Ryu and Ken would have been proud of that uppercut.

just had a look at his boxrec wins on the back of this because I thought there has to be someone he fought before GGG that was a big name, but you are right, it's a load of shite.

Just shows you how good a job Hearn and Sky have done in hyping this guy up, nobody even questions his record and the fact after 32 fights hes only fought 2 world class fighters! Shaun porter you could argue was his one decent opponent before GGG, but he is basically the American version of Kell (fluffed up record no KO power) and I wouldn't personally class him at world class level.

God I hate Wilder... there was a gif on my Instagram of his “Lomancheko hop” vs Stavern and it was slowed down and seeing how horrible his boxing was in that moment and how open he was just hurts me deep down in my soul.

Feel bad for Brook. If he had the Spence fight before the GGG one, it may have been a bit of a different story.

Me too if anyone got a stream for Bivol. Please.

I've said after every single Wilder fight, it's only that right hand. That's all he relies on. He's absolutely shattered after that. Showed good heart yes, but his entire game plan is that right hand.

It was an obvious strategy to get Ortiz to expend his energy early on and then start teeing off on him in the later rounds. I suppose Wilder could've been more aggressive earlier, but it would've played into Ortiz's strengths. A 38 year old heavyweight is always going to gas, especially if he comes out as strongly as Ortiz did.

Big win for Wilder, his first against an opponent of calibre. That right hand could cause AJ some real problems.

What do you think his gameplan would be against AJ? I mean, most fights, he just bullies opponents. Tonight, he couldn't bully Ortiz, so had to wait for him to tire himself out. Surely he can't do that against AJ, who is bigger, quicker and much more powerful and also younger?

I think it will be a great fight. Ortiz is a world class fighter who controlled most rounds and yet he crumbled each time Wilder made significant contact. I think Joshua would run into similar problems, although he will have better cardio and probably a better strategy.

Yeah but this is pretty much 40 fights in a row where that's been his strategy.

Obviously that's a but hyperbolic, but I really struggle to see much more else to him. He's atlhetic and has good speed. He pounces when he senses danger, but it's all about landing that right first.

I guess if that gets you to 40-0, can't really complain.

I think Wilder/AJ would be a wide open fight from the beginning because Wilder would not have the luxury of tiring AJ our early like he did with Ortiz, so he would be forced to brawl it out from the beginning. That's a fight that I seriously doubt would go more than 6 rounds.

He clearly has to be a lot more shrewd - or come out all guns blazing from the start. Not sure what Wilder was doing in the first few rounds there but if AJ gets him in the position Ortiz did, he won't be letting off the gas. Wilder's biggest weapon is his power so he'd have to make that count.

Yeah, Ortiz is much better than any opponent AJ has faced, outside of Vlad (and maybe on a similar level to that Vlad). Wilder proved a lot tonight. We now know he is durable, and his power destroyed a top fighter.

Yeah. No way could I see that fight going the distance. Somebody is getting knocked out. I wouldn't like to guess who that is.

Yeah, the longer it goes on, the more I would fancy AJ to win but like I said above, either fighter is more then capable of an early knockout.

Aj is going to get destroyed, i love the guy but Wilder is fecking mental.

Anyone know what happened when Wilder was being interviewed in the ring after and briefly looked like he was going to go after someone ?

No, i was watching and wondered what happened when the interviewer asked him to calm down.

Off tonight's showing AJ could have problems. Wilder showed he could take some heavy shots and also that his shots are heavy enough to get a top fighter out.

Still think Joshua takes it, but it appears closer than I originally thought.

AJ vs Wilder is gonna be bonkers. Don't even want to call it. First fight of Wilders I've watched, his mad highlights clips do him complete justice....

Agree on it not going the distance, but then again, I'd never predict any fight with either of them going the distance anyway. Bit of fresh air to the division really, though I can clearly see why Fury still fancy his chances everywhere.

Commentary was pretty disgraceful from the Sky Sports team. They were absolutely desperate for Wilder to win.

Wilder really isn't an impressive fighter. The only impressive thing about that fight was he dispelled some of those chinny claims.

He doesn't have much boxing technique at all really. Totally reliant on his speed and power.

Ref should have stopped that before the final knockdown btw. Was clearly in big trouble and wasnt seeing the round out.

Also, lol at the judges having wilder up on points. Boxing gonna box right?
