Gaming The RedCafe General/Random Gaming Chat Thread

I don't think disliking NSMB2 is too bad, I've seen quite a lot of people say they don't like it, so that one isn't too crazy. I haven't played any GTs, and only a tiny bit of MGS2 so can't say much about those.

Resident Evil's (the original ones) great though! But still I think I can see why some people might not like it.
I sold that NSMB2 within weeks of getting it, which is a pretty bad sign considering I still have my copy of Shadow Madness.

Yeah it's not the best sign really :p

What did you not like about it? The times I've seen people say they don't like it they've never said why so I'm not really sure of the complaints.

It's weird, I'm not sure I can even say, beyond pointless comments like "it's no fun". Every time I played it, within minutes I was sick of it.

Basically some people are just cnuts and don't like games because they have awful personalities so like to hate everything that's colourful and not dark and boring and miserable.

Or something.

Silent Hill is a decent game, very creepy, but I get the dislike as I was never really a fan of that or Resident Evil (until 4). The remake on the cube is quality though.

Silent Hill I tried again in recent years and liked it more. I'm not a fan of the MGS games, I always preferred Splinter Cell by a long way. I also don't care much for NSMB2, it's just too much of that type of game in recent years as much as I love Mario.

I haven't even played NSMB2 but I'm sure it's exactly the same as NSMBW and NSMBWU

While we're on the subject of Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid.

I've played none of them.

You lucky bastard. I'm somewhat disappointed I gave MGS a second shot and bought the Vita collection, only for it to be exactly as I remembered. Oddly enough, the port of the original Metal Gear wasn't bad, tbh.

You could pick up Blacklist on the cheap for Wii U easy Joe.

The first three splinter cell games are well worth a play if you are in any way i terested in stealth games. MGS series I can't recommend as I find them pretty dull.

You're missing out on the new title screen you get after collecting 2 million coins!

Nooooooo!

The multiplayer is so much fun. 2v2 sneaking around it's quality. If I thought people on Wii U played it and I wasn't so skint I'd buy two copies and send you one.

Ah, I see. A bit shitty that you have to find a taxi first though. Cheers.

When I'm playing I seem to see taxis around around all the time, though I'm sure if I wanted to use one I'd never see any :p

I guess the taxi frequency might vary from location to location, too.

Started playing Assassin's Creed 2 last night. Pretty good so far, but FFS why can't I skip the cutscenes

Just ordered Deus Ex (the original one). Looking forward to it arriving and seeing what all the fuss is about.
I wasn't sure if it was worth the effort to acquire buy it as it has some mixed reviews. You'll be my lab rat again for this, Olly. :)

I'm playing Assassins Creed Black Flag and you can skip cutscenes if you hold down one of the buttons. Not sure if you can do it in the second one though, never played it.
What are you playing it on? If it's on pc I'm sure you can download mods that can make you skip it.

Are you also talking the very first Deus Ex? It's madness not to play it, sure it won't be for everyone (I'm not sure it's up Olly's street) but it's only one of the greatest games ever made, and certainly in terms of offering the whole package and quality throughout IS the greatest of all time. It's mine, and many many others, top game of all time in most lists.

The second, Invisible war got very mixed reviews (it's a shit sequel but quality game in it's own right), and Human Revolution is one of the best games of last gen. Directers cut makes even that far better.

I think Olly was talking about human revolution, at least I was.

I tried to get into the original Deus Ex a few years ago but the graphics were so dated that it really put me off playing it.

Reading how you praise it, I might have to rethink and maybe give it another shot. Guess it's always better to start with the first one anyway.

Get some graphics mods, people have done some great things. I'm lucky in that I don't really see games as dated, I tend to remember them exactly as they are. But you can make it look more modern if you want.

But yes mate, like System Shock 2, it's one of those games that is just mandatory. Not everyone will like everything about it of course, but it's still worth experiencing.

Ok, you've persuaded me, I'll get it this week.

I think I should find a copy of PES5.

I've got PES 6 on my 360 still but I knocked the Xbox off it's side and it gave it a scratch all the way round and stopped working. Every few months I'll really want to play it and will try to get rid of the scratch using tooth paste, deodorant, peanut butter, polish and all sorts but just can't get it to work.

I've then seen it in shops on my travels at like 99p and thought 'nah'. I'm sure I've spent far more than that on wasted resources though
