Aaah, the coffee shop scene. Pouring a ton of sugar in the coffee. Love that movie.
I actually love that film for some reason, but that scene is just out of this world. I remember exploding with laughter the first time I saw it
I’m with you - I don’t know why but I have a big soft spot for this movie. It may be because I had a massive crush on Claire Forlani growing up. But also, although it’s a bit long, it has an endearing quality about it.Aaah, the coffee shop scene. Pouring a ton of sugar in the coffee. Love that movie.
I think i'd rate it as a 6. I can see how it would work as a graphic novel with a very minimalist set up but as movie i just found it too threadbare. Felt like a very generic scene in a hitman related movie where he's setting up a kill dragged out over 2 hours. Maybe with a more anonymous performance it would have been better for me. Fassbender's performance felt in contrast with the rest of the movie. Very good technically at least, just not enough in it for me. Pretty good fight scene in there too.
I absolutely loved the scene where he breaks out of the police lock up. It’s amazing. Yeah the movie itself isn’t all that unique in terms of plot, but the fight scenes were fantastic.I watched Lost Bullet (Balle perdue) last weekend. It's a 2020 Netflix film about a genius car mechanic who has to work for the police to get out of jail, but then gets implicated in some corrupt police stuff and needs to work his way out of that situation.
Quick and hard-hitting action scenes with quiet bits in between: it's nothing complicated but it works well. It was also nice that they didn't smear it out but kept things to 90 min, even if maybe one or two plot points could have been made a little explicit. (Luckily, my wife hadn't missed anything.) It reminded me of the Fast/Furious series in a way - as a kind of understated, reasonable, non-insane variant (no family either) that I actually do want to watch. Still just 3/5 though.
Pure cinema here
Yeah, it's really well done. No special martial arts, just a stubborn guy using whatever he can. A lot of moments it feels really painful, I totally cringed a few times. But the best is that it's really hard action, and then a bit of quiet (when he's heading for the exit), and then that action again. A funny detail is also that some of the people from that station are again at the road block near the end - still looking injured and also looking really determined!I absolutely loved the scene where he breaks out of the police lock up. I haven't seen part 2 yet.Yeah, it's really well done. No special martial arts, just a stubborn guy using whatever he can. A lot of moments it feels really painful, I totally cringed a few times. I saw that there is also a part 2 btw. Did you see it? I'm kinda curious what they did - but I'll have to wait until my in-laws are here again, cause we watched the first film together as well.

And who can forget the Brad Pitt speaking pidgin English scene.
I totally saw the ending to this post coming after reading the first phrase of the second paragraph.Oh man
I think I have a particular fondness for it as it feels like a quintessential 90s film, the kind of film wouldn't really be made anymore today. It's not excellent, the ending lasts about 1h, and pretty much every scene could be trimmed by 30 seconds, but I wouldn't want it to, it just feels super nice. And the chemistry between Forlani and Hopkins feels very believable as a father/daughter relationship, and the chemistry between Forlani and Pitt (who just shmoozes through the film without any real attempt to act, if we're honest).
It's just a charming film, the kind of film that would be perfect to just put on when you're back home with all the family for Christmas or something if you had a family or if your family wanted to see you oh boy they don't love me do they haha I'm sad.
I like to keep my readers on their toesI totally saw the ending to this post coming after reading the first phrase of the second paragraph.
Watched The Rocky Horror Picture Show. This musical is pretty simple story wise and love birds Brad and Janet (Barry Bostwick, Susan Sarandon) show up at a creepy castle where inside awaits all sorts of strange creatures including the one and only Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry). This movie is a time warped cult classic comedy-horror. Catchy tunes, groovy dancing, a far-out story, what more do you need to convince you that is a good musical comedy that you should watch if you haven't seen it already?! It's so bizarre that it is fun to watch. (9/10).
It’s incredible. I love how Weller reaction pretty much proves it 100% did happen. The whole clip is amazing, but the ending!!!
True although in fairness to Weller he did have to spend countless hours in make up and getting into that robocop suit.I believe Randy 100% on this. Peter Weller was a notorious dickhead on set, method or no.

Seems to be a effective method of dealing with annoying actorsIt’s a really fecking weird anecdote from yer man anyway. Why taunt him with Oreos?!
Oh man

Impossible to cut it. Impossible.I liked it far more than I should. Hopkins was excellent. A heavy edit would have made it even better. Pitt would have seemed far better in a shorter cut especially if they had cut THAT scene.

Cheers. I will have to give it a watch .That whole 4 hour series - Robodoc - is well worth a watch for a bunch of mad stories like that.
They should do a super edit on this movie and cut out every frame that doesn't have Claire Forlani in it. Then mute the sound and throw in a Mogwai soundtrack (or similar). Would watch that.Big expensive unnecessary remake. I miss the Martin Brest of BEVERLY HILLS COP and MIDNIGHT RUN.
This is a shame. Really looking forward to this.Dream Scenario
Waa decent but really overhyped. The film was relatively predictable in the sense you knew what would happen next and that's normally fine, but the ending left a lot to be desired for me and ultimately made it a "meh" movie for me
Also to call it a comedy is an absolute stretch. There are probably 3 moments you laugh, with one of them being a fart joke
Nicholas Cage was excellent in this, so agree with the reviews there but film just didn't really have a point to it outside of cancel culture
6/10
I'd buy that DVD.They should do a super edit on this movie and cut out every frame that doesn't have Claire Forlani in it. Then mute the sound and throw in a Mogwai soundtrack (or similar). Would watch that.
Where can I see this?Monster (2023)
Wow! I think that this is Kore-eda's best film. Yes, even better than Shoplifters and Broker. I just found out that it won Best Screenplay at Cannes this year and I'm not surprised!
I strongly advice you to not read about the film or watch any trailers. You'll have a much better viewing experience then. And if you find yourself watching it at home for some reason, please endure the first 30-40 minutes even if you find the characters frustrating and nonsensical.

Without reviews or a trailer there’s no way to tell what kind of film it is. Comedy? Horror? Cop on the edge sexual thriller?Monster (2023)

Yep.Anyone seen Saltburn yet?
Yep.
Agree on the ending.I've been listening to Sophie Ellis Bexter nonstop since! It really came together in the ending for me though I'm reading a lot on how it actually lost some pts for people.
Gunpowder Milkshake.
Three generations of women fight back against those who could take everything from them.
Well I did not hate it.
There was no plot to talk about, there was plenty of blood and killing the fights were pretty good, seeing a guy get impaled in slow mo by a milkshake glass was good.
The main cast deserved better.
I found the film very Tarantino like, well to be honest very Kill Bill, but it did not come off completely.
Over all it was just OK , never going to win any prizes buy worth a watch.
6/10
Maybe best part of the filmAngela Bassett smashing the guy's head into the glass was such a great shot!
