feck me mate, you had me worried for a minute there. I never in a million years thought we were after the same players. Why would I want Xabi Alonso with Hierro in my side? It is Brwned you should have worried about with him needing two 80s players and one of them to start.

For the 80s I'm in two minds as to whether to pick a sub who will never play or a tactical variation that is even less likely to play.

I was thinking of Alonso alright but he wasn't high up on my list to be honest.
 
Anto is a cnut. He knew 1 of my picks and had the correct idea of what I wanted with the other. Luckily he didn't guess it correctly!
 
I look at my draft plan post the Falcao debacle and have to laugh, the only thing that didn't work was Banks and I'm actually happier with the outcome that results from that.

Clarification for Theon: I know Banks is arguably the top keeper in the draft, I'm just loving the outfield quality in the 30s more than that in the 80s.
 
There is a striker from the 30s with a ridiculous record that seems to have survived so far.

There were truckloads of 30s players, the problem with them is no one knows jack shit about most of them. I'd bet my 30s backup option doesn't get picked and he would shit on the entire 80s bar maybe 5 players.
 
Physically any 1980s player league 2 upwards would beat a 1930s player but even technically there'd be no comparison I'd say. Football was barely a professional sport back then. Discussion for a different thread I suppose.

It's been discussed to death. Then there's how many injuries the 80s players would pick up in the pitches the others played in, with the little protection they were afforded, with the heavier balls...

You can only really assess people relative to the impact they had in their era against players in similar conditions, otherwise it's pointless to do a multi-decade tourno!

80s pick then.

I was thinking about getting an 80s left winger to provide a very poor benchmark for my 30s LW pick. The point went along the lines of: this chap is here ahead of X who you know but he is just infinitely better. Just to avoid a scenario where people think it's some odd chap I got stuck with.

But then, why the feck take a player I have zero intention of playing him? It's a bit useless isn't it?
