Gaming The SM RedCafe League

He's shit. You should trade him to me for Inzaghi.

You mean the man who won your last game for you?!

The only explanation for Gomis not getting an increase is that Soccer Manager is racist... it's the only thing that makes sense. (Let's skirt over the fact that some of the other players in the top 7 French Goalscorers are also black...).

Seriously though... 4th top goal scorer in the league, and 2nd top goalscorer discounting penalties, yet no ratings increase? Racism.

Dabo is the only player I think left in the French League who may get a rating change, the others I think are sticking at 0 :(

Yes. Inzaghi > Gomis. I'm doing you a favour by offering him to you - a guaranteed game winner.

I agree with you on Gomis though - apart from the racism bit. Very odd that he hasn't gone up. Maybe he's a brilliant scorer while performing poorly at the same time? I don't know. There are some players that don't go up in the initial update but do have their ratings changed a few days later for some reason. Probably best looking in the forums to see if anyone else has the same question.

Loaning Danny N'Guessan. He's only 81, but can play in 5 positions. Take him someone (or a permanent deal if you want) and prevent me from maybe going into the red. :(

Following his rating change, Muriel has now been promoted to the first team squad and is tipped to start against Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday.

Nagatomo is probably the only remaining player who will increase from the top 5 leagues, rest will either stay the same or decrease.

Bit of photoshopping involved. On the squad page when you click the link that says "Views" I looked at both the club views and the player ratings and merged the two together. Took more effort than it was probably worth tbh.

Ah shag it, was fecking around with my tatics yesterday and now I can't change anything is SM ain't working on my phone.

Do you get notified of a player rating change in your news feed?

And whoever Scunthorpe is. You should have PMd me on here about that friendly. I didn't know you'd requested one until just now.

Do you get notified of a player rating change in your news feed?

Yes. It also tells you when someone on your shortlist goes up which is a pain in the are when you've got 70 or so players on it. Many a time have I woke up, seen the message, got all excited then it turned to disappointment when I find that player X of team Y on my shortlist went up.

I have maybe 2 people on my shortlist so I can't imagine I'll have the same problem :)

I got no notification when M'Vila went up, only found out when I went to the reports tab for the International match reports.

Got a friendly away to Bristol City tonight, think I've tinkered with my tactic a little too much but we'll see.

My record vs Division 1 clubs:

Swansea (H) - W 3-1 (ignore the fact myself and Burrow weren't in charge then)
Chelsea (A) - W 2-1
Arsenal (A) - W 1-0
Swansea (H) - W 4-1

Play Wolves in a friendly tonight. Can't see me doing that well though as I've not bothered with the tactics yet.

I'll hopefully have some decent loan-listed players up for grabs sometime over the next couple of days so keep your eyes peeled, lower league managers.

Past games:

Blackpool 1 - 4 Leeds United (Friendly)
Leeds United 1 - 2 Carlisle United (Friendly)

----------------------------------

Looking at the stats I really should have won that. Good game zlatan.

Drew 0-0 with Plymouth.

24 shots, 8 on target; all my players got 8's except three 7's, all his got 6's apart from one, his keeper on 5.

I'm really beginning to doubt the authenticity of this game.

Sometimes I feel the same but I've only lost 1 out of the 13 games I've played so can't complain. Like most football games there's an element of it that is random, but I don't think the shots on target stat in proportion to the goals scored is at all realistic.

My keeper got a 5 but in the match commentary it says he made some great saves (someone said the match commentary wasn't a great representation of the ratings/what happened in the game though)

And you laughed at me for my results.

It is mind boggling sometimes when you log on and see the result.

At least I beat Norwich 3-1 this time. fecking friendly though, the 2-2 the other night was a league game. 2-2 despite having 60% possession. Like you said it's a bit dodgy.

4th game in a row I've had 60+% possession. Just need to keep working on shots on target.

Leeds manager Damien makes shock announcement!

Leeds United manager Damien has today announced his intention to apply for the Sunderland job if it is still available.

"I have loved my time with Leeds and if I don't get the job then it won't be too much of a blow as I have enjoyed the competition and rivalry with RedSky, Annihilate Now and many others," said Damien, "I am completely new to the game but have had a great start to my managerial career here. We currently sit 2nd in the league and are in a strong position financially if I do move on and someone else takes over. Will I get the Sunderland position? Probably not but it is worth a try."

Damien has submitted his credentials in the spoiler below:

Name: Damien

Clubs managed (No. of seasons at club, inc. current season)

Leeds United - The Red Cafe League (No full seasons completed)

Honours won

None

Current season

Leeds United (The Red Cafe League) season 1
Division: 2
Games played: 4
Points: 10
Current league position: 2nd

Playing style

I change my tactics depending on the side I play against. Usually when I play a strong side away I start off defensive and end the match more offensively which has yielded good results (see the wins against Chelsea and Arsenal for two notable examples). I pride myself on having sides with strong defences and in the 13 games I have played since taking control of Leeds, we have only conceded more than one goal once, and have kept six clean sheets. The formation I favour is 4-2-3-1.

Transfer policy

Signing young players and some risers (see Sala, Jantschke, Muriel for examples of both). As a rule I usually don't sign players 27 or older, but there have been some exceptions which haven't resulted well. I've made my mistakes but I feel I have learned from them. When dealing in the market I look at my finances and make sure that the club is not going to go in debt - and to this date Leeds have not gone into debt and if I leave, whoever takes over them will be in a solid financial position with a nice young, strong squad of players.

Additional information

I have loved my time at Leeds, and if I don't get the vacant position at Sunderland my dedication to Leeds will not waver at all but I feel ready to have a shot at managing a Division 1 side and aim to take them to the next level, and what challenge could be better than Sunderland?

While at Leeds I have played 13 games both in the league and friendlies. Here is the full breakdown:

Played: 13
Won: 9
Drawn: 3
Lost: 1
Win %: 69.2
Goals for: 28
Goals against: 8
Clean sheets: 6
Total shots: 236
Total shots on target: 123
Opponents total shots: 144
Opponents total shots on target: 67

I'm also unbeaten against Division 1 clubs in the four matches I have played against them. Results:

Chelsea 1 - 2 Leeds United
Arsenal 0 - 1 Leeds United
Leeds United 4 - 1 Swansea City
Wolverhampton Wanderers 0 - 0 Leeds United

So mr Damien, why would you like to work for us here in Sunderland?

You're better than my old club.

Okay, and how long have you been in your profession for?

A couple of weeks.

I see, and what notable honours have you managed to add to your resume?

None...

I see...

:D

Dear Scum,

We appreciate your application for the vacancy at Sunderland FC. Unfortunately we have decided not to accept your application at this time, factors included that your the dirty leeds manager, lack of loyalty and general shitness.
