The Second RedCafe Sheep Draft

Now both players don't know they have chosen the same match, right?
- Player A can choose Charles, and Player B Joe which would again result in 'Already picked' block.
- Player A can choose Charles, while Player B can go for Jing-Yu....in which Player A gets royally screwed as his next pick will also be blocked...but Player B wins 2nd pick.

The additional complications is that Jing-Yu can be chosen by another manager from a different match.

Of..This is devious !!

I can imagine Skizzo like:

My premise was Joe had only ever beeen carded in that game, so the moment he was blocked you know you are coexisting in it.

In any case, the corolary is that if you ever pick a game with four* or more carded players the round becomes irrelevant as you will never get out of the game itself, and hopefully you aren't trapped in it with some other numpty blocking each other all the way to a sheep.

*so long as they aren't blocked beforehand

Oh, that makes this quite easy, then. I thought we were required to only pick teams from different sides.

It does open up loads of options. I think quite a few position GOATs will squeeze through in this round.

And what happens if one of the carded players in the match is already in the blocked list? Would you make them choose it again? Or only unblocked players should be picked before moving to next match. E.g Beckenbauer here.

-If you get one player through and one blocked and the player through has a card in another match, it's irrelevant, right?

-What happens if, due to blocking, you get one player through and there is nobody else unblocked whom they share a card in a game with. Is your 2nd player a sheep?

Busby, Fagan, Schaaf

you can pick a player from the same round in the tournament. so opens a lot of options

Or get blocked.

Oh yeah, sure, there's quite a few that I'll be shocked if they don't. Some really interesting plays available out there, but there's so many one is invariably going to end up getting lucky.

He is in the blocked list, you are not expected to try pick him obviously, but feel free to try.

It's irrelevant once you got the pass. If you mean that you would rather move to the other match he was carded in, no, you can't. You already put your eggs in that basket.

A 12 hr deadline should be sufficient for all rounds imo!

No. If the first pick of a round comes in the night EST, there is no way I can wake up, research and submit the pick on time. 2nd and 3rd pick 12 hours is ok as research is already done.

Came in here to ask the same question. Not a good sign

No way. The second phase of this round will be from 9 pm to 9 am for me, for example - and I'm going out of the city (to drink mostly, feck the nature), without my laptop. What if I were to research the World Cup bookings - with a few hours left, drunk and on the phone with a shitty reception? 24 hours is fine for the first phase. For the second and third one it's fine, you can submit your picks beforehand anyway.

There are some lethal combinations out there if someone gets lucky and isn't blocked.

Yep, at least one per manager actually. Now, if only you knew which one everyone else goes for... That's how powerful the crystal ball card could be @Skizzo ! Although you wouldn't give it away with a round like this one remaining, could be worth two GOATs.

I actually think this criterion came a bit too early. Still too many goats available. It would have been a better fit after one or two more rounds with a few more goats blocked. It really could upset the balance of the teams if someone gets lucky here. Imagine NM adding a 2nd goat to Puskas, it could be game over if he doesn't take too many risks in the following rounds.

Should be fun though :D.

He can easily do that, there's a couple of very obvious plays for him to go for and one pretty much guarantees a GOAT if not two.

Too much "X should pick Y" talks for a sheep draft

Eh? I just said he had a couple of obvious plays. There's truckloads of them and I challenge all you complainers to guess what I'm talking about. Actually, send me a PM with your guess and we can all laugh at how wrong you all were later once the three rounds are over.

As long as Y is a tactical route or an option rather than a particular player, I don't think there's anything wrong with it. For us neutrals it's the different options which are interesting - and if we can't discuss those, the thread will be pointless to us.

My sheep is making me rethink my priorities.

Unless you get more of the wooly sort, you don't actually have to play him - I presume there will be 12 man squads here.

Then again, in a more general, philosophical sense, the idea of sheep (and goats, not least) can easily make a man question the very fundamentals of existence.

I'm almost certain that I'll have another sheep at some point.
