have transfer bans expiring in 5 or so days time.

Imagine my frustration at no one registering any sort of interest for Rio Ferdinand, I was playing that one so sneaky that I didn't even short list him but then Liverpool nipped in last night.

feck it, I sold the bastard. It is a gamble, but atleast I have cover for my defence, I have zero attacking ones really. Now I'm the git talking to myself.

I guess no club will bid for my players as long as I'm at the 21 player-limit? I wonder what player I could bring in to strenghten my team on a budget of a massive £700k

 I'm doing that with a few players too (not registering insterest, just checking on them daily).

You could bring in a youth player and then sell one of your others for more money. That should help you bring someone in.

Hmmm wonder who'll win Rooney's signature. Battle between Levo's Spurs and banished Ned's rent boys.

It seems like I stayed in the cups just long enough for me to still be out of debt just as the transfer bans end. I have to decide who to swap and who to keep though.

I need to strenghten my squad though, not just my first XI. I am forced to put a youngster into my first 16 as soon as I suffer one single injury, which is why I have to improve my depth rather then the standard of my starting XI. It's going to be even worse when Caulker and Sigurdsson finishes their loans aswell. Even Ramos is proving to be a useful member of the squad, and I loaned him aswell.

I've played a long term strategy with my squad-building/transfers from the very start, sacrificing three big players (Tevez, Kompany, Balotelli) in order to plan for the long game. It's one of the reasons I'm so proud to be top if the league despite other teams having stronger first XI's than myself. I'm confident that my current squad can keep me competitive on all fronts for many years to come as my youth and reserve teams are swarming with potential world class superstars; I still intend to build but it's gonna be a much more relaxed process from now on, no need to be fighting over highly rated ex-Prem players for me as I've got all my 90+ prodigies all lined-up waiting to mature.

What the feck!? Surely in terms of ratings only United & Chelsea must be anywhere close to your first team rating.

Does anyone know what impact the subs actually make, do they only stop your players you took off from deteriorating further by the end of the game, or do your players actually deteriorate during the game where a sub will bring an increased performance as he's 'fresh'? I never got around to working that one out.

Yes, United and Chelsea have better first XI's, that's what I was referring to. I'm still top though, and whereas their squads are relatively small and ageing, my oldest player after the Toure brothers at 31 and 29 is Cristiano Ronaldo at 27yo. United and Chelsea still have a lot of building to do in order to make their squads viable long-term; my building is complete though, and almost every one of my 46 sub-90 rated players has great potential of becoming 90+ and with time on their side - I've researched and scouted them well, it's taken a lot of time and effort but I'm confident that my current Manchester City squad represents the benchmark for years to come.

I can rival you on the age of the first team squad, apart from Friedel the next oldest is your 28 year old Adebayor. Team is quite small but at the end of the season when the loanee's return a few more additions will be made.

Not to shabby to say my budget and playing squad level is dwarfed by the likes of you, United, City, Arsenal & Liverpool.

Agreed.

My squad has a fair few players on the wrong side of their career, 4 players 30+, yet I still have brilliant talent in my younger players.

GK 21 90R
RB 21 89R
RB 22 86R
Def 20 89R
CB/LB 23 91R
CB 22 88R
CM 22 86R
Wing 22 87R
CF 23 90R

With the rest of my squad being 24 - 28. I'm confident I only need to make the odd future signing at the end of the transfer window to add to an already rated young team that will happily take the reigns one day.

Now I'm back we've begun our late charge. Handing Wigan their biggest home defeat this season and setting a new away record.

It's Urbanned who is fecked, he has Lukaku 88R 19, then Sturridge 89R 22, then Ozil 94R 23, then his next best players are 25+

How many of those were already at the club when you took over though, I've got the likes of Walker but wouldn't take credit for him as he was already at the club.

I was on about signings of young players such as Marc Andre Ter-stegen etc.

Last night, Kone came on at 75min with 0-0 on board.
Scored the winner at 84min.
Sometimes they have an impact, usually above 6 rating.

It's immaterial really, if they weren't at the club I'd have gone and got them. The reason I haven't splurged on the youth like others have is because I already have the foundations. 3 of the above I brought in, and one more who I didn't put in the list because he's an 84 rated LB/RB. I had 6 already and brought 4 more in. I could field almost a full team of young players. I'm confident they'll be ready to step up when the time comes.

And a couple of games ago away to Brighton, Jantschke and Inzaghi came on at 60mins with the score level at 1-1. Jantschke scored the winner at 84min and Inzaghi set him up. Both had an 8 rating and so did the third sub (Torsiglieri).

Yeah I get that the might score, but I mean does anyone know if anywhere they actually have an impact in terms of being fresher than the person you took off.

Does fatigue factor in throughout the game, or does it just get set after the game has finished? Does bringing on a 'fresh' player work, or does it just prevent the guy you took off from losing another 5% fitness after the game, where if you had left him on he'd have performed as well as the guy you brought on.

Great, so the muppetfest begins yet again.

I bought myself a new attacker some weeks ago for nearly nothing, and he's been bloody brilliant so far. Gotta say I'm pleased with what I've managed to do with such a lousy budget.
