Gaming The RedCafe General/Random Gaming Chat Thread

A post of mine from eight months ago;

Since then I've played some of those to knock a few off that number, but after counting again the updated amount is now 200
I'm the same. I keep purchasing games at a much higher rate than I'm completing or even attempting them. I'm starting to think it's some sort of mental affliction. My Steam library must read like a gamer's paradise right now but I'm only getting anxious looking at it and realizing how I'm never going to touch even half of it. :nervous:

My Steam library is like 68% unplayed, and 30% played for less than an hour. Almost 800 games in total, and I think only 10 or so have broken 50 hours.

Honestly, since last Jan, I've probably only added about 50 to that, and 40 of those would've come from random bundles around the net :)

My games over 50 hours are...

Civ V - 236 hours
Dota 2 - 215 hours
Crusader Kings II - 200 hours
CSGO - 137 hours
Pillars of Eternity - 129 hours
TF2 - 116 hours
Torchlight II - 88 hours
Dark Souls - 82 hours
Witcher 2 - 61 hours
Skyrim - 55 hours (no idea how)
Rocket League - 51 hours
Trails in the Sky SC - 50 hours

Compare that to my Blizzard games  Around 20k hours in WoW, and at least 5k in D3/D2/W3 combined.

So, assuming my horrible maths skills are correct, that's around 830 days, 3.2 years total?

Hmmm. I have no log, but that makes me wonder how much time I invested into EVE Online over the 11 years I played it. Must be similar. More, possibly.

Something ridiculous like that. It's impossible to know for sure how much of that time was spent afk, but that's what the /played tells me. I've over a year on one character alone, but I know someone with over 700 days on their Rogue, so yeah...

Yeah, it does feel like some mental problem. I like looking at Amazon and eBay etc, even when I can't afford to buy any, I have to look

I'm going to make sure I play them all, but all mine are physical so having visual reminders of them should help me to not forget about any.

You guys have a lot of money to waste.
Nah. I either buy games from charity shops for about a quid at most, or from Amazon using vouchers. I'm the King of thrift!

Aye, it's pretty crazy how much time one can spend on an MMO. I have had many marathon EVE sessions over that 11 years as well. I definitely recall two 24hr+ sessions with nothing more than going for a slash and grabbing some food afk....and there may have been more that I don't remember. There's actually a part of me that doesn't want to know how much I have played.

What on the flying feck? That is a few levels above complete insanity!

Congratulations! You have spent around 10% of your life playing World of Warcraft.

Also, how on Earth you managed to spent 130 hours in Pillars of Eternity? I finished the game doing pretty much all of the stuff in 45 hours or so.

I've clocked about that much on PoE, probably because I played it through twice with different chars. Maybe he did something similar. Then again, I managed to clock 300+ hours on Torchlight II and I've no idea how I did that.

Honestly, I don't regret it, but if I'd spent that time focusing on my music, I'd be on tour with Steve Vai right now :D

You must've played on easy, skipped some content, and read really fast. My first run on Normal took about 60 hours, and my second run on PotD/Expert Mode, which I'm yet to complete, has taken up at least another 60. The other 10 has been experimentation with characters.

Dragon's Dogma is just so much fun. It's not perfect, but it's one of those games that just sucks you in with it's amazing gameplay. I'm just ten hours in, but I'm really loving this game so far.

Ah don't say that, I've been a hair away from buying it for a few days... Maybe if I can finish Demon's Souls before the end of the month I'll give it a bash.

Refinished Hotline Miami this week. Still all kinds of awesome.

You know you'll break down and get it eventually :D

Other than the combat, character building is really deep with the way it handles classes and leveling. One of the coolest systems I've seen really.

The story and writing seems more Fallout 4 than Witcher 3, but I don't really care since it's so much fun.

So great that we are getting Japanese console games like this on the PC these days.

Hotline Miami is cool although a bit too infuriating for me. Never actually finished it. Great soundtrack though.

Sounds like I'll be skipping the quest dialogue entirely then.

I put the Hotline Miami OST on my new DAP. With a headphone amp & a good set of earphones, that OST is lethal to your ears.

I need a game to get stuck into.

Post-MGSV, I'm a bit of a bored gamer.

As posted here, I tried Gemini Rue. Yeah, it was nice and all but not something that dragged me into the experience. Something I'll probably play once in awhile when I'm in the mood. Tried Escapist and it was alright.

Any indie suggestions? Last run of indie games I went on was fantastic, where I played Hotline Miami (brilliant), Bastian (very good), Grow Home (excellent) etc.

Is Mark of a Ninja worth giving lots of time to? I played an hour of it, and liked it, but wasn't sure whether it was worth investing loads of time into.

I doubt The Witness would run on my laptop.

I should probably try Ori given I've heard great things.

Funnily enough, I started playing Mark of the Ninja last night :D I'd bought it years ago, and got about 5 minutes in before stopping for some reason. Now I'm 3 hours in and the game is a blast! I'd definitely give it some more time.

Was for a little bit, but now it's started to get going :D I heard the magic's good in this game, so I'm rolling a mage from start to end. Quite different from DkS/DeS where I play melee exclusively.

Some people say a pure caster is a bit boring, although I never tried it myself. Good thing is you can always change later and have the magic boost if you want to roll something like a magic archer.

I can really recommend the No carry limit or sprint stamina drain mod from nexus. That part was driving me insane.

I refuse to download mods like that (even though I'm getting sick of the endurance limit myself :D)

I'm usually the same, but I'll give you 24 hours with DD's inventory management and traversal.. then get back to me :D

Gotta admit, 12 hours in, I'm not really enjoying the game a huge amount. It's like a really low budget version of Dragon Age: Origins with non D&D style combat, awful pacing, poor AI, and no dialog worth listening to.

Oh man, I disagree with a lot of that, although dialogue is a bit of a laugh admittedly. I love the exploration and general Japanese weirdness of it all... but especially the gameplay! Maybe your choice of vocation is the issue? I've read many people say that Sorcerer is a bit of a boring class. Seems like melee and archery is more enjoyable. Assassin is a ton of fun for me as I can chose from Daggers / Sword and Board and get a decent bow as well. You could always change vocation and having built up good magic stats would still be very useful if you'd want to play as a magic archer or a mystic knight.

I wasn't using non-D&D style combat as a negative, but instead pointing out how it differs to DA, while in many ways being kinda similar (the dialogue :D). It seems the game mostly thrives in the post game, which I'm looking forward to (and am very nearly there).

Oh, right.. I'm still a bit mentally scarred from the awful "romancing" in DA:O.

I haven't had time to finish up the main quest either, but yeah BBI is supposed to be this great super dungeon. Dungeons are cool in this game generally I must say.
