The Second RedCafe Sheep Draft

You can do every WC red/yellow card ever in about an hour. Pre-70s is a bit of an arse though but you would already have 15-20 options by then.

Agreed, but sometimes things come up and you don't have an hour to spare on a hectic day; and planning future picks/strategy takes a bit longer. This is definitely a criteria that takes more time than usual. The manager one took me about 20 minutes.

And anyway Skizzo isn't usually around at the deadline because of his timezone. We could have had an extra hour here.

I would try to send a pick in and discuss it with @Skizzo later. Can't hurt.

Where are the results!

I actually thought the pool was very small with many certain blocks. I think there might be sheep/crap picks galore tbh

There's at least 10 great independent pairs, so if you only considered those at the very least 4 would necessarily have to go through. Now add all the intertwined ones... There should be 5-6 managers passing in the first round, unless you all decided to go to a very small pool of games.

May be we should standardize the 1st pick deadline to a specific time, irrespective of when it starts.

Let's say we all agree on 10pm GMT. Irrespective of when the 1st pick starts, it will always end at the 10pm coming after 24hrs.
E.g. If it starts at 6pm today, then it will still end at 10pm tomorrow (though 24hrs ends at 6pm tomorrow)

Streamlines the process much imho.

Ad Hoc extensions delay the process and may lead to drag and loss of interest. Enforcement should be hard and just.

Is everyone going for proven partnership picks here. Am I the only one who went for GOAT glory here?

 Depends on what you mean by GOAT glory. When I refer to GOATs here I mean positional ones: top 5 or so GKs, CBs, FBs, CMs, AMs, FWs... I'd argue there's about 25 of those available here, but sure, there's also GOATs as in top 10 footballers ever. I expect one of those to squeeze through at least, possibly two, and 10-15 of the others, leaving the rest to be crap picks or sheep.

I actually thought my picks in this round were obvious and clear. So obviously, I switched things up.

I'm just being deliberately confusing as I'm bored at work.

Servers are down.

I didn't go for any proper GOATs, but there's still no way both mine will get through, especially as one is part of a combination that some other person has probably gone for.

Nah I don't care about these stuff. I'm going for all or nothing.

Could be gold, that - if most are being more cautious, picking a match/round with better chances of recovering from a block. It's possible to win the lottery here, in that sense.

Sorry. Been a bit hectic over here today. Had to take someone in to the hospital. I'll be posting the results up now. Sorry for the delay .

Also, I'm in favor of looking at deadlines so it's a bit fairer for everyone. I've been screwed by time zones so I feel the pain :)

Is everything okay mate? feck the draft if anything is going on..

I'm going through results. I'm only counting 14. Apologies if I'm missing yours and you sent them in.

Incoming now :) half went big, half went safe. Should make it interesting.

It's irrelevant once you got the pass. If you mean that you would rather move to the other match he was carded in, no, you can't. You already put your eggs in that basket.

So, if you can't get a second player in the game because there's none unblocked or left, you do get a sheep for a 2nd player?

I'm guessing playmaker and box to box. Both top 10 GOAT material

That was the obvious blocker move, so obvious that there was every chance everybody would pass on it

I thought that would be the most common pick!

I think your ideal pick was going one level deeper, starting there and akin to pulling a string... see where you end up...

There's a couple that absolutely take the piss in that sense, question is how many end up in that hunting ground. For all we know they may block each other all the way to a sheep pair... and even then it wouldn't be a bad pair either. I wonder how many thought of that, even when I literally spelt it out yesterday...

Who are you missing? Just in case it got lost, maybe they are around.
