The Referee Enabled Shithousery of Spanish Teams

They do this in basketball as well. It is part of their sport culture for a few years now.

Let us not pretend that the Germans weren't playing dirty too. They set the tone in the opening 10 minutes and Taylor let them get away with it.

I don't know a single German player who was notorious for rolling around clutching his face at every bit of contact other than Khedira and we all know where he learnt that from.

Also the whole running huge doping rings in all of their sports and then the spanish courts ordering the evidence to be destroyed when the police investigation actually yielded results.

It was a good game but couldn’t help but feel cynical fouling is a plague on the game.

But it was at the start of the game.... refs arent allowed to book at that time!

During the England game many (English) posters were claiming that referees shouldnt book players during the first part of the game. English referee Anthony Taylor had the same mentality and it became one of the worst refereed games at the Euros.

They merged with latin america. That's why they started winning. And they'll keep on winning by doing it.

Not sure how you can watch that game and focus on Spain over Andrich and especially Kroos...

Spain, Portugal and maybe to a bit lesser extent Italy have always been doing it. It isnt some new thing after they merged
Italy does too, they are tricky just as south American teams.
Spain stopped being naive after 2006. Not really sure about Portugal, it's just a few players but not as many as Spain.
The rest of Europe are just too naive and expect a gentleman's game.

Maybe when most teams don't play like assholes and a select few do, perhaps it isn't the ones that don't play like dicks that are the problem.

Except for Nacho, there wasnt much shithousery.

In terms of fouls and cards, Germany profited more.

Yes that might happen, when we have AI teams playing each other with AI refs.

All we need is refs to get their shit together.

Every dive = instant booking.

Every pretend pain when there was little to no contact = instant booking.

We'll see it weeded out in no time.

Imagine being mad at Spain playing "the dirty game" after today, with Kroos getting the special treatment for his last game not a single legit controversial call in Spain's favor

It isn't the tactical fouling, it's the fecking playacting.

But those are easy to see for us that are looking at a tv with replays. It's not easy to see in the middle of a football pitch in real time.

Unless you want to either give VAR the ability to card players on its own or to stop the game every 3-5 mins for a VAR check.

And both options would generate plenty of other problems themselves.

I usually hate Spanish team antics but didn't see any of that today. Can't complain about anything.

I feel it’s got a bit better to be honest, not sure if tonight was that bad. Barca at their peak weren’t allowed to be tackled, if you did you would instantly concede a free kick and if they deemed it worth running to the ref over, cards would follow.

Any faking of injuries they should be able to review after or during games.

1 match ban for any confirmed cheating, like holding your head when your head hasn't been touched. It's so bad to watch.

Yeah, this started with an embarrassing Pedri dive on “foul” by Kroos. He even pretended to be so injured that he was subbed. Incredible shithousery by the Spanish.

Apart from Nacho I didn't see much wrong. Refereeing was terrible but kinda went both sides.

I agree with this statement. Allowing so many tactical fouls takes away from so many attacking opportunities it takes some of the spectacle out of the game.

I saw more German players fouling and rolling than Spanniards, just stop the crying.

Plus that notion that fouling or being rough is ok but acting after being constantly fouled it's the only thing bad it's quite silly...in an ideal situation both shouldn't exist but exagerating, acting was born after the constant hacking.

Carvajal was born a shithouse.
I couldn’t watch live so taped and just watched it.

Carvajals second yellow made me laugh out loud. Two hands “come here you! You’re going nowhere” He’s such a xxxx and not a “he’s a xxxx but he’s our xxxx” type player, just a xxxx.

Personally, I didn’t see too much up with the cards and he could have easily given more. diving was the worst I’ve seen for a long time, that one near the end (when he looked like he’d been shot in the back and McCoist was ranting) was pathetic. Also, the organised way Spain players instantly run to the ref could have had yellows, reminds me of a PL club…

Good game though.
