Gaming The RedCafe General/Random Gaming Chat Thread

Cheers fellas.

Trying to finish off Death's Door. Not too easy with a baby on your chest.

I taught my eldest to count and do percentages sitting on my lap with head shots in a game I won't reveal I let him see

Yeah, unorthodox and I'm sure plenty of people with cry "oh no, you shouldn't do that!" but the little fecker is absolutely smashing it at school...so...

Anyone played Lost Ark, looking for a time killer on the side inbetween Apex for the long term for my pc.

Console is wrapped up for a while with Horizon and Elden Ring.

Yeah i've been playing it. Haven't done much, just messed around with different classes for an hour or two, they all seem a lot of fun. Seems a good game.

Does anyone else hate Fog of War for maps in games? Drives me mad seeing tiny bits of the map I’ve not ‘explored’. I have to go all the way there and it’s just like three trees or something, but it really irks me if it’s not uncovered.

Currently playing Far Cry 6 and you have to physically be at each part of the map. Flying doesn't even count. I wish if you liberated outposts and stuff it would just show parts of the map like it used to.

Not nearly as annoying as the ubisoft mechanic of going to a really high point and pressing a button to suddenly see whats in the area.

That might even be in Farcry its been that long since i bothered with an ubisoft game.

As someone who doesn't do multiplier gaming, do any of the MMO/games as a service/Free to Play games offer up a high quality narrative experience? I tried Warframe a long time back and couldn't deal with the seemingly aimless grind. I know these games are probably just not for me but just wondering if there's anything genuinely great that I'm missing out on.

SWTOR

Final fantasy 14 also has a massive free trial and is heavy on story and hardly needs any groups.

Some classes in SWTOR have a better story than most single player games. Jedi Knight one in particular is very epic. The extensions have quite nice stories too.

Warhammer 3: Total War coming out on Thursday. I'm so excited

I'm currently pre-loading it right now. Man I hope it's ready to go when I get home. The first two (especially 2) are some of my favorite games of all time and this one looks like a big improvement.

It's good fun and quite addictive. I've been playing it non-stop all week and enjoying it a lot.

Warhammer 3 is on gamepass btw.

I don't know if anybody has heard about gamepass before but it's a cracking deal. I highly recommend it.
Hope it pulls more fans to Total war. Everyone should play that series. You don't get 1 and 2 with it though so no Mortal empires campaign when it eventually comes out. Though still a good deal.

Last of us 2 is so fecking disappointing. They took some really bad decisions with this one.

Finally finished the Celeste Farewell DLC. That was so frustratingly hard.

Gonna put my switch away for a while, or I'll probably suffer some sort of breakdown

I'm biased as a massive old kung fu film fan, but Sifu is the most fun Ive had with a game since pong.

The historical Total Wars were my favourite game series growing up, but I just can't get into the fantasy settings.

The dumbass reviewers who totally didn't get the game put way too many people off. "Oh it's so difficult!" No, you just don't have the brain capacity to figure out a different style of game and couldn't rely on Youtube tutorials to tell you how to play it.

Whilst not without it's flaws (camera and tracking, I'm looking at you!), it is a work of art in so many ways.

The camera is Indeed infuriating at times, but this is the way I always hoped they would reimagine stuff like Double Dragon on a modern console.

@Camy89 called it a 3D Hotline Miami and I completely get that as well as it being DD like.

There's a game on Occulus that does DD/Streets of Rage in VR btw. It's outstanding.

The Museum boss in Sifu is beating my arse.

Yeah she's an absolute pain in the ass.

First phase I found it best to stay away from her and move in for a couple of hits after her attack combo. Block/Dodge the one that comes straight down the middle.

Second phase you can read a lot easier. You can duck/catch the knives she throws, dodge her combo and look for the flash that happens before she does her rush from the other side of the screen.

Mercifully you can get back to her straight away with the elevator key from the atrium so always room to improve. I think I left that level age 27. Just got to the final one last night in my 30's which I hope will be enough to complete it.

Got her. Helps that you can skip the entire level once you get the elevator key. Still, she took me from age 22 to 67

Yeah took me a few goes to beat her at age 27. Keep going and you'll reduce that as you won't be going far into the next level at that age
35 now. The second phase is easy. The first phase I can only sort of cheese by staying far away to bait the telegraphed finisher which is easy to dodge. Anticipating lows is imposisble for me.

Same. You'll be happy to know the 4th boss has a very easy attack pattern to dodge.

Just bought the Nonary games. Friend of mine swears by it. Really good discount on it so now's the time to buy it. Soon as I finish HFW, I'll jump on to this.
