Just finished Inside. 10/10
What a sh*t hot game. Literally leapfrogged into my top games of all time list. Thoroughly enjoyed the ambiguity of the story and I think the whole design of the games ambience is top notch. Reminds me of Another World, another of my all time favourites.

And I was not expecting that ending. That final act was incredible and the ending was so perfect. The story arced from mystery, to hope, to desperation and ultimately to futility. Perfect game.

I felt exactly the same.

Already got it.
You tried The Messenger?

Bloodborne enthusiasts, does it have a lot of optional content? Would there be stuff i may have missed if I wasn't focused on exploration etc ? Or can I expect the 2nd playthrogh to be the same as the 1st?

Yeah amazing game.

I've opted for Death's Door. Absolutely loving it so far. It's Zelda meets Shadow of the Colossus.
Heard it's very good. Considering it as my next buy. But I'll probably go for Subnautica BZ then this. Do let us know your final thoughts.

Nice. Glad you liked it :)

If you want some more mindfeck, check out the secret ending and the top comment here, and then think about the title.

It's another on my watchlist. It was on sale a week ago...
It's still on a great discount here. Just a bit wary as all the reviews are not from the sources I generslly trust. Heard it's very unnerving but I don't want it to feel like a chore.

How do Dragon Quest games compare to Final Fantasy ones? I have never played a DQ game, so was thinking to get DQ11, which is usually considered in top 2 of the series (together with DQ8).

Are they near as good as peak FF games? Do they have the depth of story and characters as FF best games?

Just had a first run on Sifu. Yeah it's definitely not a button masher.

Great intro to set the tone, the combat is incredibly satisfying even early doors without unlocking many skills and the music is outstanding.

It's basically a rogue like beat em. Looking forward to unlocking more stuff and getting good.

Mind blown! The game has had me thinking all afternoon.
How many endings are there? And how do you trigger them? At what point? How do you not become the blob thing? Can’t work out which ending is sadder.

I saw all the endings on YouTube after the ending I got. So powerful.

There's a great theory about:

the boy is a cancer and all the things trying to stop you are various medicine/cures but eventually the cancer takes over... The blob[\spoiler]

The ending was powerful. Mine left me open mouthed and it took me a few seconds to realise it was over.

What was your ending?

Kinda wish it wasn't a rogue like. There are so many of them now and would have been cool for a game whose art style and combat look so interesting to be more linear or like a Soulsgone game in terms of progression.

I've only played DQ11 but the story is fantastic, definitely worth playing.

It's not a full on rogue like. From what I gather once you unlock the next level it stays unlocked but you can only start it at the lowest age you reached it at, which is what might encourage you to perfect earlier levels.

It's been a while since I played but it struck me all as being about how people are induced into state of being based on their external surroundings. One of those abstract concepts about how thought is manipulated in such a way that people gradually lose their ability to think or act individually.

The game seems wholly concerned with this contrast between the individual (the boy) and the collective. Its use of moments like when you're standing in line with the zombified others seems to want to make us think we're different, yet by the end of the game suffer the same fate.

This part:

I think the alternate ending is smart in prompting us to think more about how we go through the game's world at the mercy of the developers, believing ourselves to be 'in control' when we're actually representing the boy, who himself is being represented by us, the player.

It's similar to that hoodwink MGS2 pulls when you realise Raiden is in a virtual simulation of the first MGS game.

There's no way to discuss this game without sounding pretentious :D

Anyone playing Sifu?
Thinking about buying it but I dont want an insanely difficult Bloodbourne-esque experience. A little challenging is fine.

I was interested at first, looked cool enough but after recently playing Absolver I'm waiting to see some reviews. Absolver didn't do it for me so if Sifu is based on similar I'll avoid.

Yes. See above. I finished the first level on my second go. It's tough but not unfair. And now I'm just reading about focus attacks which I didn't even know about (almost certainly wasn't paying attention).

I also discovered on my second run it's best to plough all your points into one move you want to perm unlock rather than spread them out.

In hindsight, I now remember lots of scenes where in the background there were other people running in the same direction as the protagonist, were they following the same urge or instruction as the boy? Were their fates the same?

What I really liked ...
... was at the outset, you assume you're running away from something / somewhere with the intention of escaping, whereas in reality, you're running towards something. This was really clever and genuinely took me by surprise.

Re: spoiler. Yeah I loved that. It gave things a really ominous feel once you realise what you're running towards.

I should go back and play it again

What are some good 4 player games on PC? We have played Phasmophobia, Mount and Blade, Muck…looking for cheap or free good games to play. Either as a 4 or where 4 of us can hop into a bigger game.
