The Second RedCafe Sheep Draft

BTW, I love Crespo, awesome pick. Poor chap, his later years didn't help his rep but he was breathtaking in his prime. Such a complete player...
Yeah I love him so much, he was such an amazing striker at his period in Lazio and Parma. He always gets underrated in these drafts yet I keep on picking him because he was so brilliant. Finished at 00-01 top scorer above the likes of Shvechenko, Batistuta and more unpicked strikers, and third in 99-00 just behind these two

4-5-1 with a pair of attacking fullbacks? Dunga was not a good choice. Someone who could drop into defence would have been better.
Dunga is definitely not ideal, but I really don't like the idea that he's not good enough for being the DM without his usual draft partner(who hasn't been picked yet so I won't mention him by name).
Dunga is a superb DM, and with the CBs I got(Ciro and Vierchowod) who are both top class, plus the defensive assistance you got from Keane, plus the work rate from my wingers(and especially Nedved), I don't think you must have a DM who could drop to be a classic third CB and a good DM will work just as good.

I thought that he went in the first round uncontested.
He is a little overrated in these drafts, with his "ultimate DM" ability. I, for one, am glad that he is blocked.

Ivan Nielsen replaces 'not van Hanegem' in MJJ's team. He was part of that Feyenoord team in '83/84 alongside Cruyff.

Me likes. Nothing special, but the sort of defender that demands respect or else he will beat you up to a pulp

This is where I'm at at the moment;

Obviously it depends on what is available in the next round, but I think I have 3 options realistically;

Getting in a dynamic box to box cm who can drift out to the sides from time to time in a 4-3-2-1;
A direct pacey runner to play from the right in a 4-2-3-1; or
A left centre back, and go 3-4-2-1.

Hmm

You have to win your game first! :lol:

But he needs two centrebacks! One now, one next, when is he going to get "a dynamic box to box cm who can drift out to the sides from time to time in a 4-3-2-1"?
Lucio and Tresor are already in his team. And he had to pick a goalkeeper in this round, so he has one more pick to complete the team with for example "a dynamic box to box cm who can drift out to the sides from time to time in a 4-3-2-1"

I was confused just like Anto. He should have just named Lucio and Tresor in the formation graphic!

Fair enough, that probably would have helped.

Aye, sounds like he doesn't rate them much :lol: They must be furious with their manager! That surely has to be brought up in his first game, no?

I'm not sure, I've heard that these 'DEFENDER' guys are incredibly hot prospects, maybe he's just giving the youth a chance

My Team:

My-team-formation-tactics.png

Basic idea is Dunga as the DM who stays back with Keane and Scholes getting more license to go forward than they had in Fergie's 4-4-2 but Keane being able to cover for the fact that Dunga is used to have another very sound defensively next to him, and that will allow our full backs to have more license going forward.

Is the assumption everyone is working on is that you can have one sheep without starting them but 2 will mean starting a sheep?

That's my understanding. Though who knows what event Skizzo will have.

Viva,

If you can get a decent couple of full-backs you should go far. I really like your team- Crespo was a quality pick!

My team is already in the ditches. No formation can help me now.
My only hope is to get MJJ in the 1st round, so that the matchup will be on equal sheep terms :(

:lol: I don't know why you're always so quick to claim disaster and underrate your team. It's a cracking team despite the sheep. No team with Baresi, Jairzinho, Muller and Baggio can ever be in the ditches.

Hmmmm. Dunno, mate. I overheard Skizzo muttering to himself earlier today. Seems he plans on deciding the first round matches through random questions (all pertaining to his age at various points) rather than votes.

@VivaJanuzaj quality team, but it feels weird to see Keane and Scholes in a 3 man midfield.
Yeah I feel you, I thought this trough for a while and wanted to play that 4-4-2 but with the quality of attacks in this draft I felt that without a huge defensive line(which can still be really really good, just not amazing) Keano-Scholes won't be able to help the defense as much as needed while still contributing so much like they can going forward.
Plus, I wanted that for once a draft game that includes Scholes won't be around wether it's early days or later days' Scholes

Cheers mate, I actually think Vierchowod is the "quality pick", I think he will do Ferrara's partner(lets call him x for now) much better than the original one and together they will form a very solid defensive duo.

@VivaJanuzaj You still have to decide which Scholes it is though. He can't be box to box AND control the game.
